A: Sorry, I've already written the first two chapters, and I can't really fit anyone in.
Q: How are we doing the chapters this time?
A: I'm going to post them on this post. It's been a while since I got to do that, and name them.
Q: It's not an original idea.
A: That's not a question. And I know. I haven't read any of the others, so I hope me is different.

1. Replacement
Tabitha’s POV
“The blue one or silver one?” My best friend Elizabeth “Lizzy” Mitchell asks me.
We’re laying stomach down on her bed, with our feet at her pillows and our heads at the bottom.
I lean over her shoulder to see the magazine she’s looking at.
“I dunno. I don’t like to wear dresses.” I say.
“Stop being such a boy. This is prom. You have to wear a dress.” Lizzy says annoyed.
I twirl my stick straight blonde hair with my middle finger. It’s true. I am like a boy.
I love every sport, getting dirty, and hate all things girly. And it just so happens that Lizzy is the complete opposite.
“You are going to prom aren’t you?” Lizzy asks warily.
“I don’t know.” I say honestly.
“You have to go! I mean everyone there all ready hates me, you’re like the only person who isn’t a backstabber.” Lizzy says wanting to guilt me into it.
Lizzy’s 16. She may be book smart, but [don’t tell her I said this] she’s like stupider than tuna. Unless tuna’s smart. You know what…never mind!
“You forget Rick.” I say. Lizzy rolls her eyes and tosses her straight blonde hair over her shoulder. Unlike mine, Lizzy’s hair is gorgeous. It’s smooth, silky, and shiny.
Anyway Rick is Richard McDowell, he lives across the street from Lizzy and moi, and he’s our age, well my age – 18. Well really, we live in a cul-de-sac, so everyone lives across from us. Unless you live right next to them then you’re neighbors.
“What about Rick?” Lizzy asks.
“He’s your date.” I say raising an eyebrow.
She pursues her lips together as to say “So what?”
“What did you say yes out of pity?” I ask.
“Duh. I said yes because I knew you’d turn him down.” And she looks back down at the magazine, flipping through the pages.
I whip my head at her.
“What are you talking about?” I ask.
She looks up at me with her innocent blue eyes. Innocent if you haven’t known her all your life.
“Whatever do you mean?” She asks very fake.
“Okay, Rick doesn’t like me, and I thought you did.” I say.
“Like you? Tabitha I thought you knew I was straight.” Lizzy says.
“I thought you liked him. Think before you speak.” I say.
“No way. He’s like ew.”
I roll off the bed – Matrix style. Well until Lizzy gives me a “helpful” push.
“Hey.” I say barely being able to see past all my hair. It has successfully landed in my face. While I lay on the ground, I ended up landing on my butt, which kind of hurts.
I flip my hair back, and stand up to brush myself off. Not that there’s much to brush off. I’m wearing my PJ’s: short boxer shorts, and an oversized jersey.
“Well you wanted off. I just though you needed a push.” She doesn’t even look up from the magazine.
Her PJ’s are like the opposite of mine. She’s wearing one of the dress things. I can’t stand them, I like pants and shorts, and I mean I don’t even wear a dress to church I wear dress pants. This could be because I was brought up with the three boys would used to live in the house on my other side. And let’s not forget dear old Rick.
I leap back on the bed. And land face first in the comforter. I sit up and look at her cover.
“New?” I point to the make-up design cover.
She nods. What is so interesting in that magazine? I personally think that they’re just money wasters. Three bucks for pure gossip.
I lay back down where I had been previously.
“What is in this magazine?” I ask playfully tugging it.
“Nothing.” She says quickly. She grips it tighter.
“What?” I ask more suspiciously.
“Nothing, it’ll upset you.”
“No it won’t.” I reassure her.
She slowly hands it over.
I grab it and laugh, until I see what she’s looking at. I drop my smile like a hot potato, and I feel like someone just told me my mom died.
“See, I told you.” Lizzy says apologetically.
I shove it back into her hands.
I look at her avoid crying.
“You haven’t cried since, have you?” She asks almost joyful, even though, now her eyes are watery.
“Only when no one could hear me.” I say and avoid springing a leak.
She smiles.
“I got something you’d like.” She says.
I blink back my tears.
“It’s here somewhere.” She says and walks to her vanity. It’s cluttered. I was always the more organized one.
“Got it!” She yells and jumps back on the bed.
“What is it?” I ask as she slowly pulls it from behind her back.
“Close your eyes.”
I do as I’m told.
“Open.”
My mouth drops.
I grab the CD and run to her CD player, and put it in.
“Footloose” starts playing. Ever since I finally saw that movie I wanted the CD.
“You’re welcome.” Lizzy says laughing while I dance around.
And for the rest of the night that’s what we do.
INVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVIS IBLEINVISIBLE
“Mom?” I ask as I walk through the front door. I pull my key out and close the door, locking it. You can never be too safe.
I guess she went early to the museum. Her job is to like lecture people about the World Wars. I think it’s boring but then I’ve lived with it my whole life so…
I know my dad isn’t home. He’s in Japan, and he’s an accountant. I don’t know why Japan needs him, but whatever. At least Lizzy’s dad went too.
“Okay.” My voice echoes through the house, and sends a chill down my spine. I hate being alone it just reminds me…
I sit down at my parent’s computer. I see the wallpaper and smile a sad smile.
It’s a picture of me, and one of the boy’s who used to live next door. He is [he’s still living] my age, and dressed as a ghost. I’m dressed as a witch. Not that I wanted to be a witch, I wanted to be Anastasia from that movie, but no I had to be a witch.
I think you need to hear the story of why I have such a funky first name. Ever heard of the old TV show Bewitched? Well, my mom is obsessed with it. Her name is Samantha and our last name is Stevens. Of course, thank god or else this would have been way freaky, my dad’s name is David. But David is close to Darrin, so… Anyway, that’s why my name is Tabitha, since Darrin and Samantha’s first child was named Tabitha. And the weirdest part of all: I can do the nose twitch. I do it when I’m nervous, and sometimes I’ll do it without thinking. Of course people get all worked up about it [“Wow! You can do it just like Elizabeth Montgomery!”] But it’s fun.
I sigh and get up from the computer, depressed.
I grab my cell phone and sit on one of the stools in the kitchen.
“Yello?” I hear Lizzy ask.
“Hey.” I say miserable.
“Hey? What’s up?” She asks.
“Nothing.” I say.
“It’s not Alyssa is it?” She asks.
Alyssa McDowell is Rick’s little sister. She’s fifteen turning sixteen soon. You might think that Lizzy and Alyssa would get along, but they don’t. Lizzy thinks she’s better because she’s one year older. Don’t tell Lizzy I said this, but Lizzy thinks she better than like everyone. Except Clara but that’s a way different story.
Anyway back to Alyssa, she’s a quiet girl. Very shy, but she’s like gorgeous, and I think Lizzy’s a little jealous of Alyssa’s looks.
“Why would it be Alyssa?” I sit on one of the kitchen stools.
“Well, I don’t know. Hey have you heard from them lately?” Lizzy asks.
How rude. I mean she knows that that subject hurts.
“Elizabeth Katherine Mitchell you know that it’s been a year and a half since I’ve had any contact.” I say nearly choking.
“It’s been only a year for me. Why would they do that to you? I bet they’re gonna call you soon.” Lizzy says. Only a year? Do they hate me or something?
I hang up on her. I can’t stand her upbeat attitude. Actually, I can’t stand her at times. I glance over at the computer screen.
He was my best friend, and no matter how hard Lizzy tries, she’ll never be able to replace him.

2. Drop The Phone
Tabitha’s POV
“You totally dominated the floor!” Rick says, and I laugh. We’re at the end of our little circle.
“Sports just come natural.” I say. I’m leaning on the stop sign, and we’re waiting for the bus. And Lizzy. She likes to be fashionably late, and to annoy the rest of us.
“But nobody is better than you. Not even the guys.” Rick says.
I shrug, “It helps being raised with guys.”
Silence.
Nobody here likes to talk about that. Even at school, everyone [and I do mean everyone] made a pact not to talk to anyone about it.
“Not me.” Rick says desperately trying to break the silence.
“C’mon, you can do sports.” I say.
“Ping pong, and I even suck at that.”
I let out a hearty laugh.
“Hey.” A mousy voice says. It’s Alyssa.
“Sup?” I ask.
“Test, that’s all.”
As you can see, Lizzy has no reason to fear Alyssa. She’s just a little quiet and shy. And beautiful, which I guess is why Lizzy can’t stand her.
“What in?” Rick asks.
“Math.” Alyssa answers.
“So Lyssa –“ Lizzy barging her way over here cuts me off. She even clips Alyssa on the side. Totally uncalled for.
“What’s going on?” Lizzy asks, and shoots Alyssa the evil eye. Like she thinks Rick and I can’t see that.
“We were just talking about Lyssa’s math test.” Rick says.
“Oh.” Lizzy sounds disgusted. Sorry, we don’t want to always talk about you.
“Guess what I’m doing today?” Lizzy asks excited.
“What?” Rick asks like a good prom date.
“Helping to plan prom!” Lizzy says cheerfully.
“Tabitha you have to help me!” She says grabbing my arm.
“I can’t basketball practice.” I say glad for an excuse.
“Rick?” She asks hopefully.
“I’ve got a meeting with the Computer Club. I’m vice president.” Rick says.
She doesn’t ask Alyssa.
“Oh well. There comes the bus.”
INVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVIS IBLEINVISIBLE
“Miss Stevens?” Mr. Alexer asks in his bored out of my mind tone. I swear that’s all he talks in.
“Huh?” I’m daydreaming, and totally not paying attention.
“I don’t have time for silliness, please answer the question.” Well, school’s almost out and he has a newborn. Can ya blame him?
“I didn’t quite understand it-”
“You weren’t playing any attention.”
The class chuckles, and I feel my cheeks turning pink.
“I’ll answer it if you repeat it…please.”
“What countries were the Axi-”
“Japan, Italy and Germany.” I answer automatically. Gave me an easy one for sure.
“That’s right.” And he returns to the board.
I continue spacing out. Until the BRRRRIIIIINNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGG of the bell.
I slowly make my way out of the class. No need for Lizzy to see me.
I lied about practice; we just had our last game two days ago. That’s what Rick was talking about this morning.
I hate prom, so it’s not like I want to help fix it up.
“Miss Stevens?” Mr. Alexer asks.
I look up.
“The bell rang. You can go.” And he returns to going through his desk, shuffling papers.
“Two more minutes please.” I beg and wiggle my nose.
He looks up, and looks tired. I guess he stayed up with the baby last night.
“My friend is trying to rope me into prom committee, when I hate prom and really don’t wanna do it.” I blurt.
“Two minutes.” He says.
I wanna hug him, but don’t. How weird would that be?
INVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVIS IBLEINVISIBLE
“Mom? You home?”
No answer. I just remember she’s taking double shifts this week, won’t be home until dinner.
Okay, well it’s almost the end of school [one more week, and yes, the prom is in one week, but Lizzy just joined the committee, it was made like three months ago, I think] so really, no homework.
I walk up to my room, and put my Ipod in the speakers.
It blasts out some pop crap that Lizzy put on it.
Then my phone rings. I groan, what could Lizzy want now?
I cut the Ipod off and answer it, not looking at the number.
“Hello?” I ask.
“Tabitha?” A distant but somewhat familiar voice says.
“Dad?” I ask.
“Tabitha? Tabitha Stevens?” This is creeping me out.
I don’t say anything, but I’m sure they can hear me breathing.
“Tabitha? Is that you? Hello?”
“Wwwho aaarre youuuu?” I ask nervously.
“It’s me!”
I’m terrified, I don’t know who “me” is.
“Tabitha? Tabberz?”
I drop the phone. There’s only one person in the world that has ever called me Tabberz.
“Tabitha are you still there?” The voice says. I slowly pick it up.
“Hello?” They try.
I put the phone to my ear.
I whisper one word and it’s barely audible.
“Joe?”

3. Not Completely Forgotten
Tabitha’s POV
“TABITHA!” I hear the joyful person on the phone say.
“Joe is is that you?” I ask, and I sit on my bed.
“Duh! It worked, I can’t believe it worked!”
This is not happening. This is not happening.
“Tabberz how are you?” Joe asks ecstatically.
“How am I?” I ask suddenly angry.
“Yeah.” Joe’s a little scared. Good.
“After two years of no contact, you ask me ‘How are you?’” I say and get up.
“Tabitha, I called you like every week, you never answered. Nick just had this idea a few weeks ago-”
“Save it for your show.” I say, and pace back and forth.
“Which one?”
“Has your head gotten that big? Cause the Joe Jonas I knew was the goofy class clown that had big dreams of making it big. Not some ‘rock star’ that doesn’t even care about anyone.” I say.
“I’m still the same the guy you knew!” Joe yells through the phone. It cracks up.
“Really? Doesn’t sound like it.” I say, and sit on the floor.
“Then I’ll prove it Miss Bewitched.” Joe sneers.
That does it! I do the one thing I know will piss him off as much as I am now.
I slam the phone shut.
And it feels good.
Then I realize something.
He hasn’t forgotten me.
Because he called.
He called.
Me.

4. The Final Word Is Spoken
Tabitha’s POV
How many nights in a row can you eat Mac & Cheese? Because tonight is my fifth, and both the Mac and the Cheese aren’t very fulfilling.
“How’s the food?” My mom asks me.
I’m just staring at it, hoping that maybe it’ll turn into tacos.
“Like yesterday, and the day before yesterday and the day before the day before yesterday and the day-”
“Got it.” My mom says and I sneak a peek up.
She hasn’t touched hers either.
“Okay I can’t take it.” She bangs her hands on both sides of her plate; they make a large crash sound.
I look up.
“Take what?” I ask.
“You can go I really don’t want you to beg me. So yes.” She sighs and picks at her food.
“Beg you for what? Baseball camp? Mom, I already told you that I didn’t want to go. I hate beating the boys.” I say.
“Stop fooling around. The answer’s yes.”
“FOR WHAT?” I raise my voice higher than I mean to. She looks up at me.
“You don’t know. Didn’t he, didn’t he ask you?” She says puzzled.
“Didn’t who ask me what?” I ask as confused as her.
“That’s strange. You’d think-”
“Mom.” I say, she snaps out of her thought train.
“Didn’t Joe ask you to spend the week with him?” She says.
I drop my fork.
So this is what he means by proving it to me.
“He said he talked to you.”
“Crap.” I kick the table.
“Tabitha! Don’t kick the table, and watch your language!”
“No, it’s just apparently we broke up before he got to that.”
“Did the phone break up?”
“No,” I play with the hair that’s underneath the rest, “I kinda, sorta, hung up on him.” I say and give a grin.
My mom blinks.
“You kinda, sorta hung up on your best friend?” She asks.
“He’s not my best friend. He hasn’t talked to me in over a year.” I say defensively.
“He said he tried to call you-”
“I’m not going.” I say and get up and up my plate next to the sink.
“Tabitha Stevens!” My mom says.
“What?” I ask madly.
“You’re going and that’s final!”
When Mom says something’s final, it’s final.
I stomp to my room, but inside [even though I’m ticked] I secretly wanted to go.
And more good news.
I get to miss prom.

5. Hello, Hollywood
Tabitha’s POV
“You’re really going to leave me here for the rest of school?” Lizzy asks as we sit in my hammock in the backyard.
“It’s just a week.” I say.
“I can’t believe your relatives want you to come out for the last week of school! You’ll miss prom! You’ll miss me at prom!”
Yeah, I didn’t exactly tell her the whole truth. No reason for her to get all worked up and mad at me.
“C’mon. I’ll be back prom night, but I’ll probably be jet lagged.” I say hoping to make her feel better.
“Okay, okay. Oh and here,” she hands me an envelope, “two prom tickets. Incase you meet a cute guy.” She says and gives a sad smile.
Yeah, sure, I’ll bring Orlando Bloom to prom. HA!
She jumps off the hammock.
“I got to get home. So goodbye, for now, I won’t be able to say it tomorrow.” She says and walks to the fence and jumps it into her yard. That’s about as physical as she gets.
Now I lay in the hammock.
I get on a plane to LA tomorrow.
Hollywood here I come!
INVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVISIBLEINVIS IBLEINVISIBLE
I officially hate planes; I hadn’t ever ridden in one before, and now that I’m off. I hate ‘em.
Although I got to talk to this elderly lady sitting next to me, she was nice. And she loved my nose wiggle, doesn’t everyone?
Well I have my one piece of luggage with me and now I’m walking out the gate.
The first thing I see is metal. Bright shining, blinding metal. It burns. Then my eyes adjust, and I see people waiting for their people, but I don’t see my people. Or person, depending on who came.
The first thing I look for is a mob. There’s none. I guess their playing incognito.
I move out of the way of the people behind me as they rush to see their loved ones, and almost get run over by this family who are trying to get a cab.
Then a sick thought. Maybe they aren’t coming to get me. Maybe I’m being stranded. Maybe this was all a cruel joke.
Then I spot it.
The hat I gave Joe for his 13th birthday. I walk over to him slowly. I think it’s time for a joke. Something that he will appreciate.
His back is to me, and I lightly tap his shoulder.
He turns around.
“Are you Joe Jonas?” I ask in an excited whisper.
I see his eyes go big behind his white-rimmed sunglasses.
“Yeah.” His voice is shaking.
“What’s your name?” He asks regaining posture.
I wiggle my nose.
“Tabitha?” He asks trying and failing to show his excitement.
“The one and only Mister Big Head Rock Star.” I say, and instantly get crushed in a hug.
“Joe can’t breathe.” I whisper and he lets go.
His smile is as big as the sun.
“You haven’t hugged me like that since I stopped those bullies from beating you up.” I say and chuckle.
He chuckles too, but I notice the small strain between us.
“Let me text Kevin and Nick and we’ll go. They’re around here somewhere.” Joe says and pulls out a fancy phone. His thumbs are a blur and in like ten seconds he puts his phone away.
“What?” He noticed me staring.
“Dude, your fast.” I say.
“Gotta be when you’re in the fast lane.” Joe says, and laughs.
I give a weak smile.
“That wasn’t funny.” I say. He returns to the serious face he had when I tricked him. Like I said, there’s tension.
Then a poke in my right shoulder, without even turning around, I say, “Nick.”
Viola! I was right. I turn around and give him a hug.
“You’ve gotten taller.” Nick points out.
“So have you.”
I’m the same height as Nick.
I turn and look at Kevin who’s standing next to Nick.
Then I notice something.
“Your hair. It’s, it’s not…straight.” I say confused.
“You’re right. It’s called curly hair.” Kevin says being a smartie.
I hit his shoulder.
“You used to be obsessed with straight hair. I remember you saying how lucky I was to have straight hair.” I say.
“Things have changed.” Kevin says.
I look down.
“Yeah, they have.” I say softly to myself.
“Like the fact you give everybody else a hug, but not me. You got something against old people?” He asks. I lift my head up with a grin.
“I can’t believe you just called yourself old.” I say.
“I can’t believe you haven’t given me a hug.” Kevin says back with a grin.
And I give him a hug. And Nick steals my luggage, well sorta, I put it down while I was talking to Joe and Nick picked it up. And wouldn’t give it back.
“I’m carrying it and you’re gonna like it.” He told me.
As we were walking out, Joe nudges me.
I turned to him.
He pointed to his sunglasses.
I nod and look in my purse. They aren’t in there. I frantically search again, without saying any thing. The three of them are talking about pool water. Joe and Kevin have always been obsessed with their hair. It always bugged me. I mean I just brush it, wash it, and pull it back. Nothing hard.
We’re at the door and still no sunglasses.
I bite my lip.
“Here.” Joe says softly and offers me his.
I shake my head no.
He shrugs.
As Kevin opens the door I’m blinded by the light.
Hey, the California sun is [I]bright, but my week doesn’t look like it.
The tension is too great.
