Right. Well. Using Gimp Can Be A Hassle Sometimes.
Especially When You're Trying To Cut Pictures And Stuff.
Of Course, First Instincts Are To Go For The Lasso Tool, Right?
WRONG! Take It From Someone Who Knows. That Tool WILL NOT HELP!
In Fact, Stay Away From That Tool AT ALL COSTS. It Will Just Ruin Your Graphics.
So. Today. We're Going To Learn How To Make Your Graphic Go From Looking Like THIS (http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/ff342/MF_4Ever/Tutorial/WRONG.png) To THIS (http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/ff342/MF_4Ever/Tutorial/WOO.png)
( haha So; For The Actual Tut... I Changed The Pictures. But It's Still The Same Thing Basically :P )
** NOTE: This Computer I'm On Is Being Really Dumb Right Now; So No Screen Caps.
I'll Try My Best To Explain Things. But It's All Pretty Basic. So Hopefully It Won't Be Too Hard.

You Can Ignore All The Coloring And Everything; I Just Did That Because I Was Bored.
Our Main Focus Point Is The Desaturated Picture On The Left.
So When You Go To Do The Whole Cut-Out Thing. Again; STAY AWAY FROM THE LASSO TOOL.
No. What You Actually Want Is The Paths Tool.
It's All Pretty Simple Really. Just Outline What You Don't Want
( You Can Outline What You Want; But You Would Just Have To Make Sure You Invert At The End. )
Once You Have It All Outlined, Click "Selection From Path"
Then You Delete It; And Voila. You've Got Your Picture All Cut Out With
Nice, Fine Edges Instead Of The Gross, Jagged Ones :)
You Can Cut All Around The Person Too If You'd Like. So You Don't Get The Outline Type Of Thing In The Picture.
Just Do The Same Thing As In This; Only Place The Outline Closer To The Person Or Thing In Your Picture.
An Example I Have Is This (http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/ff342/MF_4Ever/2U/h42d.png) Here Graphic I Made 80 years Ago.
If You Have Any Questions; Or Need Something Further Explained - Don't Hesitate To Ask.
