I stood at the left-corner of the stage, backstage. My eye's were shut, I was anxiously waiting for my name to be called.
I fiddled nervously with the bottom of my shirt. I made it this far, why was I so nervous?
Well, this was the one that was going to be on live TV. The one that would hopefully change my life.
I wasn't even this nervous on the first round. Or even when I heard our school's rich girl's uncle owned Hollywood Records and convinced him to do a talent search at our school.
Of course, the girl didn't even make it to the second round.
" Michelle Daniels! "
I heard my name called, breaking me out of my trance.
I opened my eyes, and the whole area started spinning. My hand reached out to find something to hold and grabbed some sort of fabric.
The fabric wasn't that sturdy and before I knew it, I heard a loud ripping sound, and I was falling.
I let go, I had grabbed the backdrop, and it was falling on me.
I lost all direction while in there, when I found the opening I was in the middle of the stage.
My breath caught, when I heard the whole school laughing at me.
I ran to the right, off stage, wanting to escape all the laughing, my humilation, everything.

Chapter One;
Slowly I came aware of my surroundings. I heard my iPod playing, and the soft breathing of my friend Alexa to the right of me. I also heard the laughing that I endured last night.
" Alexa? ", I groaned.
" Eh? ", I heard her mumble sleepily.
" Tell me it was a dream. ", I rolled over to my side, and propped my head on my hand.
" Ohkay.... It was a dream. ", She replied, doing the same, while yawning.
Our eyes locked.
I flopped back on my back.
" Now tell me the truth. "
Silence. I groaned again.
" It honestly wasn't that bad, Micks. ", Alexa said, but only trying to make me feel better.
" Tell the laughing people that. And I have to face them Monday. ", I complained.
" Well, that's Monday, and today's Saturday. It'll blow over quickly. ", She replied. Again, trying to make me feel better. I sighed again.
The weekend passed too quickly and it was the morning of Monday.
I walked into the school, head down, and my dyed orange hair covering my face.
I made my way past snickering people and found the faces of my best friends by my locker.
" It's not blowing over. ", I mumbled to Alexa.
" It's only the first day. It'll be over by Friday. It's just something interesting. You had so much potential and you just blew it away- "
" Alexa, please! That's making it worse. ", I moaned.
" Mickey, it's fine. It was funny, I admit, but it's just you. Why are flipping out about it? ", Mandy asked.
" It was my one chance. Now I'm off to be the perfect daughter, the perfect priss, and go to college. I won't get a say in it. My dad has to control my life now. ", I answered.
Mandy sighed, she was just annoyed with my father as I was.
" That's not true, it's your life. "
" But my one chance didn't work out. This whole thing isn't going to work out. ", I replied, and as I said it, I realized it was true. I wasn't cut out for this. My dad was right.
" What?! Is Michelle Sarah Daniels giving up on her life-long dream? ", Alexa gasped.
I didn't answer, but I opened my locker, put the books in that I didn't need, and shut it.
" Just drop it. Nothing's going to change my disicion. Nor am I going to have this chance again. That's it. The end. Period. ", And my tone closed the subject.
