intro: Growing up to wealth can be a blessing AND a curse, for some... me... growing up in the sunny hills of Beverly, I was raised on large amounts of cash wads. My mother probably SWAM in money while my father worked day and night for it. I was sheltered... rarely outside the gates of our house for reasons other than school and food. My mother was really never a mother, I wondered why I even called her that, and my father was rarely ever seen.
Now when you shove a spoiled child into a mucky, dirty, misquito infested enviorment what are you to expect?Well... I was there for one reason and one reason only. The band.

Chapter One: The Application Flyers

I hummed a short song, rejoicing everytime the minute hand moved closer to the end of the period. Which was odd because I actually enjoyed english class. But this course seemed to drag on with every growing day and the books we'd read became more and more obvious as to what the climax and resolution would be.
Our teacher walked to the front of the class, gathering a stack of papers.
More grades? This should be intresting... English was the one class I could Ace. It was simple enough, although I never did my homework, my high test scores would always Bop! me to the top.
I assumed that one reason I hated the class was because of our teacher.
No she was not some old witch with a long crocked nose and a mole, who turned us into apples... ironically she was quite the opposite. She was about the age of 25.
She wore the latest in fashion trends, and was twiggy like skinny.
Instead of having another droning lecture, she filled our lessons with jokes and such. Which ofcourse, made me hate her more.
Why you ask? It is quite simple actually.
A woman with her beauty can only have so little enemies. Envious enemies.
The boys in the class seemed to fawn over her like she was a model dressed in the clothes of a teacher. Which again was another reason boys wanted them with her so much. The whole fantasy must have made them... happy.

The twig walked over to me and dropped the stack of papers on my desk, "Pass these out?" she asked holding a geniune smile on her face.
I jumped back... I turned my attention from the clock to her. "Eh-eh-eh pardon?"
She sighed and leaned off of my desk, "Pass these out?" she pushed the paper closer to me and rose an eyebrow
I sat upright, "Gladly..."

As I made my way around the class putting the papers on each desk I couldn't help but notice how the light seemed to hit the paper. It must have been photopaper. It was shiny.
Which is why it must had attracted me so. Then, my gaze wandered to the color. I ignored the sheen and stared at the brightness... then the large text.
I'm a simple child, and shiny color and big things like these tend to attract me, much like a fish would be attracted to a bait.

"Camp Rock..." I read the heading on the paper and tilted my head. "Becoming a rock star in five easy steps..."

I stopped walking.
Being a 'rock star' was always a dream for some, and very few ever get the chance because of competition.
So I was now faced with a somewhat hard decision... hand the Camp Rock posters to the competition, OR shove them in my backpack and steal the spotlight.
Yesssss, it was too easy.

"Kristin Stein why is your backpack so heavy?" My mother yelled as she pulled my bag from the passenger seat of our porshe.
I looked up at her, "Huh?"
"What is so wrong with you today? You seem... out of it."
I shook my head, "Oh the backpack... yeah sorry... I have... something to show you!"

My mother was not one to be messed with, she had zero tollerance for any lolligaging of any sort and thought laziness was a waste of time and money. Which to her were both very important factors in life. Because well... 1. she's gonna be 40 soon, she's running out of time. and 2. She was raised from money. Life without would seem unbarable.

She scoffed and walked over to me, "What now child?"
"Well mother" I said opening my book bag, "I have this... request I guess you could call it."
"Go on"
"There is this camp..."
"Camp?"
I nodded, "Did I stutter?" I quickly realized the error of my sarcastic remark and grabbed the subject we were previously on before she made a snarky remark back at me, "Camp. Camp Rock?"
"For druggie rockstars? Oh heavens no child!"
"No mom! To BE a rockstar..."
"Hunny you are not that talented." She said bluntly
"But I CAN Be! Mother I want this... bad!"

She stared at me for a few agonizing seconds, "I am not spending a dime on that... you on the other hand..." she paused, "Have a job in a couple minutes you must attend to. YOU can pay for this... Rocket Camp..."
"Camp Rock."
"Did I stutter?" she rolled her eyes and walked up the staircase. I assumed this conversation to be over.

DING DONG!
Door bell. The probably worst part of my day so far. I was never a people person, and I was not a kid kinda person either.
For some reason my mother believed I needed work expirience, and although we had plenty of money to share I was forced to babysit the brats next door everytime their parents went to a premire or something along those lines.
I opend the door to Madeline. A four year old with a toothy grin. She had glasses the size of coke bottles and tiny slits for eyes. She looked up and me and smiled her devilish grin.
I knelt down, "Hey Madeline!"
She frowned once I opend my mouth, she wasnt my biggest fan. She stepped to the side exposing a little blonde boy.
"who's your friend?" I asked knowing fully well that he was her 4 year old boyfriend... the other neighbor kid.
"Jeremy" she hissed... "Call 'em Jem! He cant say his name.." Madeline said walking in.
"I gots no two front teef!" Jeremy smiled as I closed the door.
"Um ok... well luckily the stuff I have planed dont involve ennounciation." I laughed, herding them to the living room
"Kwistin" Madeline asked looking up
"Yeah?"
"Whats this?" she grabbed a color shiny paper with big letters on it from the ground and shoved it into my face.
I guess she was attracted to shiny things too eh?
"A flyer" I pushed her hand out of my face as I plopped myself on the couch
"Really? And you're going to.. C-C-Camp Wock?" She asked
I shrugged
Suddently she turned pale and stiff.
Jeremy noticed aswell and sat up, "Maddy?" he asked with a lisp.
I tightend up, "Madeline you ok?"
She opend her mouth and dropped the paper, "If you go..." she stopped herself and started a whole new sentence... screaming, "I CANNOT BEWEEVE YOU ARE GONNA MEET THE JONAS BROTHERS!"

I laughed, "I said I was going to camp. Not a rock concert. Its called Camp Rock beca-"
she shook her head and grabbed the paper, shoving it in my face once more, "You get lessons FROM the Jonas brothers. I can read!"

Chapter Two: Cru Ella De Vil

"But mother please!" I begged jumping out the car and up the driveway to meet my mom, "Do you know how big this is for me?"
My mother stopped and spun around, swinging the ring of keys around her fore finger... I could already tell she wasn't in the best of moods. "You simpley are not talented enough for such a camp."
"Um thanks I guess..." I took it as a back handed compliment, although I knew there really was no compliment attatched in her comment
"Child..." she started, "Do you HAVE enough money to pay for it?"
I shook my head, I spend every dime I get the moment I get it. That very question was a waste of her oh so valuable time.
"Well then..." she started turning back to the door, "I guess no camp for you... get a job."

I ran ahead of her and leaned against the wooded doorframe. I placed my palms against the stucco.
I was a shielding the door from her.
"What now? I've told you time and time again... dropping you off at school... picking you up. You cannot go!" she took a step forward as if to scare me off, but I knew she'd never touch me in her Gucci boots.
My face was straight, I did not intend to budge or flinch over a simple bluff... "Mom, I need this... I dont care how I just NEED to go."
She rolled her eyes and shifted her weight to one hip, "Since when do you want to go so bad?"
I bit my lip and loosend my grip on the door frame, "Well... Mady read the flyer... and the Jonas Brothers are teachi-"
"Enough." she put her hand in my face
"Wh-what? I didnt get to finish..."
"I know... but if you REALLY want this, you're going to have to get a job."

I rolled my eyes. As if she hadn't said this enough. "Mom I know... um there's a job opening at Fred Seagul..?"
She shook her head, "No you imbisul! I mean at a much less... fabulous place?"
"Dairy Queen?"
"Child, have those schools taught you nothing? I mean work with muddy grimey children who sleep in cootie infested cots."

The thought of that very enviorment displeased me.
"Sounds appatizing mother, but a place like that doesnt sound like it pays well."
"Child you are too blonde sometimes" she scoffed, "I'll call this Camp Rock of yours... what do you want to be? A conselor?"

My jaw dropped.
Of all the things my Cru Ella De Vil mother could do, she chose to be nice and get me a job in the camp? You MUST be kidding me.

[Jennys POV]

"Vero! You're not doing it right! The 'G' isnt that hard!" I sighed and demonstrated where to place ones fingers on a guitar
"My fingers dont streatch that far!" Veronica moaned as she continued to attept the chord.
"Do ya wanna be good for..." I paused, "Them?"
"JB? Psha! I mean there are only... 3 girls working here. One for each of us and uh... a guitar is the way to a diabetic rockstars heart." she swooned, and looked at the side of the room as if looking at heaven.

I snapped my fingers, "Yo! Vero, hate to break this fairy tale of yours but, we're gonna have some competition."
She looked up, "Say what?"
I fidgetted and looked at her, "New girl... just called in an hour ago. Starts when JB comes."

My mother shut her phone, it cracking the brief moment of silence between us after she said farewell to the reciever.
My was staring at the corner of the doorway, with a smile painted on her face. Did she have something to be proud of?
Her eyes slowly wandered back to me. "Child," she started while adjusting her posture and switching hips to rest on, "School is almost over correct?"
I nodded slowly. Not sure yet whether what just happend was real, or just a simple figment of my imagination brought down from my subconcious to haunt me, because ofcourse... to basically LIVE with JB for months at a time was my deepest desire at the moment.
"Good! Now, since you have what... not even a week left of school I expect your bags packed by tonight. Get extra... everything. Camp is disgusting." she scoffed.

I poked at the concrete with the point of my shoe, nervous still.
"Wait... so I'm really going?!"
She rolled her eyes and nodded.
I bit my lip and squeaked, "Oh my gosh mom! I love you!" I took a step forward with my arms extended to give her a hug but her own skinny hands grabbed mine. Holding me away from her.

"Stay away from my shirt darling... it wrinkles... stick to air kisses." she pulled my arms to my side and walked around me as she dug in her purse for her keys.
How could someone be so nice AND so mean, at the same time?

It suprised me how I got the job so quickly, and over the phone.
Unrealistic, no?
But then again, my mother was arguing and suprisingly... haggling. Which reminds me, she mentioned something about a donation of somesort.

Ashley's POV

I walked out of the boys bathroom, "Ok ok... I KNOW the plumbing aint too hot up in the mountains but please!" I fanned the air away from my nose as I stumbled down the steps of their cabin, "FLUSH the toilet without clogging it please!" I begged to the air. The boys were out hiking, and I was praying that they'd potty out in the forest. Anything would be better for me as long as it wasnt in THAT bathroom.
I shook violently as a cold breeze passed, carrying my stentch with it.
And I hated those boys in the boy scouts. I was glad they'd be replaced by the new campers though.

I walked down the dirt trail to where to girls cabin was, looking for the other two employee's. They were the laziest of the bunch, well not so much lazy, but they did have the job that required little to no effort. Guitar and Piano? C'mon. I have custodial duties...
I must say our supervisor must HATE me.


I swung the oak door open. Jenny and Veronica looked up from their guitars and stared at me for a few silent seconds.
"What reaks?" Jenny asked wrinkling her nose
"Ashley" Vero smiled
I waved my hand about, "Yeah yeah yeah... make fun. I just came to check in what you all were doing. You know. Like the cinderelly that I am."
"Oh yeah" Jenny laughed and rolled her eyes. She patted the stool near her, inviting me to join.

"So?" I asked making myself comfortable, "Whats new in the hood?"
Veronica shrugged, "Our supervisor hates me..."
I rose an eyebrow. How could the supervisor hate her? She got the good job. "Why?"
"She hired a neeeew girl." Veronica enounciated the 'ew' in 'new'
"Is that bad?"
"Depends" Jenny joined in, "I mean the new girl MUST be a fan of JB to want a job so badly they had to pay their way in."
"And..." I motioned with my hands for her to proceed
"That aint good for any of us."
I rolled my eyes, "Wait so why doesnt she just become a camper?"
"They paid less than what the camp was asking for..." Jenny said strumming the strings of her guitar. It laid peacefulling on her knee and echoed in the empty room.

"Oh I see.." I nodded
"And she poses a threat to..." she pointed at herself, "Veronicka"

Allisons POV

I looked up at my dad, owner of the camp.
And I was supervisor.
We had just gotten off the phone with some cheap-o who decided to pay US for a job, instead of paying for camp.
But then again, it was a few grand less.
But whatever...
I had already informed Jenny to go and tell the other workers so they'd be well aware of our new camp counselor.


I leaned back in my chair and set my feet on the keyboard.
"Ally?" I looked up and saw my dad.
"Yeah?" I pulled my hands back behind my blonde hair and closed my eyes
"Time for work!"

'No. No no!" I stuttered, "Th-that can't be..." I reached into my back pocket and pulled out a stained peice of paper.
This was the camp schedule.
I opend it and scimmed it, "Dad." I looked up, "You must be mistaken. I mean JB is coming in tomorrow..."
This was good news, I mean I wasn't even looking good yet.

"Who is this JB?" My father asked shoving his glasses back to the bridge of his nose
"Father, lets not change the subject... I mean the schedule nevvvvver lies" I sung playfully. PLacing my feet back on the desk.

He payed no attention to me. He grabbed the phone and dialed a number and mumbled something about a job... early.
Oh, the new girl. He must have called her, then he mentioned JB again.

I swirled the chair around and looked at my dad.
"Daddikins, you're making the new girl come in for work early for a band that hasnt come yet?"
"Allison, I wonder about you sometimes..." he rolled his eyes and returned to filing.
What was he talking about?

I rolled my eyes back at him. Ofcourse he didnt notice. He was busy being delusional...
I closed my eyes... dreaming ofcourse about tomorrow. The day I'd get to meet the Jo-.

The door creaked open.
And once again my leasure time was over.
I sighed and sat up, "Yo."

Three boys walked in with shades, and a bulky guy following.
I rose an eyebrow.


then it hit me.

Ashleys POV

We heard a sharp, ear piercing shriek from the office cabin.
Automatically the three of us jumped up.

I looked at Jenny and Vero who seemed more excited than worried.
"D-did you hear what I heard?"
"You mean the supervisor screaming 'its the jonas brothers?!' then yeah I heard that too." Vero laughed as she motioned for the door.

Jenny looked at me "Should we go?"
"Should that even be a question?" I led the way to door...
"brace yourself girls. We're gonna meet our future husbands!"

Kristins POV

There was a mountain in the middle of room, it being made of clothes, stood in the mouth of my luggage.
I was packing early, but I could not forget anything.
I hummed as I threw everything from my dresser over my shoulder.

"Hun?" my mother appeared from the hallway
I stopped throwing and looked her direction. She seemed annoyed. She had a phone at her shoulder and she had one hand on her hip.
"Yes mother?"
"What would you say about leaving... tonight?"
"To where? Disney land again? Im getting to old for that plac-"
"No you bafoon, to that camp of yours! Your boss needs you ASAP."

"why? psh.. running out of people to clean the boys bathroom?"
"Yes" she said coldly, "and those boys you love are coming."

Kristins POV

I was in an odd state of confustion. And shock for that matter.

There was something fishy about this... this.. week!

Since when has my mother been the least bit respectful to me, or the lest bit generous.
The answer? Never.

You see my whole life, although growing up in fortune I had no attention from my parents. My father basically lived in his office and my mother spent her time and money on Nanny's when we lived on the upper east side of New York City. And when we moved into LA for my father production company he slowly dissapeared and the need for a nanny vanished as I grew. My mother, feeling the need to spend some money, turned her attention to malls and outlets.

And I stayed in my room. Once in a while shopping, once in a while playing with my mass amount of pets, and once in a while attempting to do my studies.
But all in all what I did the most was I flipped through the pages of a teen bopper magazine, reminscing about my lack of a child up.
And thats when my Jonas obsession blossomed.

I pulled my shins to my chest and leaned back against the passenger seat of the car. I was wearing a Miley Cyrus inspired get up. Shorts with knee high socks. The works.

I could feel my mother eying my attire. I knew she wasn't a fan. She was more-sophisticated and believed Miley had no taste.

"Mom? Why'd you agree to thi-" I started, but was quickly cut off by her turning her head in the oppostite direction and reaching for the stereo system and turing the opera up.

Ok? Thanks for that mother.
This made me more intrested in her intentions, but because she had no intention of talking to me I leaned my head against the window of the car. Watching as the factories of LA glowed and blew their puffs of smoke into the grey skies.
they started to dissapear with the blurr of cars as we made our way to the camp site. Located in San Diego, California.

Palimar mountain.

Ashley's POV

"Hey Im Kevin"
"Joe."
"Hey guys I'm Nick."

We heard them from a distance, but their angelic voices seemed to echo around the Kid Nation esque camp area.
I put my finger to my lips and made a SHHHHH! noise.

Immediantly Veronica and Jenny haulted.
"WHAT?" Vero mouthed as she impatiently crossed her arms and tapped her foot
"Yeah Cinderelly. Whats teh hold up."

I straightend my spine and looked at her, "We have to act casual"
"Casual?" Jenny asked
I nodded. "Stumble upon them. We don't wanna seem like stalkers."
Vero snorted, "But that's just exactly what we ARE."

"Well..." I rolled my eyes, but looked up at the sudden sound of gravel crunching.

Allison stepped out from the corner of a cabin. Following her, my 3 husbands. Ok not really but a girl can dream right?

"And I'll take you to the other employee's" Allison sighed blushing, "Once again I apologize for any ear drum damage. I couldn't help but scream..." she caught my gaze, "Oh. looks like the employees found us."

She had a mix of dissapointment and grateful expression on her face.

I pulled my shoulders back and smiled, "Eh-eh heyyyyyy." I held a thumbs up and stared at JB. In my peripheral vision though I could see Jenny and Vero werent doing too well.

"Ohhhhh myyyyy JONAS!" Vero squeaked taking a few steps back
"I KNOW!" Jenny did the same, "'member us?"

Joe and Kevin shook their heads, but Nick managed to smirk and nod a bit.

Kristin's POV

"Here we are Krist." My mother parked the car and unlocked the doors.
"Ugh! My ears popped." I rubbed my ears. The altitude was getting to me. The ride was much to fast. My mother was burning rubber up here.

"Bags?" she asked.
"Oh yeah where are they!"
She looked at the back seat, "here they are"
She leaned back and pulled two bags to where I was, followed by a little grunt.
"Out cha go" she fanned my away.

"Um ok. Love ya mom." I sighed pulling myself out of the car.

Once on two feet and took several steps away from the car and looked around at the tree's/
I pulled my bag over my shoulder and the other was near the ground in my other hand.

"Mother isn't this beauti-" I turned around and shouted in excitement. But my words faded as my mother back away from the parkinglot. Faster than when we had got here, she pressed on the gas and vanished in the shrubbery.

I shiver went through my body.
And suddently it hit me. Why had she gotton me this dream expirience.
I was nothing but a parasite in her eyes. A burden. And with me gone for that whole summer she could do whatever the hell she pleased. Spa, shopping, and another affair.

My forehead wrinkled and my bags dropped to the ground one by one.
Almost immediantly after my discovery tears streamed down my cheeks.

"How could you!" I screamed at the air... hoping she'd hear it.

This wasn't just for me. This was for her... this...

I looked at the sky, and then at the ground. Confused once more... my breathing was unsteady as I gazed around the camp site.

My mind seemed to be doing too many things at one time, so I found the nearest place to sit down. The hood of a black truck. Random... yeah but it was the only thing that would get me off my feet.

It had been about 5 minutes and my tears stopped. My knee's were once again pulled tightly to my chest.

I had no intention of seeing the Jonas brothers anytime soon. Not when I was a mess like this.

A neglected child is possibley the only thing a Jonas can't cure.
