I just saw this story. It has been posted on various news sites. An indepedent lab has tested a number of Hannah Montana products and found some of them contained high levels of lead. So far nothing has been recalled.
I thought everyone should be aware of this.

I know I sound stupid for asking this, but what in the world is lead? :S

Lead is a soft type of metal that contains dangerous chemicals/substances that can harm (even kill) anyone who eats it, etc. It used to be used in a lot of children's toys, etc, but they replaced it with safter materials. It also used to be used in mechanical pencils, but they replaced it with sticks of graphite.
Or at least, I'm 99% sure that's correct...
That would be horrible if there was lead in the Hannah Montana products; I mean, so many people use them.

Ok, thanks.
And yea I agree. But as long as nobody eats it, everybody should be fine.
But if a baby or someone very little chews on it... Disney's gonna have a pretty big lawsuit.

I have to say, i'm not really surprised by this. I'm not trying to be racist in anyway, but the merchandise that's made in China, (children's cosmetics and toys) are usually the products that contain a high amount of lead, and other various harmful substances.
Although, there are a lot more serious cases than high lead content. Take the kids toy Bindees, for example, they had a substance in them that when consumed (eaten), turned into liquid gamma-hydroxybutyric acid, a.k.a. liquid GHB. The toy was immediately recalled after the hazardous substances discovery. Another example was some kids makeup sets (that were sold in Australia, and were banned after hazardous substance discovery), that had various harmful substances in it, i.e, the worst kind of acne inducing substance, currently known to man, in some of the eye shadow. Lets just hope that none of that evil stuff happens to any of the HM merchandise.
Ok, thanks.

It's not necessarily Disney that will come under fire for this because, some of the products may not be official.

^^ Yeah, of course you can, that's the only reason its hazardous. Lead is only hazardous if its absorbed by digestion or by breathing it in, if its in the air. A high level of lead is disruptive in the growth and development process, in 0-7 year olds...
