TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (AP) — Miley Cyrus took a break from shooting "The Last Song" on the Georgia coast by borrowing a guitar and treating fans to an impromptu, two-song performance on the patio of a beachside seafood restaurant.
"By the time she finished the first song, there must have been 50 little girls and their moms who came rushing up," said Ray Rogers, owner of StingRay's restaurant on Tybee Island. He caught Miley's surprise gig on video.
Rogers said the 16-year-old "Hannah Montana" star dined on snow crab legs with a friend after wrapping up Monday's first day of filming of the Walt Disney Co. movie.
Then she got up and asked a local acoustic duo playing music if she could sit in. Miley stepped up to the microphone and strapped on a guitar to sing the Tim McGraw and Faith Hill duet "It's Your Love," then added a new song of her own.
"She played those and then we got her out of here," Rogers said. "We asked her, `What do you wanna do?' and she said `I want to get out of here.' So we walked her to a side entrance nobody knew about and got her in her car."
"The Last Song" will be filming on Tybee Island and in nearby Savannah until mid-August, stirring interest among locals and tourists alike. The movie features Cyrus as a teenage girl struggling with her parents' divorce who tries to reconnect with her father during a summer at his home in a quiet beach town.
The movie's publicist, Rachel Aberly, did not immediately return a phone call and e-mail message seeking comment Wednesday.

TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) - Tickets for her concerts go for hundreds of dollars but Monday night, customers at Stingray's on Tybee Island watched Miley Cyrus perform for free.

Ray Rogers owns Stingray's and says Miley's Monday night performance was the most exciting night his restaurant has seen in eight years.
Miley sang two songs at Stingray's with young musician Jason Courtney. Rogers caught the whole thing on his cell phone and says word of her impromptu performance spread fast.

"By the time they had finished their duet together, there were 50 people running down the road from near and far," he said. "She was great, took her time and said hello to all the kids. She was just real nice."
Rogers say Miley just put Stingray's on the national map.

"It's great for the business, we couldn't ask for anything better and a lot of lucky customers got a once in a lifetime chance to see her that night," he said.

Filming for Miley's new movie, The Last Song continues through August. Wednesday, crews spent the day setting up a carnival scene at the Tybee pier that they will start shooting on Friday.

In the meantime, anxious autograph seekers and Miley fans have been running around the beach hoping to catch a glimpse of Miley and so have paparazzi.

Tybee police say three paparazzi were arrested Wednesday for trying to crawl under trailers to get access to the teen star.

Monday night began and ended as a normal night at Sting Ray's on Tybee Island.

But it was the unexpected guest who arrived in the middle of the evening that really stirred up the crowd.

As local musicians Jason Courtenay and Jared Wade played guitar and sang, singer-actress Miley Cyrus, 16, showed up in a hooded sweatshirt and walked directly to an open booth, where she sat facing the window.

After finishing her dinner, Miley looked at Courtenay and asked if she could sit in for a few songs.

"Everything was cool and composed until she started playing," said Emily Rich, an onlooker who was there to watch Courtenay and Wade. "Then the place turned into a circus."

After Miley, Courtenay and Wade sang "It's Your Love" by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, the teen superstar borrowed Wade's guitar for a duet with Courtenay.

"We performed one of her own songs that she had just written the night before," Courtenay said. "It was a blast. Hopefully we will run in to her again."
