Chapter 1: Little Taste of the Hard Knock Life, Nick.

Joes POV
Danget. Did these people know what a window-washer is? Kleenex? I think not. I put my hand on the window, cleaning it. Nasty. I cleaned my hand on my shirt. I peeked in through the little clean spot I had made. I saw Nick, and I saw Kris…and Maria. Now I know why Nick was so nervous this morning. He was going to go see Maria., with Kristin. Here, Let Me Explain. Kristin has always loved Nick, and Nick had always had a small, very small, crush on her. Maria seemed a bit jealous when they both found out the liked each other. Maria was really mad, when she found out they were dating. I mean, it’s kindof weird. We’ve known Maria since we were four, and liking Nick is a bit awkward. That’s what I think. That she likes Nick. I mean..she must. Who would get so mad over such a small thing? Hanna had been talking to her, and she told me that she did like him. See? Joe Jonas is always right. I peeked through the hole again. Hmmph…No sign of a possible fight. I smiled, until I heard someone behind me, and hit my head. I turned around, rubbing my head. I noticed it was Lex, Maria’s friend…..but also Kristin’s. She crossed her arm, raising an eyebrow. “What are you doing?” She asked camly. I studdered out the answer. “Um-I-Uh….Wanted to have a smoothie.” She squinted her eyes. “Then why aren’t you inside?” Crap. She found out I was lieing. “Um…Cause its cold inside.” She giggled. “Joe. It’s 85 degrees inside.” There goes another lie. I began to walk away. “Well Nice Talking to you, Lex.” I began to speed up, but she grabbed my shoulder. I turned around, a bit scared. “I know what your doing, Joe.” I looked at her, her smiling. Wait-Her smiling? Why was she smiling??

Marias POV
I twirled my hair, not looking at anyone. Seriously. The tension was building up even more. You could cut it with a knife. I heard glamorous by ‘Fergie’ come on. I looked for the source of the noise. I should have known. Kristin’s cellphone. She got up, grabbing it. “Excuse me.” Nick didn’t even say anything. How rude. I think she noticed, cause she stood there looking at him for the longest time, and then she left outside, disappearing. Great. More Tension. Next thing I Knew, Nick was moving seats. And not just any seat. The seat next to mines. Pssha. He was sure getting comfortable. He was looking at me, and as I looked at him, my gaze couldn’t fall off his face. He looked so sad, as if…as if he was longing something. I was not about to fall into his scheme. No matter how much I wanted too. I switched to another seat, looking the other way. He went back to his seat, clearing his throat. “Maria..I’m sorry. I really am, but I don’t like you more than a friend…and I didn’t want to hurt you..” That stung, and stung hard. I looked down at my smoothie. “You should of that before you dated little miss bacxksta-I mean Kristin.” He chuckled but got serious again. I stood up. “What makes you think I like you?” He looked at me, looking…hurt. But why? He didn’t care before. Did he really expect me to be his best friend after he didn’t care about my feelings? No. Plus, he thinks im gonna fall for his trap, cause he expects me to be dumb. Puh-lease. I’ve known him since I was four, and I know how he gets a girl. “Well…don’t you like me?’ I knew the answer, but I had to be strong, “N-No.” He looked at me, in shock, but also in sadness. I looked down. I coulgn’t forgive him for what he did, and just give him a hug. No way. He hurt me, and he hurt me big time.

Kevins POV
Click. Click. Click. Don’t go into the closet, Don’t go into the closet, Don’t go into the closet! Ha! You went into the closet, and got killed. I grabbed some popcorn, handing it to Hanna, We were at her house, watching ‘The Skeleton Key.’ Sheesh. She was SO scared, that she almost called the police, when the girl got murdered. Hanna cuddled closer to me-well, almost on top of me, Like an instinct, I put my arm around her. Wait. Why did I do that?? I tried lifting it off, but I cant. I think she noticed, but she didn’t care. As another scary part came on, she wrapped her arms around me. I acted cool, but I knew that she just did that cause she was scared. As the movie ended, the murderer got murdered, {weird I know,} and she screamed, making all the popcorn fly. We both laughed, getting up, and picking up the popcorn,

Chapter 2: Smoothie-Stealer!

Lex’s POV
Three words. Joe is SO dumb. Okay, four words. He thinks I don’t know what he’s up too. He’s trying to steal a smoothie. Pssha. I’m not going to let him. No way. I smirked. “Joe, I’m not dumb.” Joe’s eyes opened up big, and he seemed scared, “I know, you’re trying to steal a smoothie.’ He turned red, and then burst out laughing. What? Did he think this was a joke, or something? I crossed my arms. “Well…Im not letting you.” Joe continued to laugh his head off. This was not amusing! He began to talk, but in between breaths, cause he couldn’t stop laughing. “You….Thought..I was….stealing? HAHAHAHA!”
Oh my gosh. This guy is so dumb. I so knew what he was up too. Like, la-duh. Im telling Hanna and Katie, that he wanted to steal. See how much they liked him now. “Yes! Cause you were!” Joe stopped laughing, but you know he was trying hard not to. “Lex, are you crazy? I’m not stealing!” I looked at him, observing. He looked like if he was saying the truth. But hey, he could be acting. He IS an actor. I sighed. “Then what were you doing?” He looked down. “Promise you wont tell no one.” I put my hand on my heart. “I swear on my grandpa’s grave.” He nodded. “Okay.” He whispered. “I’m spying on Nick and Maria…and Kristin.” My eyes grew big. “WHAT!? KRISTIN”S HERE???” Everybody turned to us, and noticed Joe was standing next to me. A crowd of people began to run towards us, and he grabbed my hand. We both ran, to the nearest alley. Good thing I didn’t have my heels on, considering I was going to wear them. We both ran, till we lost them. I was breathing hard by then. Joe was sitting down on the floor, also breathing hard. He took out a water bottle, and gave it to me. Aww! He rather have me okay then him. I smiled. “Thanks Joe.” He nodded. “No problem. Im used to it.” I chuckled. “How many girls do you run with to the nearest alley a day?” He laughed. He began to tell me about his fans chasing them. And I decided then and there, that Joe wasn’t lieing about the smoothie.

Kristins POV
I hunged up. My mom was so annoying, and over-protective. I heard my name yelled, but then it never came back. I shrugged, and walked back in pinkberry. I saw Maria wasn’t there anymore, and Nick was looking down. I sat back down, looking at him. He got up, pushed in his chair, and walked out the door. I looked at the guy who came to say if we wanted to pay the bill, and I sighed, grabbing my credit card, and giving it to him. I got up, and left, not noticing I had left my credit card. I walked back home, not bothering to call Nick, cause I knew he wasn’t in a good mood. I left my shoes downstairs, and ran up the stairs, being followed by my two dogs. I threw myself on my bed. What had happened while I was gone? I so wanted to know. I grabbed my phone, and began to dial 1, which was my speed-dial for Maria. Oh wait. She hates me. I quietly hung up. I knew I couldn’t live without talking to Maria. I had to fix this. But how??

Chapter 3: Automatic Enemies.


Joes POV
I told Alexa about my encounters with crazy fans. There was even one with this wild-grandma in New York that was chasing us everywhere. Stalker. So yeah. I looked at my watch. Crap. Four hours have passed by. I hadn’t even noticed. I got up, helping Lex get up. She giggled. “So lets see… Wild grandma, chased by hogs, and almost ran over by a van?” She nodded. “Seems pretty crazy.” I laughed. “Yeah.” We sneaked out of the alley, going into the nearest store, and buying sunglasses and some caps. We walked out again, just…talking. Then Lex looked at me, and started to crack up, laughing so hard. I looked around. “W-What?? Whats wrong?” She grabbed my cap, showing it to me. Oh great. I had wasted fifteen dollars on a cap that says ‘Worlds Greatest Grandma.’ I chuckled. Lex keep on laughing. Okay. It wasn’t that funny any more. “Haha. Very funny. Look at me. Im the World’s greatest Grandma.” A girl who was passing by looked at me, and called me a freak. Great. Not only am I a grandma…I’m a freakish grandma. I grabbed her hand, walking faster. We finally got to her house. Of course I knew where it was. It was like, four doors down from me. I stood by her door-step next to her. She was still laughing. I looked at her, and she stopped. But you know she was trying so hard not to. I laughed. “All better.” She smiled. One of her bangs feel out of the pony tail, and I reached out, and put it behind her ear. She looked down, and whispered, ‘Thanks.’ I nodded. I dunno why, but I leaned in, and…well you know what happens next. I kissed her. I kissed Lex. She softly touched my cheek, and then wrapped her arms around my neck. I wrapped my arms around her waist, and kept on kissing her. Oh, boy. Was I in trouble with Hanna…and I also had to deal with Katie.

Marias POV
I got home, already. I was on the computer, on msn, when I got a text on it. From Miss Kris. Oh boy. Here we go.
Me/Kristin
Miss Kris: I’m sowee.
Complicated: Better late then never. But Im not accepting it.

There wasn’t a response for more than seven minutes now. She finally answered.
Miss Kris: MARIA! I like nick, and I have feelings for him, okay? Shessh.
Complicated: Well, you KNOW I have feelings for him. And if that’s how its going to be..then fine.
Miss Kris: No! Don’t get off msn.
Complicated: Or else what?
Miss Kris: Then…I’ll never be your friend again.

I took in a deep breath, answering.
Complicated: I’ll live with that.

I pressed send, and let that message, that little message destroy me and Kristin’s relationship as best friends. We went from best friends to automatic enemies.
