I just read the news (nobody saw this deal coming). The Disney Corporation is soon going to buy Marvel Etertainment and the rights to all of the Marvel characters (Spider-man, X-Men, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man and all the others. The movie deal Marvel made will stay in place but things will change as to who amkes the Marvel films and the companies who distrubute them. On one knows yet what exactly is going to happen once these companies merge.

We could see Dr. Strange on Wizards of Waverly Place or the Sub Mariner on Suite Life on Deck.

I would like to see some Disney comics produced like Uncle Scrooge.

What do you think if this? This is going to be a huge entertainment merger and will change how the Marvel characters are promoted.

Yeah, I know. Disney doesn't and shouldn't run it imo.

I think comic books are a great medium to tell a story. Sadly comics are not nearly as popular as they once were. There are several reasons for this. I do believe comics could make a come back.

Comic book are way too expensive. Popular Marvel titles now cost $4.00. That is crazy. The only people who will pay $4.00 for a comic are die hard fans/collectors who have deep pockets. Readership would go up if the price was lowered.

The storylines are way too confusing and convoluted. Marvel comics are so bogged down in their own mythology nobody really understands the Marvel universe. The titles are all interconnected so in order to follow the plots you need to buy a bunch of very expensive comics. Few people will do that.

Comic books get little promotion. They only advertise to the die hard fans/collectors.

I think the Marvel comics line could be popular with the mainstream public again if they, lower the costs of the books, make the stories easier to follow and not have all of the titles interconnected. Stop doing so many huge event crossovers. I also think they should make the stories more fun and family friendly like they used to be. The Marvel characters are great and with the right promotion and writing we could see comics being popular again with kids and older fans.

Disney could make the chnages necessary to bring comics back. As I said in an earlier post, comics with Disney characters used to be very popular especially the Uncle Scrooge book. It would be nice to see comics for children with the Disney characters again.

Oh no, now Spiderman won't be allowed to wear his tights anymore...Disney will deem them too inappropriate and/or revealing. I bet they'll give him cargo pants or something.

As long as Superman is still safe from the clutches of Disney, I'll be good.

It should. When Paramount was bought, King's Island didn't change at all except the name.

rofl. Now we'll see movies that are made for little kids. Goodbye serious plots.

DC comic-based movies these days have a darker/better plot nowadays anyway i.e. Watchmen.

I was really annoyed about Disney buying Marvel at first, but good could come out of it...Disney owns ABC which has made some fantastic shows (for example, Lost. Who would have thought that show is ultimately under control of the Disney overlords?) so it doesn't mean they turn everything into the sugary fluff we see on the Disney Channel or that Spiderman will start making frequent appearances on Hannah Montana.
I think Disney is smart enough to know that the comic book cult has a pretty big following, and that they're not going to want to mess with things too much. I'm no expert on this kind of thing though, so I really don't completely know what I'm talking about.

Imagine what will happen if Pixar (which is a Disney entity) gets a hold of doing Marvel movies....that would be some pretty fantastic animation and the Marvel characters like we've never seen them before.

The amusement park geek inside of me is terrified for Islands of Adventure at Universal Studios. ): I wonder when their contract runs out?

The Spiderman 3D ride there is by far one of the best, most realistic, breathtaking rides I have ever been on. It would make me really sad if they had to get rid of it or change it to something else.
