I am doing a school speech on why school is so important. I wasn't chosen, and it was required, but I felt doing this will help understand why school is so important. And I'm really pissed on how people think school is so un-important. The teacher gave me a couple of questions I had to answer somewhere in my speech. Here is what I have, I mostly started answering the questions.

A Reason, Why Some Kids, Don't Think School Is Important.
Kids and teenagers don't understand why it's so important. Kids want to be something amazing, and few teenagers do also. Most girls want to be famous. Having a singing, dancing, or acting career is very popular for them to want to become. Most boys want to do sports. Being a hockey player, or other sports. Some want to be a coach or trainer. With those dreams, it makes them think school doesn't help that dream. They don't know why the use of math, reading, language arts, or science with help. When they reach high school, they are all ready to drop out.

Why School Is Important.
It's important for many reasons. One is learning. Math help you do so many things you can't even imagine. It helps you with taxes, and regular basic things you do everyday. When you are shopping, and you check things out, you need to know if you are paying the right amount. People make mistakes, that you need to catch. Sometimes, you will be paying a big amount of cash that really isn't the right amount, so you will be paying that amount, and losing lots of money. There are many mistakes, that can be fixed with math. Reading and Language Arts help with spelling and grammer. Science helps with natural disasters and animals. You learn about volcanic activities, earthquakes, tsunamis, plate tectonics, and more. It helps you understand them, so that when you are in a middle of one of these natural disasters, you can expect what is going to happen, and know what to do. It teaches you the human body, so you know what to do when you are injured and alone, with no help. You never know what is going to happen, but lets said your lost in the wilderness, you need to know plants that are okay to eat, and plants to help you heal yourself if you are ever hurt. Science is very important as well. So, you might saw, school is only good for leaning. Not just learning, but other skills. Like responsiblities. When you do your homework at home, and working on projects at school, you are having responsibilites because it's your job in school, to do those things so you can learn.

What Is The Point Of Homework? I Don't Like It.
What's the point?! It's that when you are in school learning, many thoughts run through your head. Sometimes, you may not fully grasp the infomation. Homework helps you understand better on what you are learning. It helps you remember for future uses.

That's what I have so far. I'm going to add more soon. Tell me what you think, and if it makes you want to stay in school because that is the point of this speech. Tell me if it's good or bad. Also, any errors that I made. Thank you.

It seems very well written and thought out. Just one suggestion; for the reasons school is important, they seem either somewhat trivial or things with a very slim chance of happening. You may want to broaden them into daily life instances that people could more easily rate to rather than counting up prices at a superstore or knowing what to do in a natural disaster.

Oh, and by the way, very few science classes nationwide (U.S) teach survival skills intertwined with the science classes. Either you've gone on many hikes in your life, or you are anally screwed if you are ever lost. Today, we had a nature hike, and I've gone on many hiking trips throughout my life, but seeing my classmates walk around the mountain and hills, it becomes so evident how so many people now a days are true city folk and would have a minimal chance of survival should they ever be stranded alone. They do not teach you how to survive in school, it is rather a perfectly enclosed bubble (or is supposed to be, minus all the shootings), where they teach you how to deal with business world problems, not natural world problems.

That is a great speech! Do you have to memorize it, or just read it?!
