take a listen. Still features MILEY!!!
I must say his album is really good, if you are into country music
Butterfly Fly Away song is different from the soundtrack version. Billy sings another verse, i kind of like it... more country vibe.
which version do you like?
Album or soundtrack... I prefer both.

There's just way too much going on in that version; there is not really a need to add all those instruments and extra vocals. I prefer the Miley only version, so without Billy Ray.
Oh yeah, whoever put the album on the site like that is a moron.

I’m not going to pick the song apart - I’m just glad we’re getting some different versions. I’ll tell ya’ what, though - this ‘ol ‘60's rocker is pretty impressed with the album. I’ve never been much into Country, but I find a lot to like here, and I’m going to buy it now that I’ve heard it. It’s obvious that Billy Ray and Miley area having an influence on each other’s music ...

Billy's awesome but that album is not what a country album should sound like. I can't understand why its so overproduced, thats not what he usually puts out. His vocals are editted to death , they usually don't do that. I don't get it.
I really am disappointed because the lyrics for his part are so good. I don't understand it they left Miley's vocals natural and editted Billy Ray's vocals like crazy, on previous songs they've done together its always been the other way around..

they wanted to have a country vibe to Billy's version since it is on his album. I think it works fine. But you have to understand, it is on his album and not Miley's that is why they made it rawer one on the soundtrack to appeal to the younger audience.

your misunderstanding, the one on Billy's CD is something you'd expect on the soundtrack, the one on the soundtrack is something you'd expect on Billy's CD.

the one on the soundtrack suits the movie cus it has a lullaby feel to it. It needs to be rawer because that is how it is portrayed in the film.
Ya Billy's new album is pretty good. It is better than the previous one he released.

I get that but the one on Billy's album is something you'd expect on a tweeny bopper soudntrack and the on the soundtrack is what you'd expect on a country album.
I love Billy's music but i don't like this album, its way to over produced and the vocals are editted to death, sometimes to the point it doesn't sound like him. He needs to go back to his sound because this isn't it. I loved Home At last.

Billy Ray has said he “loves” to do his own backgrounds and accompaniments, and his album is full of that. I think it’s a good (not great) album, though. Back to Tennessee, Real Gone, and I Could Be the One are strong IMO, and I do intend to buy it.
The soundtrack album is just that - each of the songs are musical props for the on-screen action, and intentionally simple in their arraignments for that reason. As such, it’s pretty good - catchy tunes, etc., but it’s not a Miley album nor is it intended to be.
Even though neither will blow the roof off, each album does its job, and both have things that are fun to listen to ...

well my point was more that for a country music album, its way overproduced. and the vocals editted to the point that they are? thats something you'd expect on a tween pop album not a country album. The natural vocals, with minimal editting is what should be on a country album.
what i don't get is they left Miley's vocals natural and didn't really edit hers and then overproduced billy's vocals like crazy. i don't get it.

Why does billy rays voice have like two layers of his voice..
flutesinger262
03-25-2009, 10:19 PM
because there is someone singing back up vocals during his part. his is why its so wierd, Miley's is natural and without back up vocals, billy's voice is editted to death and has back up vocals. that jsut doesn't mesh, pick one or the other, lol

Why does billy rays voice have like two layers of his voice..
He does his own back-up harmonies. He records them as a second track, and they dub it back in - so it really is two layers of his voice ...
... Miley's is natural and without back up vocals, billy's voice is editted to death ...
Maybe the 'ol man's voice ain't what it used to be ....?

I don't think thats it. I don't know what it is, I love Billy's music usually but this is too overproduced for my taste, IMO there are no place for editted vocals in country music, thats not what country music is about. This seems very thrown together at the last minute which isn't true since disney keeps pushing the release back.
Also what is with all of the Cyrus' and this rock thing, lol. I swear i saw an interview with Billy today inwhich he said he want this album to be very "rock and roll". Miley and Billy, I love them both but if it ain't broke don't fix it, lol, just stick at what your good at.

I listened to most of the album now and it just doesn't sound right. Also why is Real Gone on there? It seems rather lazy to put it on there honestly; I can't imagine he can't come up with an original song instead of that one.
