Why is there so much hype about these books, I've seen books that were better written by a 5 year old. The romance has no real basis besides he can't read her mind...and as proven with the midnight sun leak he wanted to eat her then and there...great foundation for a relationship right? The only redeming quality of these books was Jacob(pre-imprinting on A NEWBORN!!! ) and Alice(who got obsessed with babies in the last one which made me not like her anymore)

So can someone please explain why it's so popular besides Edward is atractive...he's not, he's a pasty 17 year old with bags under his eyes...I can find someone more atractive at an anime con...(he must just play to much Counter Strike)

I'm not terribly fond of them either.
My friend (who I accidentally got into them and now she's in love with them) and I were just talking about that today, and our theory is that there are way too many horny teenage girls out there that like the fantasize that their perfect guy is out there, and to them Edward is that guy. They can't find their guy in real life, so they read about him in a book and imagine that he's real and wish that they were Bella.

I guess people like romance novels (personally I really dislike them) and the vampire element makes it more interesting for them so it's not just romance.

Oh and apparently people find the books "suspenseful" and that they keep you hanging on the edge and wanting to know what's going to happen next and wanting to get the next book, though I know of other books that are much better at doing this.
idk, I'm probably the wrong person to answer this cause I'm not real fond of them.

What I like about it, is the creativity stephanie puts into the book.
And the detail. The words she uses, makes you seem as if everything is real.
I really just can't explain it. But, she is an amazing writer. So what if its about a vampire?
Does everything in this world have to be real and boring. Thats what makes the book interesting.
If you like real stuff, go read a non-fiction book. :P lol. sorry but i dont like you talking crap about the book.

We didn't say its the best book ever. So, I know there are many books out there that can keep you in suspense. And

People love them though, but I watched the movie trailer and I didn't like it. I suppose I'll read a couple pages and see how that goes. I'm not really into the whole Twilight thingamigiga or whatever but I'll read them. :lol:

That's the weird thing, so many people say that about them, that they just feel such a connection with the books and that they can't really explain why.
I just don't have it though....idk why.
I've read them all and gone on discussion forums and asked people about why they love them so much but it still just doesn't make sense in my mind.

Look, I know I can't forbid you to express your feelings, but I find it really offensive like the girl who said that we read the books because we are horny and Edward is hot. Like hey, I don't read Twilight because of that! Actually, until Jacob imprimated on Renesmee (BTW HE WASN'T IN LOVE WITH HER WHEN SHE WAS BORN - EDWARD SAID SO AND HE CAN READ HIS MIND, AND WE CAN'T), which meant he found someone who he will probably spend his life withhh, I hated Edward 'cause I found it totaly unfair that Jake would be alone while Bella was with someone when they all knew she had to be a vampire to be with him forever.
Anyway, I like the books because I think that they are written like a normal teenager would say it, both when Bella and Jacob talk. You can understand the way they feel and I love that.
Plus, I feel it has a great message. Like, Harry Potter has the whole nazi thing (I think voldemort and death eaters are like hitler and his followers). Well, Twilight is anti-discrimination. Being a vampire doesn't mean being cruel and a killer. (i don't wanna compare it to anything, because that might offend someone)

I love twilight a lot and at first it was pretty dull to me. I barely like Edward or Jacob I really like Emmet probably the most out spoken of them all. I find Stephenies books suspenseful but I wish she had a better publisher there were some obvious mistakes that I found in breaking dawn. The part about him wanting her blood but not wanting to kill her is understandable. First of all he trained for years not to kill humansand only drink animal blood by killing bella he is throwing his work away. He also loved bella ad couldn't live without her.

They don't HAVE to, I'm not the one that asked on here why people like them. I'm not forcing anyone to share their opinion or say why they like them or anything. I've got a pretty good idea about why people like them now, I just don't personally. I guess it's just the type of person that I am, I like to know why and how things work in peoples minds. From what I can tell, Twilight just kind of clicks for a lot of people, but not for me. Which is fine. I like to know why and how things work when they don't make sense to me. I don't see how there's anything so wrong with that either.

There are better works of vampire fiction out there...*pokes sig* Hellsing is a perfect example of better...as is the amazing clasic Dracula...and Vampire Kisses wile cliche is a fun read.

If you don't mind my saying so (trying not to "bash" here) it's not that the vampires that I don't like because Im quite fond of many fantasy novels.
It's the terribly unrealistic characters that I don't like.
They're just too...perfect, which bothers me because even though they're supposed to be flawless because they're vampires, every character should actually have somewhat of a personality and flaws.
Just my opinion.

Bella has flaws...she lets her self be controlled, but that's a horrible flaw that leads to a horible charicter(and not inteded as a flaw xD) Same with Edwards flaw...But other then that everyone is to perfect and nothing makes sence
