QUOTE I went to the man in the know: Gary Marsh, president of entertainment for Disney Channels Worldwide.
The latest on a "Camp Rock" sequel: "We're starting to break stories," Marsh said. There's no timetable on when the sequel to this summer's high-rated movie would premiere.
"We gotta work around everybody's incredibly busy schedules," he said. "We gotta get the script and the music right, because we won't do this until we the script and the music right."
"Hannah Montana," the TV show and big-screen movie: "We're working with the feature group," Marsh said. "The whole idea is to introduce certain elements on the TV show that will then will lead very naturally into how the feature rolls out in May of next year."
Those elements will be about character development, explaining why the Miley character goes a certain direction in the movie.
Production on the sitcom's third season starts Aug. 4, Marsh said.
New episodes could begin on Disney Channel in November and continue through May. Marsh plans to have new episodes ready to air after the movie' opening.
"High School Musical": The movie releases in October. "It's really become a theatrical franchise," Marsh said. "Let's see what happens with that."
The next movie could be for television or the multiplex. "In success, I'm sure the studio would want to pursue something bigger," Marsh said. "They can certainly afford to go bigger than I can.
New series with Demi Lovato and Jonas Brothers will arrive next year. Lovato's project, a multicamera show called "Welcome to Mollywood," could debut in February or March. The Jonas Brothers project, a single-camera show titled "J.O.N.A.S.," would arrive later, possibly May or June.
Marsh gave another vote of confidence to the Disney Channel Games returning to Disney World next year.
"The goal is to come back every year," he said. "We are acting as if we'll come back. It was a spectacular experience for us."
The five-week Disney Channel Games programminng starts at 8 p.m. July 27.
