So not only do they sell a format that strips some of the quality from the music, they don't even sell a stripped format that is compatible with the most equipment. I agree with you in a sense, but I really couldn't live without my Zune. So I need mp3 files. I would NEVER put anything with a bit rate of less than 256 kbps on it though. The player that you are using also can affect the sound quality, and in my experiences iPods don't sound quite as nice as others. The Zune doesn't even have an equalizer, because it doesn't need one. I've never downloaded anything from iTunes, but I don't think you can do anything with the files other than put them on your iPod? That's pretty lame.


Oh, and the leak that I got was pretty damn good quality.

iTunes at least in the united states, almost all music is DRM free encoded at 256 Kbps AAC which sound very close to compact discs unlike mp3 which I feel I'm missing something. But if most of the songs in an album I like, I just buy the physical cd and encode the files myself and listen on it in a compact disc player drivin really good headphones. Thanks for reading.

It would be odd if it didn't get on top of the charts; there not being too many reviews doesn't have to mean that much yet though people are probably not as curious about this as with Miley's first real solo album. I guess they want to focus the promotion on the movie; if they start the heavy promoting too early people will get a Hannah overload.

and i seriously don't get why its doing bad on iTunes, it should be in the top 100 already, even if its just for soundtracks. I mean HM and Hm2 are both still in the top 100 for soundtracks so it shouldn't take a lot to get in there and shes not yet. I don't know whats going on, but I just hope it changes and they aren't hurt by the fact they leaked the entire thing themselves.

Isn't the iTunes top 100 one of those charts which only gets updated once every couple of hours or so? It's still early in the day so it can still go up there. Not to mention that still a lot of people might be buying it in stores; my amazon order shipped yesterday, I don't do iTunes.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking when you wrote, that you didn't get that preorder special version. I guess that Disney or iTunes messed up again (or the Disney management had another "great", jonas-esque idea how to sell more albums in a week) and only unlocked the regular version otherwise I don't have an expanation why the soundtrack was high in the charts just by preorders and now is not even in the top 100.
Just wait a few hours and they'll unlock the special edition, too.

they took it down completely. the special edition that everyone preodered was number 12 overall albums last night, but then they pulled it off iTunes completely and only released the regular. So if they don't put the special edition back up I hope everyone buys the regular when they get home. Those special edition sales typically would have gone through as soon as it hit midnight and now disney lost all those sales. I hope they put it back up without losing all the preorders. Stupid iTunes or disney for screwing around.

Butterfly Fly Away with Miley. It’s not really the way you’re used to hearing either of them as it is a very slow paced song with only very subtle music track in the background.

The main problem with the song is that there is also a version on the internet where Miley sings it solo. Though I can see the point of them singing it together and no offense to Billy Ray. There’s no doubt it’s also related to the narrative of the movie it just works better solo. It makes the song feel more heartfelt; even more simple than the version on the soundtrack giving it a bigger impact.

I agree with this part and I to like the solo version of Butterfly Fly Away and yes it just works better .

I can't actually blame the media for having a lack in reviews; a lot of new albums came out this week. It's actually quite normal for that to happen; people just get it one go really. People who didn't really bother with the soundtrack but found out they liked the movie and the music that goes with it. So they buy the CD now after all.

Just like when the new album for an artists comes out the previous album usually goes up in sales as well.

seeing that its a head of it right now is the only reason I think its even remotely a possibility. this has been out 4 months, and was not even in the top 20 two weeks ago, now its shot back up to number 1? that makes no sense. When i went to look for the album here's what came up. This is a screen shot of my itunes. The red highled stuff is just proof that i got all the good stuff from the deluxe version. Read the thing that came up in the itunes box.

When I signed into iTunes today it said that it's ready to be downloaded and asked whether I would like to download it now so I said yes of course but then it told me that I have to upgrade to a more recent version of iTunes to get it :(

Normally this wouldn't be a big deal but for me it is cause all the later versions of iTunes won't work on my machine (cause I'm running Windows Server 2003 on it) at all :(

And what really made me mad about that is that I was able to buy both "The Climb" and "Hoedown Throwdown" a few days ago without any problem with the same version lol So there would be no real need to upgrade to get the soundtrack they're just forcing you to do so.

So now I set up a virtual machine running Windows XP and I'm going to install the latest iTunes on that one tomorrow - I guess it should finally work then.

But I really wonder whether I'll get the delux version (which was still in my pre-order list when I checked a few hours ago) or the regular one then.

But I guess it'll be just the regular one like you guys got.

The pre-order list is under "My Account" which is in the "Store" menu I think.

And the iTunes version I had was really pretty old (7.61) so if you're version is not that old it might also work without having to upgrade.

The latest version is 8.1 btw

But if it says that you have to upgrade you sadly have to cause it won't let you download it otherwise - that's really stupid :(

So I pre-ordered the soundtrack on ITunes and all day have been wondering why it didn't show up to download- I tried to take part in some "chat" through the Apple website so I could ask what the problem was. That resulted in me being angry and upset b/c they said it never showed up on their end! Then I called a support # and 30 minutes later was basically told there was nothing they could do, and that the time had expired to obtain the pre-order videos. What happened to "the customer is always right???" Somehow I have the visual of flute being on iTunes the entire day and constantly hitting F5.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Taylor track outsold the other ones; the most important track on the album was the Climb anyway so those don't really compete anymore. Taylor has sold more albums than Miley anyway so in that sense it wouldn't be surprising either.

yeah but the reason Taylor has sold so many albums are because of pop remixes, her songs when not pop remixed don't usually sell well indiviually. I love Taylor and the reason I love crazier is because its so country for a change, lol, but I don't think all her fans are going to buy a track thats so country. Does that make sense?

yeah but it did it on the strength of the pop remixes i think. I think it will be quiet interesting to see what happens with her next album because I wouldn't be shocked if a lot of people bought fearless under the impression it would sound pop like love story. anyways this is still a lot more country then anything on either of her alubms and i know a lot of Taylor's fans said they didn't like it for that reason. personally thats why I love it.

Why do you think Taylor's doing the pop versions in concert and is going to be dancing and having back up dancers on her tour instead of just standing their with a guitar like she use to? because shes trying to please her pop music fans who hate country music and it stinks

shes been doing that according to everyone whoses been going to the random concerts shes had over the last few months. its not country like they are on fearless, and thats beause a lot of her fans don't want to see her do the country stuff or at least she thinks so. and shes going to be dancing instead of playing guitar. She put out an open casting call for dancers with a background in hip hop and jazz

Hoedown Throwdown and the Climb were released as singles. so one of those is the single, the other is the version on the CD

This album really reminds me of how much i despise Hannah Montana music and loves Miley music.. Actually the only songs i like on this album is The climb, Dream, Butterfly fly away and don't walk away. But i will still order the entire album.

Well I'm glad that she's at #1 now where she's meant to be. Everything else would be sooooo unfair!

So it seems that Apple's stupid thingy of making the soundtrack available after updating iTunes only didn't do too much damage :)

But it still sucks big time - they used Miley's popularity just to get ppl into updating to the lastest iTunes version and thereby they prevented a lot of Miley fans from getting it asap - that was rally not nice :mad:

But I finally got the Deluxe Version today too now that I installed iTunes 8.1 on my virtual machine :)

The songs sounds so much better than the leaked MP3 versions I had before :)

And you even get the entire booklet with all the lyrics and stuff as a PDF file!

And it's awesome to have all those videos in HQ now and the "Let's Get Crazy" one is the full length version btw not that short one which they plaid on Disney Channel :)

And did you get your Deluxe Version pre-order by now flutesinger262?
