Tutorial 1: Coloring Tutorial

Transible: No.


1. Start off with sharpening, cropping, etc. with you image.
2. Duplicate your image. Set to Screen 82%.
3. Go to layers - new layer adjustments - Hue/Saturation:
Master: +1, -27, 0
Reds: +2, +8, -2
Yellows: -1, -57, -11
Greens: -25, +28, 0
Cyans: -2, -35, -7
Blues: -27, -41, -19
Magentas: -79, -100, +65
4. Go to layers - new adjustment layers - curves:
RGB: Input: 105 Output: 105
Red: Input: 106 Output: 115
Green: Input: 103 Output: 109
Blue: Input: 107 Ouput: 114
5. Go to layer - new fill layer - solid color:
Fill with (fcdbdb) Color Burn 50%
6. Do another fill layer:
Fill with (fbd8b9) Luminosity 10%
7. Do another fill layer:
Fill with (e2e1e1) Multiply 23%
8. Go to layers - new adjustment layers - selective coloring:
Reds: -27, -35, -30, +7
Yellows: -100, +6, -15, -3
Whites: +9, -9, -11, 0
Neutrals: +7, -3, -4, 0
Black: 0, 0, 0, +2
9. Go to layers - new adjustment layers - color balance:
Midtones: -15, -1, 0
Shadows: +16, -1, -2
10. Go to layers - new adjustment layers - color filter:
Cyan, 14%
11. Do another selective coloring:
Reds: -100, +55, +100, +25
Yellows: -100, +20, -20, +9
Neutrals: +4, -2, -5, 0
Blacks: -8, 0, 0, -3
12. Go to layers - new adjustment layers - brightness/contrast:
Brightness: -14
Contrast: +3
13. Do another selective coloring:
Reds: -33, +23, +66, +22
Yellows: -100, -73, -60, +28
Neutrals: +5, -3, -5, 0

Your done!
Merge you layers.
Note: If you need any help just tell me about it and I'd be glad to help.
Also I added a texture to the avvie so that's why it looks a little bit lighter.
Please post your results!

that's nice!
for textures is they usually come in a win.rar file. so you just instead of saving it open the file and copy the pics and paste where you put all your textures from.
for brushes is you save them in wherever and then go to photoshop and press the brush tool and go to the part where you select a brush and then on the top right there's this like play button push it and then there's a option that says Load Brushes press that go and find that file you saved and then press it. and it should come up. i hope i didn't confuse you. lol.

1. first sharpen, crop, etc. with you picture.
2. then go to layers - new adjustment layers - channel mixer:
RED:
Red: +88
Green: -4
Blue: -16

Green:
Red: -10
Green: +104
Blue: -2

Blue:
Red: -6
Green: +5
Blue: +96
3. go to layers - new adjustment layers - curves:
RGB:
Input: 105 Output: 111
Red:
Input: 103 Output: 113
Green:
Input: 108 Output: 109
Blue:
Input: 123 Output: 123
4. go to layers - new adjustment layers - Hue/Saturation:
Master:
-3, -22, +9
Reds:
+2, +12, 0
Yellows:
-6, +8, 0
5. go to layers - new adjustment layers - selective coloring:
Reds:
-100, +31, +98, +17
Yellows:
-100, +5, +32, -5
Whites:
-49, -7, +35, 0
Neutrals:
+19, +2, -2, 0
6. go to layers - new adjustment layers - Gradient Map:
Press the black&white option.
Change the opacity to Softlight 55%
7. do another channel mixer:
Red:
Red: +58
Green: +18
Blue: o
Green:
Red: -14
Green: +100
Blue: -4
Blue:
Red: -18
Green: +8
Blue: +94
8. do another curves:
RGB:
Input: 102 Output: 115
Red:
Input: 109 Output: 124
Green:
Input: 115 Output: 117
Blue:
Input: 109 Output: 112
8. Flatten your image and your done!

NOTE:
For those of you who do not have selective coloring,
here are some steps that makes it kinda look like the result:
1. So after step 4. go to layers - new fill layer - solid color:
Fill with ( feb9b9 ) a light pink
Set to Color Burn 62%
2. Do another hue/saturation layer:
Master:
-2, -2, +6
Reds:
0, +11, 0
Yellows:
+12, +35, +7
3. Do another channel mixer:
Green:
+2, +98, +4
Blue:
-4, +6, +100
4. Duplicate your image, and desaturate it.
Set it to Softlight 55%
5. And your done!
The result is kinda like the other one.

Yes, there are curves and OOOOHHHHHHHH levels I didnt know thats what you meant by input and output. I never use levels!! There's a different way to get to levels on gimp so that's why i was confused!!! :)

All you have to do is get a fill color
layer and fill with a light pink
and set to color burn and work
with the opacity and all and then get
a hue/sat and try that I think it will
work right. I'll try that when I get my program.
