Help With Gimp Please!!!

Ok so im just learning how to make siggy's on GIMP so I have a question,

When I put the text on my blend or picture or whatever it's called it leaves a box around my wording and I can't get it off!

Can anyone help me??

don't worry about the line, it's just an indication on where the text is, it's not gonna be like that if you save it

or merge the layers(go to layers>merge layers)
it goes away becuase it shows its 2 layers and you only nees one
