Q: Can I be in it?
A: Sorry, I don't need any more characters.
Q: Where does this take place?
A: Mostly L.A., but a little bit in New York, and maybe other places. I'd like to point out I know nothing about New York, or L.A., so please bear with me.
Q: What's up with the name?
A: Starling and Sparrow are both birds. The character Starling has some of their characteristics.
Q: When will you start.
A: Soon, very soon. I'll got the first chapter written, but you'll have to wait for Tuesday to get the next chapter, at the earliest.

Chapter 1
Starling’s POV
It’s common knowledge that the French give up. I mean they give up in wars, and their sales peoples give up when I fight with them. But you want to know the latest thing they’ve given up? What am I saying of course you want to know! American food. That’s right. On RevolutionAir they’ve given up American food. And that freaking sucks! I mean I can eat snails and all that other French crap, but what I want right now is some fried chicken. [Although it will give me trouble in my system.] So here I am drinking Coke [thank god they didn’t give up soda] and eating a pack of nabs. You know, those orange square crackers with peanut butter in the middle. And now that flight attendant is looking my way. Of course he’s looking at me. I’m not trying to be stuck up, but it’s universal comprehension that I’m really hot. He’s okay too. I mean I’d make out with him here, but I’d never actually date him. I’m wonderful at reading people, since I travel all the time, and I can tell a lot about him without actually knowing him. Like the fact that at least one of his parents died which is why he is working so hard. He needs the money for college, which from the way he looks at me and blushes, he’s a nerd. He has never ever had a girlfriend, anyone can tell you that. Grr, I wish he’d stop looking at me, but when you’re gorgeous you have to live with it.
You know what? I’m gonna make his day.
“Excuse sir?” I ask in a “lady” voice. Oh my god, his face is like beat red. This dude needs a girlfriend. But then again, even if he had a girlfriend, he’d probably dump her for me. I’ve had that happen a lot. And unfortunately, all I did was look at those guys once. I didn’t even know their names.
“Yyyessss?” He stumbles. Oh, give me a break!
“Can I have some water?” I ask sweetly. He nods real quickly and runs off.
Poor guy. He has absolutely no chance with me.
It like five seconds later he comes back with the water.
“Thanks.” I say pleasantly.
He smiles, like a lovesick puppy.
Then the pilot announces we’re about to land in JFK. Goodie, I can’t wait to see Mommy!

“I’M HOME!” I yell as I walk into the apartment. Jojo, our doorman seemed really happy when I walked in. Probably something to do with his wife’s problem that he has been telling me about. Um, hello! You’re a doorman, nobody wants to hear your problems, and you just open the door. Whatever, he like thinks I’m actually concerned.
“DARLING! YOU’RE BACK!” I hear my mother’s gleeful cry.
Then she runs to where I am and gives me a huge hug.
“So what have you got for me?” She smiles devilishly.
My mother is the chief fashion editor for Rage, which you all know is the most respected, expensive and fabulous fashion magazine there is. My father is a huge music man. If he isn’t writing the music, he’s producing it, or managing it or something! He’s the reason I was put into guitar, piano, and violin lessons at age six.
“Surprisingly, New York is more advanced than France.” I say.
“Really now darling?”
“Yes, but I did happen to get ten pairs of baby alligator books. They’re going to be hot!” I say and grin.
“Ah, my little Starling! What would I do without you?” My mother asks and gives me a quick, short hug. The thing is my mother gets so busy that she can’t go everywhere. That’s why I get to go. What about school? You’re probably asking that question. Sweeties, I’m graduated at sixteen. Sure I had to study during the summer, but I think it paid off in the end.
“Oh and Micheal’s coming over.” My mother says and walks out of the room, talking on her cell phone. I squeal.
Micheal Wallup is my absolute BFF.
I grab my cell and speed dial Micheal.
“Hey girlfriend!” He says when he picks up.
“Where are you?” I ask as I sit on the table in the foyer. My mother walks by on her phone, and motions for me to get off the table. I ignore her.
“At your door!” Micheal says and I hear a knock. I close my phone and open the door.
“STAR!” Micheal yells and opens his arms out wide. I jump and give him a bear hug.
“Come in!” I say and we walk inside, and I slam the door.
“Neighbors.” Micheal says.
“We own the floor.” I say. He grins.
“Oh my freaking god. You’re so freaking skinny. You’ve been on that new diet, haven’t you?” Micheal eyes me.
“No. I just don’t eat the French food.” I say.
He sizes my outfit.
“You know, I don’t understand why you don’t where designer clothes? You know all the right stuff.” Micheal says.
I’m wearing a Hello Kitty shirt, Target jeans – so old they have holes in the knees and on the thighs – and Dollar Store flip-flops.
“Because no other Upper East Side girl can get away with this.” I say.
“Nor any L.A. scarlet.” Micheal says.
“And anyway, I don’t want to be decked out in just Versace.” I say making note of what Micheal is wearing.
“Anyway, would you like to know some news?” Micheal asks and we walk into one of the many living rooms.
“What?” I ask.
“Steven called me asking for you.” Micheal says. I roll my eyes. Steven Williams is my ex. Seriously, he thought we were like going to get married, but hello, I’m not like that. He was fine for the moment, but I quickly got over him. Now, his little sister Aziza, is a different story. She like worships me, and was stuck between a rock and a hard place when we broke up. Personally I think she’s an annoying leech, and was glad to be rid of her.
“What did you say?” I ask.
“I told him to go s-“
I hold up my hand. Micheal stops.
“Thank you. So any relationships moments I must know about.” I ask Micheal.
If you haven’t already guessed by now, Micheal’s gay. And not in the happy lively way. Well, actually he’s both.
“Nope. All the hot ones are straight and love you or are taken.” Micheal says.
“We need to get you a boyfriend.” I say.
“What about you?”
“Me? Micheal, you know I’m too wild for any guy.” I say laughing.
“Micheal, how are you?” My mother says walking into the room.
“Just dandy Mrs. Sparrow.” Micheal says.
“Star, I know you’ll probably have an enormous amount of jet lag, but your father insisted you come visit him in L.A.” My mother says to me.
And no, my parents aren’t divorced. Estranged is a better term, and anyways divorce means scandal and no way is the name Sparrow going to be linked with scandal. Of course being all fashion like, my mother lives in New York. Hello fashion week! My father all Mr. Music [that’s my pet name for him] lives in L.A. Hello front row!
I groan.
“Mom.” I whine.
“You have to go. There’s no way I’m going to argue with him again.” My mother says and walks out of the room.
Micheal puts a hand on my shoulder.
“If you see any guys send ‘em my way.” Micheal says, and we crack a grin.
But seriously! I just got back!

It's okay. I just need to get the story going.
