The crowd was chanting my name, this was it, I was going to get first! I was going to be the best in the state! Just one more hurdle and I win! Here it comes...just one more jump and I win! Uh-oh my foot just hit the hurdle and I'm fallling...I just saw the feet of the guy I was supposed to beat go past me...my hands are bleeding, oh well maybe I can still get 2nd or 3rd if I get up fast!...............Maybe not, I just got last. I'm so embarassed! What am I going to say to Caitlyn when I talk to her??? I like her soo much and even though she probably doesn't like me, I don't want her to think I'm not good! She's not the kind of girl that would care if I didn't do good, but still.....

Later that night, Sam and Caitlyn both sign onto IM to talk, like they do everynight.
cait: hey! how'd you do at state???
sam: uhhhh...not so good..i know i just signed on but i gotta go, i'll talk to you tomorrow
cait: oh ok...bye...

Caitlyn's POV
"Uhhg what was Sam's problem??....he didnt even stay on for 10 minutes! Usually we talk for 2 hours!" I was on the phone with one of the coolest people ever, Leslie! Even though we've never met in real life, shes one of my best friends. I tell her everything, and when Sam was going out Molly she talked me through it. "I have NOO clue.." she said. "Well I gotta go to bed, school tomorrow" "Ok, bye! And be sure to text me right away with what sam says!"

Sam's POV
Uhhg for once I wish Language Arts wouldn't end..For once I don't want to sit by Caitlyn in Social Studies because I don't want to look loser admitting I tripped over the last hurdle....here goes nothing. Good she's not in the classroom yet, maybe she went home because..oh never mind, she just set her stuff down next to me...Now she's talking to her friend Emily who's sitting across from me, maybe she forgot about it...yesss class just started so she wont be able to ask.

Caitlyn's POV
Should I ask him what happened at state or not...I don't wanna sound obsessed like I memorize everything we talk about but I wanna know...uh-oh the teacher just asked me a question...phewww sam answered it even though I was supposed to..I'll have to thank him for that later...ok what's going on, why is my friend's group table thing coming over here. Oh well, she'll ask him what happened...WHOA! I didn't even look at his hands, they have big scratches on them...Why isn't he telling her what happened..I guess I'll ask..."Sam, what happened to you??" "Uhh I fell over the last hurdle at state..." whoa didn't see that coming! He never messed up aww poor him...

Sam's POV
Uh-oh why isn't Caitlyn saying anything?? She's probably trying not to laugh at me because I tripped...
