iTunes help?

Okay, my iTunes keeps telling me to download the next version, but
then when we're going to download it, my mom got all confused, so
I wanted to ask people who've done it, what happens. :P
Does the iTunes replace your existing one, or does it make a new one?
And you definitely get the songs you've bought and imported to it, right?
As far as I know, we haven't updated it since I got it in December 2006.
But it's starting to mess up and not pop up like it's suppose to and I can't
buy TV shows anymore.
So... can anyone tell me? Haha.

I've updated. It doesn't screw up older ipods if you're worried about it. (:

all it does is change like the program. it keeps everything and your ipods should still work. but i think that if the version you use is from 2006 there are gonna be some big changes.

Yep, it's still gonna work.
All it does is upgrade the way it looks, your songs are gonna be there and your iPod will (hopefully) work .

it doesn't effect the songs or your iPod at all...although you'll probably get a new version of your iPod if you haven't done that in a while. lol :P

Not yet. My mom won't let me till I talk to my dad.
Which isn't easy... he's pretty scary. xD
I'll have to wait a bit to find my courage to do it.
