PROLOGUE:
I take a sip of my Dr. Pepper. It burns the back of my throat as I chug the rest down.
I try to ignore everyone, even though you know you are being stared at. The cell phones come out, and camera flashes blind me. Ignoring them is hard enough as it is; I don't need the camera flashes.
I pick up my pace, making Jim, my body guard, have to move swiftly with me. I get to my locker, and everyone crouds around.
"Alright, everyone, give her some air," Jim said as he gave some room to open my locker.
This just describes my first day in public school since last year.
I close my locker loudly, making a few screaming girls jump. And yes, screaming girls. Boys are standing there, eyes wide, trying to act cool. But I see in their eyes that they want to jump up and down and scream just like the girls.
Ha.
I wasn't looking, but as I got up I slammed into someone. I fell over, my belongings scattering everywhere.
"Sorry," a voice came from in front of me. I looked up, and he had my stuff in his arms.
"Thanks," I said. He held his open hand down towards me, and I grabbed it, and he pulled me up.
"You're Leslie Hemmings, right?" The boy asked.
"Yes. And you are?" I asked, batting my eyelashes unconciously.
"Jason Melody. You took quite a spill there. Are you okay?" He asked, giving me my stuff back.
"Yeah, I'm alright. Thanks again," I said, a foolish smile crossing my lips.
"See you around." He had a playful smile on his lips, and his eyes were bright.
A very bright blue.
Like the sky.
Maybe I won't have such a bad first day after all.

Chapter 1
I walked to class, signing autographs along the way. Hopefully this will go away after the first week. Not that I don't like it; I love it. I would just like some peace.
I get to my first period, which is english with Ms. Carmack. I walk in with Jim, all heads turned our way.
I tried dressing inconspicuous today: Black dress, silver belt, black slouchy boots. All the girls had a different sense of style, so I thought I fit in well.
I acanned the room, just to let all my fellow classmates' faces sink in. Then I came across him: Jason Melody. And the empty seat next to him.
"Hello, Miss Hemmings. Thank you for joining us. Your paper work, please?" Ms. Carmack said from the front of her room.
"Here you go, Ms. Carmack." I handed her the paper work.
She filled it out. "You may take a seat next to Mr. Melody. Please raise your hand, Jason." Ms. Carmack was tall and lean. She wore a gray tunic over black skinny jeans and gray kitten heels.
I walked over to the empty seat next to Jason. He pulled out my chair for me; I sat down, and he flashed me a huge smile.
The rest of class went great. Jason was in nearly all of my classes; I should have known, because Bristol, Tennessee is such a small town.
Then lunch came around.
Unfortunately, the princaple for Ren Howe High School is a huge fan of mine. He asked me to perform for everyone at lunch.
So I get to the auditorium, where all the kids are sitting, eating their lunches. I look from backstage, and I see Jason sitting there in the audience.
I sang a cover of "Forever & Always" by Taylor Swift, my own "Wishes or Heartaches," and another cover, "My Wish" By Rascal Flatts. Country music is close to my heart.
Everyone seemed to enjoy it; Though some kids sat in the back and snuck in iPods. They were the kind of kids who listened to rap for a living.
Jason Melody moved slowly, seat by seat, up to the front row. I could see his blue eyes sparkle from the stage lights.
After the performance, I walked backstage to Jim holding a Chick-Fil-A bag.
Yum.
"Thanks Jim! I really needed some Chick-Fil-A," I said, taking the bag from him.
"No problem, Miss Hemming."
He followed me to the cafeteria. Heads turned when I walked in. A group of girls waved me over. They looked like the popular, snobby croud. I had a bad experience with snobby girls like them before all this maddness came to. I was not going back there again.
Someone tapped my shoulder.
"Hey! You did great!" I turned around, to find a girl about my age. She sported a red babydoll dress with sequins around the neck, and black ballet flats, with a white beaded necklace. Her hair was in perfect brunette spirals.
"Thanks!" I said, shaking her hand.
"I'm Lucy Lakes. It's nice to meet you."
"It's nice to meet you, too," I said with a huge smile. This girl could be my sister. Her charm and looks were so like mine.
"Do you want to sit with me and my friends?" Lucy asked.
"Sure."
She walked me over to a table with three girls. They all had dresses in asorted colors on; Different styles, even. It was so me.
"This is Shelby-" She pointed to a girl with straight blond hair who wore a baby blue tunic dress. -"Macy-" A small girl with wavy red hair and a golden yellow sundress. "And Lilly," A tall and lean girl who had really pretty green eyes and golden hair and a green dress.
"Nice to meet you all," I said, taking a seat.
