Rainbow•Background•Tutorial
Comes•With•Coloring
Heyhey everyone! Its Kacey! (:
So here's the SIXTH tut in like these few weeks.
I officially have a making-tut-obsession.
But I hope you guys enjoy the tut.
We will be learning how to make a Rainbow Background Blend.
Pics with WHITE BACKGROUNDS work best.
It saves the hard work for lazy people like me!
If not, erase out the background of your pic and blend them.
My base is this:

We're gonna start with the coloring then proceed to the rainbow stuff. You can just skip to step 7 if you don't want to do the coloring.
1. We are gonna add 3 Solid Color Layers:
a) D38D8D;Softlight;100%
b) 7CCBEC;ColorBurn;100%
c) DEDEDE;Softlight;53%
http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m156/lin_siyue/tut6-2.png
2. Duplicate your base and drag it to the top. Desaturate is and set at Softlight 100%.
http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m156/lin_siyue/tut6-3.png
3. Add a Brightness/Contrast layer.
Brightness; -18
Contrastl; +62

4. Add a Hue/Saturation layer.
Master; 0 +30 +10
Reds; 0 +24 -9
Yellows; 0 -4 0
http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m156/lin_siyue/tut6-5.png
5. Add a Color Balance layer.
Midtones; -38 -28 -5
http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m156/lin_siyue/tut6-6.png
6. Add a Selective Color layer.
Reds; -100 -35 -32 -15
Yellow; 0 +26 +64 +25
Neutrals; +11 +10 +10 -3
***If you don't use Photoshop, duplicate the base, drag it to the top and set at Softlight layer, set at 100%. Then go Adjust the brightness/contrast (for that layer ONLY) and type in -44 for brightness and -20 for contrast.***
Selective Color:

Edited Softlight layer:

7. Coloring's done! So now create a new layer and go crazy with your brushes in BLACK. When you are satisfied with your 'brushified' layer, set the opacity from 27% - 47%. i had 2 layers of brushes so i set the first to 27% and the second to 47%. it depends which brush layer you want to stand out and which you don't. Finally, using a soft brush, erase the parts covering your main picture.

8. Lastly, take this gradient:

Free Transform it to fit your blend, gradients don't distort when stretched so its okay. Set it at Overlay 100%. Using your soft brush again, erase the parts covering your picture OR you can use your lasso tool, draw around your picture, right click and give it a 5 pixel FEATHER and press delete. then duplicate the rainbow layer.
9. Add your text and other stuff and you have a rainbow background blend!
