Are You Going to See the Star Trek Movie?

I know Star Trek is mostly a guy thing. I am looking forward to seeing this movie. I actually have a Star Trek display in the bank where I live. The last two Star Trek films weren't very good and the last series Enterprise wasn't that interesting. The new film has gotten great reviews and looks like a lot of fun.

Star Trek can put some people off because the mythology can be complicated. My understanding is one doesn't have to be a fan to follow the movie. If you're interested in learning more about Star Trek here's a brief guide.

The Cage was the first unaired episode. It was reedited and shown as a two part episode called The Menagerie. If you watch this it will help you understand the film better. You'll learn who the characters are. Captain Pike is in this story and he appears in the film.

There's a two part episode of Star Trek The Next Generation called Unification. Leonard Nimoy appears as Spock. The plot ties in to the film. Spock is trying to unify the Romulans and the Vulcans.

Scotty (James Doohan) appeared in a Next Generation episode called Relics. it was really good.

There's a fun Star Trek Deep Space Nine episode called Trials and Tribbulations. The producers took the original tribble episode and digitally inserted the Deep Space Nine cast into it. It looked great.

Capain Sulu (George Takai) appeared in an episode of Star Trek Voyager titled Flashback.

Avoid Enterprise. It will only confuse you.

As for the other Star Trek films. Most fans believe Star Trek II The Wrath of Kahn is the best. Kahn was in the original series episode Space Seed. My favorite film is Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country.

I was watching Nick last night and saw the new Burger King Star Trek commercial. It was filmed on the movie bridge set. Burger King is selling Star Trek collector glasses and Kid's Meal toys. The glasses are a nice and inexpensive collectable. It would be a nice gift to a fan if you know one.

The new toys are don't do anything for me. The Trek toys made in the 90's are much better.

Rotten Tomatoes has given Star Trek 95%. You can't get much higher than that.

The 40's comic book character the Sub Mariner was a big influence on Spock's look.

I saw Star Trek today. You'll enjoy it if you like action films, Star Trek or are a movie fan. It has a ton of action in it and a rapid fire pacing. There is much humor. It doesn't take itself as seriously as the modern Trek shows or films. The humor isn't stupid. The acting is great. They fill those characters easily except for Pike. I liked Captain Pike in this film but he quite different than the Pike in the pilot. Some reviewers have complained the plot is contrived and it is in places.

They're trying to revamp Star Trek but still keeping it's spirit. It works as an origin story film. One gets the sense this is part one of the new film series. We get a lot of set up in this. It is more effective at passing the Star Trek torch to a new generation than Star Trek Generations was.

It doesn't follow Trek canon 100%. I mentioned Pike is different also Robert April was the first Captain of the Enterprise Pike was second. Captain April isn't mentioned in the film. They did throw in a number of little references for the fans but they don't distract those who don't get them.

The sets look great. The bridge looks better in motion than in the still pictures. The visual effects are excellent and so are the make up effects. It's a very well made movie. Techinically it's well done. It has a more epic scope than any of the other Trek films.

The drama works. The opening scene with Kirk's birth is quite touching. There's also a little romance thrown.

The main thing they did right is by basically rebooting the series there is a sense of tension. You don't know how things are going to turn out. This Star Trek isn't safe Anything can occur in it.

Is it the best Star Trek movie? It's difficult to compare this with the other films. It's much more stylish and has different goals than the other films. It is much better than the weaker Trek films.

I really enjoyed it and if you like action or science fiction films I think you'll enjoy it too.

my brother when to see it with his friend. He said that there were some annoying nerds, and i mean NERDS, like the whole nerdy glasses, braces, snorting, the whole nine yeards, so he and his friends were like talking really loudly and acting like nerds on purporse, so the true nerds were like 'exuse me, can you quiet down? werere tring to watch the movie" and then they were talking really loudly to begin with :P yeah, im ranting, but no i dont want to see it. Star Trek confused me :P

My boyfriend's making me go with him to see it tomorrow. He is SUCH a closet dork, if you look at him you would NEVER think he liked Star Trek but he's SO excited about seeing it - it's quite adorable. Me on the other hand couldn't care less about it, really not my type of movie and I'm not going to understand it at all but I am going to see it! :P

You can't say you have an ability if you show the complete opposite. You may have an A in English but you clearly don't put it to good use shortening your words, and no capitlization or puncuation. I get 3.5-4.0s on grammar tests as a Freshman in Highschool, though that's only a portion of the grade so saying my average would meen nothing, and I don't remeber much of English being grammar in 6th grade as it is, and what they tought us was just repeating of other years in slightly more detail.

And you modifying nerds with smelly implies that you think all nerds smell bad. Wile yes in a con by Sunday a stench has risen because certain large people decide not to bathe (or can't due to lack of hotel room) outside of that there is no problem on that.

Think before you type. You say he is bad because he is a nerd, an athiest (and I think he is going down, you're failure to comunicate properly makes it unclear.), doesn't like Hannah Montanna, likes Velvet Underground. You say all nerds are lame. To think that no one would find that rude or insulting would be a bit stupid.
