I'm doing a concert at a smallish theme park with a group of people (we all get our solo's).

I have extreme stage fright... and when I get nervous I can't sing well...

any words of advice? any tricks to shake off the nerves?

ps: it's this weekend *hides face*

I've heard you sing and you're AMAZING, though I doubt that's really going to help you too much :P
Depending on what time the concert is and if it's dark, you might not even be able to SEE the audience which believe me, is a definite plus. If not, kind of focus on a spot behind the audience, if that makes any sense at all.

i'm jealous

but srsly i'll be no help with this
so i'll just tell you

that i've heard you sing and you are INSANELY awesome
and just think that if you DON'T do it or do it half way...you'll look way stupider than
if you just give it your all and suck.

after all, madonna/cher/janet jackson have worse voices than YOU do...but look at
how big they've made it

just picture someone that calms you down is in the audience

omg, thats sooo cool!. idk what to tell you,
i get extremely nervous when i sing too!.
sometimes i just picture someone i really admire
[i know this sounds dumb] like miley cyrus or someone,
then when i sing i reeallyy want to impress them. it
works for me, idk if it will work for you hahaha. also,
i learned this breathing exercise that calms your nerves.
but it is also weird :P you cover one nostril with your finger
and breathe in, then cover the other nostril and breathe out.
haha, it sounds really weird but it actually works!. hope i helped (:

good luck Kristin! :)
And like Lukkistar said, just pick one spot and focus on that. Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll be like a random tree, and then u could stare at it to get ur mind off the crowd. :P
Also once your up there, u may even forget about the crowd b.c. ur having so much fun singing.

Hey, don't worry too much, I really like your singing ;)
And also I'm sure the crowd will be impressed. If you want, you could try doing warmups and maybe get hyped up! :D Or just bounce on the spot.

i always start shaking when i'm about to sing in front of a crowd. its annoying because i've done it a lot, but the shaking never seems to go away... but usually after a few lines or so, i get more confident. the end of my songs are always better and stronger than the beginnings haha.

imagine you're famous or something, and all the people watching are fans. they came to see you because they already know you can sing, and they wanted to hear you. everyone there is there to support you, so even if you mess up, they won't mind, they just want to see you doing what you love. especially if you have family and friends watching, they'll support you no matter what.

and that focusing on something just above or behind the audience thing, it does work. whenever i try to make eye contact with people, sometimes i feel stupid, but that helps.

well this is what i do when ever i sing in front of a big crowd. (which is alot actually) i try to picture everyone doing what i can do which is get up in front of everyone. what ever you do don't, DON'T picture them naked...it scars you 4 life. if that doesn't work then try doing ZAP. you get on you knees and you start moving your arms like the side of a train and star saying zap but only extend your z's till you get to the point when your standing (while your saying ZZZZ you rise slowly) then when u r standing up you throw your hands up and say ZAP!!! that usually gets me pumped up and i forget about my nerves for a while, then when the nerves wanna come back then your already used to the crowd

yeah, look at the back of the audience.
dont look directly, at them because then you'd get nervous.
good luck!

pretend you're performing with nick or joe jonas. either that or pretend they're in the audience. whichever helps. lol

I wouldn't look at any perticular person or think of them.
That would make me more nervous. Maybe look sort of unfocus into the crowd or the back. Were you aren't really looking at people or anything.
I don't know. The last time I sang a solo for a play or something like that, I looked down at the mic the whole time. xD
