"Good luck, Lizzi!" The choir director at my school, Lakewood Middle School, whispered to me.
"And now, Lizzi Holland, singing 'Jesus, Take The Wheel" By Carrie Underwood!" The emcee, Katy Pratt, said from the stage.
I walked onto the stage from backstage, sitting on the stool and being blinded by the spotlight. The music started playing, and I sang, looking at the crowd.
All of my classmates had very surprised looks on their faces, some singing along, some waving their arms in the air. I saw my mom, front row, smiling. She was nearly in tears. It made me smile as I sang. I really got into it, based on the crowd's reaction. I kciked over my stool, reached out for the microphone, and sang my heart out.
The song ended, and I bowed with a huge smile on my face. Everyone clapped and cheered, and my fears flew off with my career.
Twenty minutes later, the results came in.
"The crowd has voted. And the winner of the Lakewood Idol is..." Katy began. She opened up the envolope. I jumped up and down, too nervous to sit still. "Lizzi Holland!" I ran onto the stage, and everyone cheered. My mom was crying with joy. I hugged Katy, then took my plastic trophy. Everyone cheered louder.
I walked backstage, and everyone congratulated me. A man in a blue suit came up to me.
"Lizzi Holland?" He asked.
"Yes sir."
"I am Robert Hicks, talent scout for Big Machine Records. You have an amazing voice for a middle school student. I was wondering if you were interested in coming to our office building and getting reviewed? I'm very sure our producers will love you. You could make hits!" He said.
I was overpowered with joy and excitment. "Of course! That is my dream! Thank you so much!" I reached out and took his card, which had a pre-written date set for our meeting and directions to their office building.
"See you there, then." He tipped his hat, and walked out the door.
I looked at the card, wondering how this was real or just a fairytale.
