do i have a chance?? comment??

so i was woundering if i would have a chance of getting into a uni/college in America (given that i live in new zealand) like NYU for visual arts...art design(gfx art) photography, painting etc

i took painting and photog at school this year and next yr im taking painting(which is pasicly just art coz its drawing and that also) and design art and maybe photography as well (depending on wheter i wnat to take 6 subjects or not)

last year i got Merit for my art folio board (exam) and merit for another assesment
this year... ig ot an excelence and a merit in the art assesments...idk what i got for my folio (im hoping excelence, if its not itll definatly be a high merit...and same for photography.

yup NZ marking is DUMB but basicly it goes like this either Not Achieved, Achieved, Merit, Excelence

i passed the whole of last yr with Merit and im pretty sure i did this year also (but i havnt got my exam results back yet so i cant say for sure lol)

on my school report my art teacher gave me all excellent for attatude, effort, homework etc

i had also been planing to go 2 uni for journolism and such, but i figured if i can get into a good Uni for art i should do that first and then maybe stay and do journo after if i still wanted...idk lol but yup

and yup coz ild be an international student it'll be alot harder for me to get in i think...maybe? idk lol

you are amazingg! and it'd probaby be easier because you'd be considered a minority. if it was up to you and someone else in the US, they'd choose you. i'd say go for it! you'll regret it if you dont try

those are quite good. and considering you're from out of the country, your chances are augmented about tenfold. but any university like NYU is extremely difficult to get into and even the smartest kids don't always make it in. i wouldn't automatically count yourself in or out, but if they want purely by talent, i'd say you deserve to.

I think your stuff is good, but getting into art school is HARD. And even if you do get in, then what? Your art might be good, but it's so difficult to make it big as an artist in today's world. I would definitely try, but not get your hopes up too high, and apply elsewhere for other things as well.

^^if you have the talent,i dont think it would be hard at all
some art schools dont even require a art portfolio
im pretty sure my first art school of choice,the art institute,doesnt require one
and there are soooooooo many careers now a days that require art that you wouldnt just have to be a straight up andy warhol type artist

i would defintinely try,you have a really great shot
