Did anyone watch it tonight? Sarah Pallin was on there. It was pretty funny, expect for the last skit. I think they should have had Sarah do a skit as Tina Fay and at least said more, and made it kind of funny. If you watched it what did you think? Oh, yeah, and the Mark Walhburg chasing Andy Samburg around was funny too for a last week skit.

LIVE FROM NEW YORK, IT"S SATURDAY NIGHT!!!!
Sorry I've always wanted to do that. Last night's episode of Saturday Night Live had its best ratings in the last 14 years. The opening skit was hilarious. It's great when they goof on celeberities and then they show up. For the most part though, the show tanked badly.
Keep in mind I watch way too much TV. Saturday Night Live has always been hit or miss even in the early years. It's very experimental. Some skits work, others don't and some seasons are better than others and some shows are better than others. One expects that while watching. I thought last nights show was mostly a disaster.
The opening was very funny and so was Amy Poler's rap on Weekend Update. The Suze Orman skit was funny. Suze is a know it all, a snob, out of touch and materialistic. The parody of her worked. The other sketches were agony booth bad. They were dull, pointless and stupid.
They had a great opportunity to do a great show. Many people were watching who normally don't watch. I think they blew it. A McGyver parody? Oh please. With a few exceptions I think the show tanked big time and I think they'll loose the audience.
I feel sorry for the cast having to perform in those poorly written sketches. They deserve better than that. Sadly the glory days of SNL are long gone and it doesn't look like it's improving.
BTW my favorite SNL sketch ever of the many I've seen is the Pete Schweaty skit (Alec Baldwin hosted). That's comedy gold.

Well either way the show the put of every week is going to be good or not. But I like to watch it. It was pretty funny until the last skit.

those are pretty much the two most talk about events... and pretty much the show. they should have had mark host instead of the sex drive guy.

Humor is subjective. It's really easy for me to be critical of SNL but I doubt I would be able to write a sketch comedy show. I think comedy works best when one doesn't expect the joke. When something happens you don't expect happens it's funny. When you know exactly where a sketch is going when it first starts it's boring and not funny. The woman in the restaurant throwing a fit because she couldn't keep a secret. That was lame. There wasn't any point to it and I knew exactly what she was going to do before she did it. That isn't funny or clever. The same goes for the sketch about the fall leaves and MacGruber and fart face and the lounge singer. They were pointless and stupid.
Writing comedy isn't an exact science but there are some rules which a professional comedian or comedy writer should understand.
The rap song was clever because you didn't expect it and it was well written. I appreciated it.
That's why I think Hannah is funny. Often sitcoms go for the cheap and obvious joke and Hannah doesn't. Usually there's a point to the plot too. Do you think they would be an episode where Miley calls Rico fart face over and over again? No because it isn't funny or witty. It's dumb.
Rant over.

i am not asking for a rant. i am just kind of making a disscosion bout if you thought the sarah palin thing was funny or not and if anything else is.

I saw it. It was good. I liked most of it.... the last skit did suck. I think they added stuff to the story that didn't need to be there. It ended up being disgusting and violent instead of funny.
I was kind of disappointed they didn't show a shot of Tina Fay and Sarah Palin side by side. I wanted to see the differences. It was really hard to tell them apart. Long lost twins. Only... Tina Fay is soo much better.

Yeah I wanted to see that too. Like a Sarah Palin face off.
