Chapter 1
California Here I Come

As I walked out of the house I turned and looked at it one last time. I was leaving Nevada and moving to California. It was just my mom, my two brothers, and me. My step dad is in Iraq fighting the war. (he's not really but in may of 08 he might be going.) I had a feeling my life in Cali was going to be interesting. I got into the passenger side of the car, my mom in the drivers seat, and my two brothers in the back seat. The moment the door to the car closed, the fighting began. My brothers would break into hissy fits every now and then, making me very annoyed, my mother just kept quacking at birds in the road, making us all laugh, and time seemed to pass by pretty fast, maybe because I took many naps. We arrived in Cali about 4ish so we swung by McDonald's and got a quick bite to eat and set off to find out house. "Mom, when are we gonna get to the new house?" My brother Austin whined from the backseat. "Soon." My mom replied. It took about 15 minuets to get to the new house. Once we arrived at the house I was stunned at how nice it was, all the houses around us were like that too, it was like moving into a neighborhood where a bunch of Celeb's would live. My mom parked in the drive way and well we got out of the car of course. My mom went and talked to the movers and what not, my brothers ran inside the house, Me, I asked my mommy if i could walk around while she helped the movers do mover stuff, she said yes so I started making my way down the street. I saw two girls that looked close to my age, maybe a little older. They we're chatting it up and laughing, the one with the shoulder length hair looked over at me, then said something to her friend. They started heading toward me, at this point I didn't know what was going on, if they we're going to ask if i was new to the neighborhood or yell at me for eyeballing them. "Hey are you new here?" One girl said once they approached me. "Yeah I just moved here from Nevada. My Names Kayla" "Oh that's cool. So where is your house?"
"Its down the street a little. That way." I pointed behind me. Just then my phone had beeped, I got a text. It was from my mom telling me to come to the house and help unpack. "Well I have to go help unpack. It was nice meeting you. Umm, Sorry I never got your names."
"Oh well I'm Lex and this is Casey."
"Well it was nice meeting you." I said and started to walk away.
"Hey wait!" Lex yelled.
"Yeah?" I turned around.

Chapter 2
Unpacking Fun

“Yeah?” I turned around.
“Do you want some help?” Lex asked.
“No, I couldn't let you do that, I mean I just met you.”
“We totally don't mind.” Casey said.
“Are you sure?” I asked
“Yeah totally.” Lex said
“Okay lets go then.” I turned and started walking to my house, Lex and Casey right behind me. I opened the front door my mom was unpacking the kitchen.
“Hey mom, these are my.....friends, Lex and Casey. They want to help unpack. Is that okay?”
“Yeah, the more people helping the faster will get this done.” My mom said.
“Yeah, alright mom.” I turned and faced Casey and Lex. “Lets start with my room” I headed up the steps Casey and Lex following.
“Alright, I now just need to find my radio and my cd case.” I said looking around my room. “Oh here it is. Do you guys like the Jonas Brothers?” I asked
Lex and Casey exchanged glances. “Do We?” Casey said like it was a dumb question to ask. “Of course!” She shouted.” I chuckled and popped in my Jonas cd, S.O.S started blaring through the radio. Before I knew it we were unpacking, dancing around and singing along.
A few hours later...about 6ish or so.
{Lex's Pov}

It has been a few hours of helping Kayla unpack, and let me tell ya, I was worn out. I took my cell phone out of my pocket and checked the time. I noticed it was about six.
“Sorry Kayla but I got to head home, I'm supposed to be home before dinner” I stated.
“Yeah I got to go too.” Casey said.
“Alright well I catch up with you guy's later then?” Kayla asked.
“Yeah here let me give you my number.” I said and looked around for something to write on. “Do you have a pen or something?” I asked.
“Uh, yeah here.” Kayla pulled a pen out of her purse and handed it to me. I quickly wrote my number on a flap thing on a box.
“Kay there. Call me tomorrow.” I said and started heading down the stairs Casey close behind.”
“Alright Bye.” Kayla shouted down the steps.
{Kayla's POV}
Whew I'm pooped. I thought to myself. I ran down stairs to see my mom's unpacking progress. So far so good. Kitchen was almost unpacked, and in the living room so far we had a bunch of half unpacked boxes and the couches. Oh thank god the couches. I went over laid on the couch, just what I needed.
“So it looks like you've made some friends.” My mom said trying to start a conversation with me.
“Yeah, I guess. I mean I wouldn't really call them my friends since I just met them. More like acquaintances. I guess. I don't know.” I stared at the ceiling.
“Well you guys must have something in common I heard you blasting the Jonas Brothers up there.” My mom said opening a box in the dinning room.
“Well yeah. It's just. I don't know. Where's Trevor and Austin.” I said trying to change the subject.
“I think there outside playing with some kid named Frankie, Frank, or was it Daniel I don't remember.”
Frankie, That was JB's little brothers name. I shook the thought out of my head. There was no way it could be the same kid, and besides my mom wasn't even sure if that was his name.
“Oh, so where are we sleeping?” I asked, I mean at the moment I was tired as heck and just wanted to sleep, and not knowing where I was going to sleep bothered me.
“On air mattress until we can get the bed's set up.”
“Oh Mkay.” I rolled over and laid on my side, I threw my tiny little fleece blanket over me that was hanging on the back of the couch. I guess my mom put it there. Oh well who cares, and before I knew it I has dosed off.
About 20 minuets later.

I heard a faint whisper but I couldn't make out what it was saying and if the whisper was even directed toward me, so I tried to ignore it but soon it grew louder and I could make out what it was saying.
“Kayla, Kayla sweetie. I ordered pizza, do you want some?” My mom asked.
I was too tired to get up and I wasn't even hungry so I waved my hand in the air signaling my mom that I didn't feel like eating. After that, I quickly fell back asleep.
The next day

I woke up about eight, and that odd considering the time I fell asleep yesterday. I thought I was going to wake up about like five maybe six-ish I don't know. I looked around and I noticed a note hanging off the empty entertainment center. I slid off the couch and grabbed the note off the entertainment center and this is what I read

Doing a little sight seeing, getting used to the new surroundings.
Took the boys with.
No loud parties, No boy's in the house.
Love mom.

I rolled my eye's at the line “No loud parties, No boy's in the house.”
One. I would never do that. Okay maybe, but probably not.
Two. We just moved here I know no one, except Casey and Lex but I just met them yesterday.
Three. Okay there is no three it just sounded good.
I walked over to the kitchen and grabbed a granola bar off out of my purse that was on the counter, then I went and sat back on the couch. Hmm what to do, what to do. I thought to myself. No Internet, No t.v, No....nothing. I sat there and thought for a while, nothing came to me so I decided I should go check my cell for any missed alerts. I had one missed text. It was from my mother, tell me all the stuff she had said on the note just in case I didn't see the note and then started to freak out cause I was all alone and blah blah blah. Hmm still nothing to do. I guess I'll go take a walk. I slipped on a jacket some shoes. Made sure I had my cell blah blah blah, locked the door and went outside.
I walked out into the fresh California air. Looked up at the partly cloudy sky, as soon as I look up. Just my luck, it starts raining. So I run back onto my porch, turned the doorknob, but it wouldn't move. Great I've only been out here for 2.4 seconds and I forgot I locked the door and I have no key. What am I supposed to do now? I thought quickly and ran across the street. I usually don't just go to a random house and do this but I'm cold and wet. I knocked on the door and in a matter of seconds someone opened it.
“Hi, sorry to bother you, but I just moved in and my mom isn't home and I came outside to walk around since I have nothing to do and I loc-. Oh. My. Goodness.”
I had just realized who I was rambling to. I looked up and standing there was the one and only. Joseph Adam Jonas.
