Chapter 1 - Happy 18th?

“Zo, wake up, it’s your birthday,” my older sister said. “Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to ZOE!! Happy Birthday to you!” My family sang to me. ‘What, huh, what!’ I moaned. “Your 18!!” My mother told me. “Lucky,” my little sister, Mandy, mumbled.

Not long after that day did I have to return to school. I was going into the 12th grade. You know there is supposed to be smooth sailing in 12th grade. I mean you’re almost an adult, in high school and have just about all the time in the world. Well there are some downers too. Like major acne, P.E. just about everyday, and no one really seems to know what is going on in your life. I mean, seriously, you could have been murdered and no one would even ask about you. I can see it now “ Ferris, Ferris Bu- Well I guess he’s not here today.” Yeah…

Well that day at school was misery. Chad, the cutest boy on the planet, had the exact same class as me and didn’t notice me once. I was like right in front of him and he looked through me as if I was glass.

Meanwhile, my best friend, Bonnie was talking to me. Apparently, I’m so good at NPAWDD, or not-paying-attention-while-day-dreaming, that she didn’t even notice I wasn’t paying attention. “You know?” she asked. Pretending like I heard everything she’d just said, I responded “Of course, that’s so annoyi- Whoa.” “What happened,” she asked looking the same direction I was and finally noticing she said, “ That’s not normal…” Coming back to life I replied with “Have you ever known them to be normal?”

Gee I wish i thought of that.

Zoe just turned 18 expecting fun and games but when her old found enemies make their arrival life isn't as good as expected. Her crush is already being crushed on and her family almost likes the Alpha more than her. What all will she do to fit in for once?
