PROLOGUE:
I take a sip of my Dr. Pepper. It burns the back of my throat as I chug the rest down.
I try to ignore everyone, even though you know you are being stared at. The cell phones come out, and camera flashes blind me. Ignoring them is hard enough as it is; I don't need the camera flashes.
I pick up my pace, making Jim, my body guard, have to move swiftly with me. I get to my locker, and everyone crouds around.
"Alright, everyone, give her some air," Jim said as he gave some room to open my locker.
This just describes my first day in public school since last year.
I close my locker loudly, making a few screaming girls jump. And yes, screaming girls. Boys are standing there, eyes wide, trying to act cool. But I see in their eyes that they want to jump up and down and scream just like the girls.
Ha.
I wasn't looking, but as I got up I slammed into someone. I fell over, my belongings scattering everywhere.
"Sorry," a voice came from in front of me. I looked up, and he had my stuff in his arms.
"Thanks," I said. He held his open hand down towards me, and I grabbed it, and he pulled me up.
"You're Leslie Hemmings, right?" The boy asked.
"Yes. And you are?" I asked, batting my eyelashes unconciously.
"Jason Melody. You took quite a spill there. Are you okay?" He asked, giving me my stuff back.
"Yeah, I'm alright. Thanks again," I said, a foolish smile crossing my lips.
"See you around." He had a playful smile on his lips, and his eyes were bright.
A very bright blue.
Like the sky.
Maybe I won't have such a bad first day after all.
