Please reduce your animated GIF usage.

This has nothing to do with Miley, but since i have been noticing lately the animated GIF files that have been popular lately, please don't use them or limit the file sizes, it takes a long time to load on my slower internet connection on my laptop/ipod touch/phone/other device that is not a computer. And even if it caches the animated gifs, you guys keep updating them and the computer has to download them again.

Sorry! I'll bear that in mind, but they do seem to be very popular as signature's right now.
Personally I'm thinking of switching back to a blend soon anyway

Um no offense but that's the members choice. Sorry that it slows your computer but they are really nice and people like to use them. In fact, I was making my very first one. We all have are little annoyances with people's sigs. Guess that's just something we have to deal with.

And no way i will turn off signatures since i'm using it as my secondary tool to say something when i'm not near the computer. Look at my own signature.

And judging by some of the replies, are you ridiculing me of having a less capable net connection?

I little lecture. Animated GIF Are not designed for video clips and anyways, i have a client side solution in place, but only for the laptop.

Ok like honestly, you have absolutely NO right to tell us not to use GIFs.
They're images, and they're perfectly acceptable to use on this forum. If the image that you're attempting to use is too large, then the way that the forum is set up will literally now allow you to use it.

I like my animated avatar, and there's no way that I'm changing it just because someone asked me to.
I've used devices that aren't computers to come online plenty of times, and it all works quite fine for me, or the GIFs just don't display properly which I'm perfectly fine with.
If you don't want to look at the signature or are annoyed by them, then just ignore them or turn them off...

Did you see the word "Please"??

And a size of a typical GIF file that was made for a video at around 30+ frames at high-speed is around 1 MB, if its used in every post in a page of a thread, Around 9 or 10. Then somebody has to wait for 10 MB to load. Totally inconvenient.

We really can't ask people to not use them as they are something that are relly popular at the moment. Also as someone said there is the option to not display peoples signatures to allow pages to load quicker for people on slower connections. This doesn't stop your signature from showing up to all of us. Just the pages don't load them for you. Also I don't feel anyone was having ago at you for having a slow connection, lots of people here I'm sure have slower connections.

I don't personally have an animaiton in my signature or avatar but I agree with most of what's being said.

And no offence or anything but there are hundreds of members on here and isn't it slightly selfish that you want all those using animations to stop using them just because it slows your computer down?

Gif siggies are annoying. If they're avvie sizes, that's fine. I'm using a new GIF avvie soon, but it is a very small size. My computer cant handle all of these gifs!
