Billy Ray: ‘Hannah Montana’ to end next year

‘I give a lot of credit to Miley for taking it to another year,’ says her dad

Access Hollywood

updated 5:03 p.m. MT, Fri., June 12, 2009

“Hannah Montana” is coming to an end.

The Disney Channel series starring Miley Cyrus is expected to wrap up a four season run next year, according to the 16-year-old’s dad and co-star, Billy Ray Cyrus.

In an interview for Access Hollywood and “The Billy Bush Show,” Cyrus said the cast, which just wrapped up shooting season 3, will carry on for one more run of shows at Miley’s request.

“Quite frankly, I give a lot of credit to Miley for taking it to another year,” Cyrus said. “She didn’t want it to just end with whatever was the last episode we did. She wanted it to build to where there’s a moral to the story, to where it doesn’t just end and go away and that’s it. She wanted there to be an official ending to ‘Hannah Montana.’”

Cyrus said they will film the final 11 half-hour long episodes and a one-hour long season finale, all expected to screen in 2010.

“We’ll start (shooting) season 4 sometime around the end of January,” Billy Ray said. “We have to be done by the first week of June in the summer of next year.”

But Cyrus did note, however, that things could change.

“Anything is possible in Hollywood,” he laughed.

not only milk that money but it is a smart move for Hannah Montana to be syndicated. That evens means more money and Miley would have money coming in if she decides to quit hollywood.

I so hope it ends with graduation. And, It's going to have a series finale! I think that's a first for a Disney Channel Series. And I did the math... if you don't count "No Sugar, Sugar" they are 2 short of 100 episodes.

aww, that's so great miley did that!
but it's kinda sad thinking how it's almost over...i mean we're already probably a little more than halfway through season 3, and then we only have those 11 episodes+finale
it's a little early to get sentimental, but this show has done us all well <3

Yea I know what you mean. It's sad cause its like we've seen them all grow up and the show has become part of our lives in one way or another. And once the show ends its like a chapter in our own lives has ended as well. lol Does that make sense or was that too deep lol

makes perfect sense haha
atleast the good thing is that even if that "chapter" of our life has ended, is that you may need miley to continute on with hannah montana, but you definately DON'T need hannah montana to go on with miley. and once it ends there will be much more of miley to come, so it will be a whole new experience!

still kinda sad though lol

whoa so if miley didn't ask for a 4th season your telling me disney would have ended it, their most successful show of all time! it's really hard to believe they would end it like that. it doesn't make sense that disney would let their cash cow end so abruptly. and only 11 episodes for season 4? that's way too short for a season! come on now they could at least give us a final full season!

only 11 episodes??? that means they're still cutting it off before 100?

how many episodes would that mean in all? Also remember the hour long it two half hour episodes like the jake ryan one. So techincally 13 episodes in all.

thats still 1 or 2 short of 100. they're being rediculous, they could make so much money by putting this into syndication

Wow, one short lol. Hope fully we're wrong about season three and maybe there will be 32 so then that would make 101. Or maybe they'll change their minds and do 14 episodes in season 4.

*sighs* I'm gonna miss Hannah Montana..
I'm just glad she thought of the whole ending thing.
That way it won't be like some of those other Disney shows that ended randomly (ex: Naturally Sadie, The Buzz on Maggie, etc..)

I don't think Disney counts "No, Sugar, Sugar"... So right now its, 26, 29, 30 for a total of 85, plus the 13 for season 4 and that makes it 98.

No sugar sugar is being shown this year though. Its gonna be season 3's last episode.

"No, Sugar, Sugar" is and forever will be the last episode of Season 2. You see, until "No, Sugar, Sugar" is shown in the US, I will not acknowledge that Season 2 is over. So, right now, Season 2 and Season 3 are running concurrently.

disney counts no sugar sugar because all they need is a 100 that they can sell into syndication. no sugar sugar is an episode. they might have not aired it but someone else will eventually.

and i know there was an hour long episode this season, idk if that mean there were 31 or just 30.
