Tears cascaded down my cheeks like an unstoppable waterfall.
I felt eyes upon me from every direction. My outburst was what caused the staring, the curious passers.
"Destiny, come on!" Jake replied.
I stared at him, unable to speak.
How could he expect me to move on?
I stared at him for a long time.
"Jake... Why? I gave up everything for you!" I cried to him.
Jake Ryan stared at me. I moved my blonde hair behind my ear, and my blue, crystal-colored eyes gleamed in the light excading from the street light. Snow fell on the streets and everything in Tennessee.
"Des, we need to get you home,'' Jake replied.
"I can't go home with you," I whispered hoarsly through my sobs. "Not after you broke my... my.. heart!"
The tears were coming rapidly now and the first sobs broke from my mouth.
"Des, Des, Des, please calm down!" Jake said quietly, his voice rising.
I backed into the carriage. My voice quivered with heartbreak with every word I said.
"I will not!" I yelled.
Onlookers came toward us.
"Get back in the carriage," Jake commanded.
I stopped silently and moved toward the carriage and turned toward the driver.
"Take. Me. Home."
I closed the door before Jake could get in. The carriage
took off before Jake could utter anymore words other than,
"I WILL GET YOU FOR THIS, DESTINY HOPE CYRUS!"
