yay, she did it. BTW I know the first HM soundtrack debuted at number one but I guess they don't count that as a Miley album?

Miley Cyrus will land her second No. 1 album on The Billboard 200 tomorrow (July 30), as "Breakout" (Hollywood) bows with 371,000 U.S. copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That's the second-biggest sales week of the year for a female artist, following the 463,000 debut of Mariah Carey's "E=MC2" (Island/IDJMG).
Cyrus' last album, the half soundtrack, half studio set "Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus" (Hollywood/Walt Disney), started at No. 1 last summer with 326,000.
The first "Hanna Montana" soundtrack, which launched her recording career, also bowed at No. 1 in 2006, with first-week sales of 281,000. It went on to be the best seller of that year's fourth quarter with less than three months of shelf life.
Debuting in the runner-up slot on The Billboard 200 is country duo Sugarland with the deluxe version of "Love on the Inside" (314,000). It's easily the Mercury Nashville act's best sales week and highest charting album ever. The band's previous high came with 2006's "Enjoy the Ride," which debuted and peaked at No. 4 with 211,000.
Sugarland also enjoys the best sales week for any country act since the Eagles' "Long Road Out of Eden" (ERC) shifted 359,000 in its second week of release last fall.
Sugarland has another reason to celebrate, as "Love on the Inside" becomes its first No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart. The duo's first two sets, "Twice the Speed of Life" and "Enjoy the Ride," peaked at Nos. 3 and 2, respectively.
Next week will mark an interesting sales test, as the standard edition of "Love on the Inside" bowed in stores today (July 29); those sales will be merged with the deluxe edition's total next week. The standard edition lacks five bonus tracks found on the deluxe version.

We already knew that she did it from HITS Daily Double, though as I said they were off a couple of thousand. A couple of thousand low in this case.
I don't know how they count them, last year they were all about the youngest singer ever to have two number ones within a year. The thing probably is that the first Hannah Montana soundtrack is officially a compilation album.

or quite possibly, the first ablum wasn't a Miley ablum, the 2nd one had a entire Miley side.

I have nothing else to add. I'm just happy that she's going to be number 1.

Miley has always been credited with the Hannah Montana songs so Billboard most certainly would credit her for those. The first album just has those four songs on there that have nothing to do with Miley.
Doesn't matter that much anyway, I say she had her third number one (seeing that's how most people see it). The fact that the first one wasn't technically a Miley album doesn't matter.

Yay! She deserves it! :) I'm sure she'll have a big party. As far as I know, this was counted as her first Miley album because the other one had a Hannah side.

nope the 2nd one had a soundtrack side(hannah) and a studio album side(Miley) so this is Miley's second studio album, her 3rd album in general.
wow, 2nd only to Mairah for the year in weekly sales, go Miley. didnt madonna release an album this year? I love Miley but how the heck did she top Madonna, lol.

Oceanup posted an article about her being number one. Take a wild guess as to how a certain group reacted to it.

lol, I'm laughing at the comments so much.
anyways not complaining but still trying to figure out how she outsold Madonna, lol.

Well I kind of avoid that, but I saw it this time.
I'm like rolling on the floor laughing at them saying the JBs will outsell Miley and bla bla bla, and some people said that their fanbase is wider and bla bla, like shut up dude... a HUGE amount of Jonas Brothers fans just love them because they're cute, so thats ridiculous.
Yero34
07-30-2008, 01:06 AM
I'd love to argue with them, but it's fruitless. Seriously, it's like trying to negotiate with a terrorist. No, I didn't compare them to terrorists.
Let's count all the ways their statement are innaccurate. Well, let's not, because that's also a waste of time. Camp Rock debuted as 2 or 3. Not one. And I'm pretty sure every JB fan bought that. What else? JB are not selling out concerts. Miley's fanbase is more diverse. It is not four and five year olds. It is 2-80, if I had to guess.
flutesinger262
07-30-2008, 01:09 AM
you know A Little Bit Longer may sell more albums the first week then Breakout did, all the JB's fans are going to go buy it the first day, but in the long run Breakout is going to outsell A Little Bit Longer.
Yero34
07-30-2008, 01:11 AM
But how big is their actual fanbase? They don't sell out their concerts, Camp Rock wasn't number one, the ratings kind of sucked in proportion for what was expected, etc. I think their fanbase is loud, not big.
flutesinger262
07-30-2008, 01:17 AM
who knows. All i know is that I'm getting dizzy reading the comments on Oceanup. Also what I think is going to hurt them, they're going to have four singles released by the time the album comes out. Their fans probably won't want to rebuy the songs they already purchased and instead of purchasing the album they're going to buy the remaining songs individually. If you don't by the entire album on iTunes, I don't think it counts as you purchasing the album.
I think if A Little Bit Longer beats breakout, it will barely do it and it definately won't outsell it in the long run.
It sucks that oceanup had to bring the JB's into this, this was Miley's thing. She earned this, and they had to go take away from it by dragging the JB's into it. Its not fair to Miley.
mileyrulz
07-30-2008, 01:18 AM
Miley has had 3 albums go to #1. How many have JB had? None. So why are the "fans" convinced that that is going to change?
Yero34
07-30-2008, 01:21 AM
Yeah, when I saw them write "Do you think the JB will outsell Miley?" I saw red. This is her moment, and they just can't stand it. They can't stand that she's popular, that she's lightning in a bottle, diamond in the rough material. What is with this "The JB songs go right to number one on Itunes" crap? I'm pretty sure "I Kissed A Girl" is number one.

Its like... actually if they outsell Miley, it will be because of the obsessed psycho fans that think about them every single second and dream with marrying them, and thats sad, because even though a lot of people love them because of their music, the psycho ones that dream with marrying them prevail and are many, many more.
I love them because of their music, them being cute is only a plus, and I am one of those who will buy the album because of their music, not because they are cute, hot or whatever, but mostly thats not this group that prevails, but the crazy ones, unfortunately.
I really want them to sell a lot of copies, but I don't like the fact that the wild fans that want to marry them will be a huge part of that only because of that factor, their looks.
mileyrulz
07-30-2008, 01:23 AM
Exactly. Miley's one of a kind and JB is just a manufactured run of the mill boyband.
mileyrulz
07-30-2008, 01:24 AM
No offence, but the only reason why JB will sell anywhere near the amount that Miley sold is becuase the fans buy anything and everything with their face on it.

If everyone(JB and Miley fans) put aside their biases(is that a word), and just looked at the numbers in ticket sales, album sales, turnout, etc, the difference would probably be pretty steep.

do you guys think Miley knows yet? I know she said her mom wasn't letting her bring her computer but hopefully she brought her cellphone and some called her to let her know that how great Breakout's doing.
Yero34
07-30-2008, 03:10 AM
I hope so. She'll probably be thrilled. I hope they didn't cut off all means of communication. lol.
flutesinger262
07-30-2008, 03:14 AM
I'm kinda hoping they did so that Miley is actually relaxing. Even if she didn't let Miley bring hers I'm sure Tish has her cellphone. Miley will be absolutely estatic. During sound check at GMA she was saying how she thought no one would be there because her cds not associated with HM. And she wasn't saying that she seemed so geninuely shocked to see that many people there. So I'm sure she'll be estatic to find out shes number one and crushed her opening week number from HM2:MMC.
Yero34
07-30-2008, 03:17 AM
Yeah, I can't see her being too relaxed if she's biting her nails wondering how she fared. lol. I wonder where they went. She left last night right?
flutesinger262
07-30-2008, 03:26 AM
yep, she said she was leaving last night and going to be away for four day. I'm so glad Tish surprised Miley with a vacation , the girl needed it so bad. I was seriously worried we were going to read about Miley ending up in a hosptial or something.
Yero34
07-30-2008, 03:28 AM
Yeah, that was nice. Let's bet on where they went. I'm going to say Hawaii. The kid seriously needed a break. I knew her parents would reign it in before it got too out of control.
flutesinger262
07-30-2008, 03:34 AM
lol, I can't believe Miley actually believed that Billy Ray had no clue that Tish was taking her on vacation, lol. Of course he knew, lol. Yeah, she really needed it and deserved it. I think its Hawaii too. They usually have press conferences for these awards shows, Miley as the host will definately be their so I'm sure she'll tell everyone where she went on vacation.
Yero34
07-30-2008, 03:37 AM
Ha, that was awesome. I love how he was all "Of course I know where you're going." He sounded like "you think there's ever a time when I don't know where you are." lol. She seriously needed the break. That'd be funny if her mom just came into her room and said "we're going to Hawaii, get dressed." Lol.
flutesinger262
07-30-2008, 03:41 AM
lol, thats exactly what it sounded like. lol.
lol, I wonder why Tish wouldn't tell her where she was taking her. lol. I guess she wanted it to be a surprise.
She really did need the break, especially right now
Yero34
07-30-2008, 03:45 AM
Yeah, I loved that. They're such awesome parents. I think if there was ever a time when they didn't know where Miley was, they would tear their hair out. lol. I hope the place she goes isn't crawling with paparazzi.
flutesinger262
07-30-2008, 03:53 AM
obviously its not or we'd have seen pics already. actually i don't know what it is but all of a sudden Miley's really kept the paparazzi off her for the most part. the stuff from the weekend were the first shots we saw in a week and a half, and we all know Miley had been out and about during that timespan.
Yero34
07-30-2008, 03:55 AM
Good. The kid needs to relax, a lot. She doesn't need to worry about them stalking her. She's been back for a while, and other than those jerks from the weekend, it's been pretty quiet.
flutesinger262
07-30-2008, 08:18 AM

man the media's going crazy with this Katy story, i hope it doesn't take away from the Billboard chart news today

I don't think it will. Lord knows people are going to try and portray Miley as homophobic, but I think the album will outweigh that.

I think this a press release from hollywood records, of course talking about how great Miley is, lol. Also 11 of Breakouts 12 tracks debut in the top 200 digital tracks charts with 891,000 tracks sold over all. Pretty good Miles, lol.:

Miley Cyrus' Breakout Debuts at # 1; Third Consecutive # 1 Debut for Hannah Montana Star!
Last update: 9:07 p.m. EDT July 30, 2008
BURBANK, Calif., July 30, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Miley Cyrus, star of Disney's hit series Hannah Montana, makes her solo debut with the release of "Breakout" on Disney's Hollywood Records, with her biggest sales debut, scanning over 372,000 units. Cyrus co-wrote 8 of the songs of the smash album.
"Breakout" is the third debut at # 1 for the 15-year-old superstar. In fall of 2006, the first "Hannah Montana" soundtrack debuted at # 1 on the Billboard Top 200, the first ever soundtrack to do so, selling over 280,000 units. It is now triple platinum with over 3 million units sold worldwide. The highly anticipated follow-up, Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus, a two-disc set from Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records, debuted at # 1 less than a year later, scanning over 325,000 units, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Miley Cyrus is the youngest ever recording artist with three # 1 albums in less than 2 years.
The build up to the release of Breakout started with Miley's first single and video "7 Things." The single soared to # 1 at Radio Disney, and top 5 at iTunes. The video, directed by Brett Ratner, debuted on ABC's Wonderful World of Disney, rotates on Disney Channel and leapt into the top 5 at MTV's TRL.
Digitally, "7 Things" has sold over 700,000 units. Eleven songs from Breakout debuted in the Top 200 Digital Tracks chart, with 891,000 digital tracks sold over all.
This month, Miley was on the covers of Billboard and TV Guide magazines, and a special edition of People Magazine. Miley also performed to record crowds with early morning concerts on ABC-TV's Good Morning America and NBC-TV's Today Show. In addition, Miley hosted two episodes of MTV, and had a record setting Saturday night debut of "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus, Best of Both Worlds" 3-D movie on the Disney Channel, defeated all cable and broadcast television shows that night.
Following her performance this week on MTV's Friday Night show, and hosting of Monday's Teen Choice Awards, Miley will return to the set of Hannah Montana to film seasons 3 and 4. Miley recently wrapped filming "Hannah Montana The Movie," and also stars as the voice of Penny in the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures animated comedy adventure "Bolt," opening Nov. 26, 2008 ( http://www.disney.com\BOLT (http://www.disney.com/BOLT)).
"Hannah Montana" is seen on Disney Channels all over the world and on DisneyChannel.com via streaming broadband video. It is also available at the iTunes Music Store. In 2006 and 2007-to-date, it is the #1 series on basic cable television with kids age 6 - 14. The series is also seen Saturday morning on the ABC Television Network's "ABC Kids" programming block.
More information on Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus can be found on DisneyRecords.com. Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records are part of the Disney Music Group, the recorded music and music publishing arm of the Walt Disney Company.
