on that gimp how come when u erase the background when theres a layer underneath it doesn't go to the next layer, it just erases white...

hmmm.. you mean how do you get a transparent backround? click "new" and then click something like "advanced options" or "more options" and then click backround color: transparency and then when you erase with a transparent backround it will be transparent... if that's what you mean! ;)

ugh...i guess i'll have to use the free select tool from now on to get rid of backgrounds =\

did you try layer>>transparency>>like add transparency or something. and then that might work.

You can't get it back. It overwrite your current version.
