It was a hot august afternoon.
The summer breeze carried the scent of the ocean, and the cherry blossoms sprinkled pale petals on the grass or the cemetery. I knelt near a tombstone, craddling a military helmet... and whispering softly to it. The ceremony had yet to begin... but I was saying goodbye to my former future brother-in-law.
I sighed and set the helmet down, "Im sorry..." I whispered leaning my head against the stone, "I was selfish." I felt my eyes fill with tears as my voice started to crack, "I shouldn't have wanted this to happen... to.. to save a summer fling." I took two uneven breathes as I started to bawl. I grabbed the helmet once more and held it close, "today was supposed to be your wedding... and we're... saying goodbye? Holding on to your past when we should've been celebrating your future? This is all my fault..." I shook my head, "If I didnt wish for this to happen... if I... I just listend to you. You'd be saying your vows..."
I was stopped short from my apology by the sound of the church bells. The bride had arrived...
I sat up, still holding the helmet... I pushed myself so I was on my knee's. Eyeballing the site. Yes, the limo was here... which also meant Jenee was {my sister}. I wiped my tears and dropped the helmet. "Guess I'll see you soon huh?" I stuttered. I fixed my black hat and dusted my dress off and ran to the church doors. Waiting for my sister to get out of the car. It was two weeks after the day she turned 18, all dressed in white. While the rest of us wore our black attire. The door of the limo opend as she walked out holding a box. She was dressed in her wedding gown. I turned away at the sight. I couldn't handle the guilt...
The box contained his letters and in her other hand his Sixpence in a shoe, something barrowed, something blue. She clacked over to where I was.
"You ready?" I asked refusing to look her in the eye
"Uh huh" she stuttered.
I pulled the church doors open and stepped in... leading her. She pulled her vail down to hide her tears as she walked slowly down the walkway. "Kristin?" she whispered
"Y-yeah?" I answered nervously
She took a breath... "T..." she stopped and whimpered and continued, "Please t-tell me this is j-just a dream"
I started to cry more, "I wish I could but..." someone grabbed my hand. I was yanked back. Luckily missing my sister and pulled into a pew.
"When are you gonna start talking to me again?" a boy asked
"Nick, this is not the time..."

I pulled my arm away, "Now really isnt the time Nick... we're at a FUNERAL!" I hissed and got up dusting my black dress off and following my sister to the front of the church...

It was a couple hours later... we all gathered around the tomb stone, saying our goodbyes and such. I took a deep breath, and looked at Nick who hung his head and was staring at the dirt.
Maybe after everyone said their goodbyes we could talk, frankly I didnt know... it'd be too weird. But if we needed the peace between us we NEEDED to put this all behind us. No matter how much I didnt want to talk to him.
I looked at my sister, "Im sorry" I whispered
"This can't be happening to me" she said bluntly and leaned down near the stone, "Why'd you leave me... why'd you have to go? I was counting on forever... now... now I'll never know" she looked up at me, "Everybody is saying he's not coming home now... you'd think I realized that?" she whispered
I nodded and knealed down too, "I know you do. Give it some time and..."
"Kristin, I just lost the love of my-"
I sighed, "You're 18. You'll realize this was meant to be and move on with your life. I mean you can't say you were inlove you're still a teen"
"Are you heartless?" she asked
I shook my head. "No. I've just learned through this whole expirience that you don't really know what love is until your A LOT older Jenee..."
She shrugged, "Don't talk to me"
I took a step a step back... "fine"
Why was she mad at me? Ok so I know that wasn't the most comforting thing to say but all in all it would help in the healing process.
This twisted world we call home is really messed up. I may never understand it but these things happen to the best of people. Is that how its supposed to be? I knew I couldn't take back anything... I couldnt wish for him to come back to life. Jenee's fianc'e was gone. And I couln't help but blame myself.

I looked at Nick again, peering from my swooping hat. He too was looking at me. I sighed and looked at Casey, "I'll be back"
"Wh-why? You're gonna talk to him?" she asked me
"I need to find some closure. This whole thing is just haunting"
She nodded and nudged Jenny, "Keep a look out on them. If Kristin sends us a sign we're coming over ok?"
Jenny shook her head agreeingly
and with that I left.

I turned around squeezing through the people and walking far, without even mentioning my plan Nick followed. We were about 30 feet from the crowd when I stopped. I leaned against a tree and looked at him. Gosh! Why were Jonas' so cute?

"Kristin this isnt your fault" he said walking toward me
I couldn't understand why he liked me. I definately was no Miley Cyrus. Not even close... "I know" I said
"Then why do you keep blaming yourself? He died in war"
I looked up at him my eyes starting to water, "Because... he didnt like us. Us together... and whenever he'd come he'd try and tear us apart Nick!" I cried, "At the time I couldn't handle it. I was in major fan mode. And I wished that he'd just go away..."
"And thats your fault? Kristin wishes dont come true"
I looked up at him, "I wished I could have a chance with you Nick. That happend. And now... now this? Im really getting the feeling the universe is either out to get me or it likes me a whole lot."

"A wish doesnt change anything... you didnt do that and we met from HIM. The universe had nothing to do with it."
"Either way Nick... I didnt want him around at the time because he was your cousin. I mean if he married my sister we'd be related... thats just... weird!"

He rolled his eyes, he didnt understand.

"Nick! WHAT IF?! What if this happend because of me?" I said. Tears running down my cheek
"But it didnt... so can we just go back to normal?"
"Nick... you're cousin is having his own funeral. MY sisters fiance is having his funeral. Someway some how we're related. I can't go back to normal this quick."
He sighed and put his arm against a different tree, "I know. But can we atleast talk?"
I shook my head. No. It was just too weird for me. And too soon. We dated while his cousin and my sister dated. We both dreaded the wedding day. And I was immature, I just wished he would go away. Not THIS. I didnt want him to die.

"You know Nick. Before I met you.... my problems were a heck of a lot smaller than they are now" I looked at the sky, right now I was wishing He'd just leave me a lone. Move on...

Although knowing we were living in the wheel of the world. I knew that love would come back knocking at my door. Even though this flame between Nick and I had died a while ago... I had a feeling it'd reignite.

"Is this my fault now?" Nick asked solemly
I couldnt look at him, he was too... I don't know. But if I looked at him I'd feel happy. And a funeral is no place to be happy. I turned to the people. Joe was whispering to one of my friends ----y.
I titled my head, "I want to start everything over... be like... them. You know?" I nodded toward the two. "Be like them. Getting aqainted with everyone. And not really knowing who just died."
"I know... me too"

Kristins POV

I was sick. Sick of this whole mess I was currently living in. This mess. This... chaos for the lack of a better word.
"We're leaving Viginia and going to California tomorrow" I said suddently after a moment of silence between the two of us. I drew circles in the sand with my foot while I stared into space. There was a weird peace about that moment, maybe I could leave all my troubles in this state and start over back in California... as much as i'd like to I couldn't. It was a good plan, until I thought about the fact I had lived in California for quite sometime now. My other problems were waiting for me back there. 'Til then... I'd leave my sister and HER troubles here. Where she had planned to grow old with her decorated war hero.
And although that plan of hers is currently a no-go she still wanted to stay for a while 'get her life back on track'.

"Yeah we're coming back to LA after we visit home" Nick said solemly, home being NJ ofcourse.
I nodded still looking at the ground, "So we're all leaving tomorrow?"
"Yup."
"Oh..."
"Whats wrong?"
"Nothin'" I looked up. I needed a change of subject, "Ahem. Um, shall we go back to everyone?"
"Well I was about to but-"
"GREAT!" I unterupted him. Nick and had this record of talking about nothing in so many words. Each conversation was unstatisfying and unenteraining and unimportant. Which I took as a sure sign we were not meant to be.
"Wait?!" He called after me
"What Nick?" I hissed slowly turning around
"Are we on good terms?"
"If we don't speak." I started to smile
"What? We're on good terms if we don't speak?" He asked
I laughed, "Ok so you agree cool" and with that last confusing statement I walked away.
I closed my eyes as I walked away. I was in this... confusing mess. I wanted to turn around and hug him, while the other half of me just wanted to keep walking away. Grr, Jonas boys.

The crunch of the leaves below me was loud, loud enough to turn heads at the ceremony and face me. "Sowwy" I mouthed as I walked briskly to Casey and Jenny. One of which was with Joe a couple minutes prior to my arrival. "What'd I miss?" I asked finally coming to a hault.
Jenny shrugged, "Not much... the Jonas' close friends just arrived" she nodded toward six girls, "Their 'friends' psh... I highly doubt..."
"JUST friends" Casey laughed, "And you didn't miss much"
"Oh I'm sure I did" I laughed, "Looks like you and joe were getting to know eachother"
"Hmm me?" Asked casey
I nodded, "Keep in mind this is a funeral. Not happy hour"
"In all seriousness I didnt mean to..."
"Sh!" I whispered and poked Casey and motioned for her to look at Jenny.

Jenny had exited the conversation and was now centering her attention on a certain fro bro.
"I thought she liked Joe..."I whispered
"So did I..." I whispered
Casey tilted her head unsure of this situation, "I dunno... this is kinda weird. Do you like Nick?"
I shook my head
"So he's fair game for Jenny?"
I shrugged... too confused to talk
"Well, since he's not with you anymore... I guess he's fair game for their Nicks 'friends' too."
I cleared my throat, "But you said that they were just friends"
"With Joe I meant... but Nick may be on the rebound. Like you..."
"I am SO NOT in the re-..." ok in desperate need of a change of subject, "I mean... when will we meet these 'friends' ?" I said making air quotes
"Um soon?"
"How soon"
"As in after the ceremony...?"
Casey nodded,."Yup. One wanted to know if you were ok with her dating Ni-"
I waved my hand in my face. I didnt need the completion of that sentance.
Here comes the universe again... I wished Nick would move on and he will... before me. What a slap in the face. I mean, yeah I want him to move on... sorta... but I dunno.
"Which one-"
"Sh-h!"
I turned to my sister but was hushed before I opend my mouth to speak again.

Jennys POV

I woke up prostrate on a pile of linen. Curtains and pillows surrounded me, all in bright colors. I blinked a couple times struggling to stay awake. I took a deep breath, relaxing and melting in the comfortable bed.
The hotel Kristin's parents had picked out was a dream.
I sat up and streatched. The sound of birds was the only sound in the morning, and the sun shined through the beach house esque windows.
I turned to put my feet onto the floor when I heard a scream.
Following that was...

"postponed?!?"
A voice hollered from down the hall.

I sat up, "What the?"

As fast as I could I ran down the hall, "Whats going on?" I asked.

Kristin was in the living room unpacking her luggages, mumbling under her breath. I looked at her mother, "Hmm?" I asked again.

Renee, Kristins mom, answered. "Flights to California are postponed... we're here for a while longer."
"Is that... bad?"
Renee thought for second. She raised her finger and opend her mouth but stopped herself to think a little bit longer, "I..." she started, "I think its because of the whole funeral deal... Kristin is still eh... blaming herself I guess."
"Oh"
Renee nodded, "Mhmm, but hey. First time I don't have a meeting to go to."

Kristin looked up, "Renee" she started. Ever since I can remember she had caled her parents by their first names, "You have had meetings off, and instead of chillin' out you uh-you stay home and work."

Renee shrugged, "Well its different now..." she noticed Kristin unpacking, "What are you doing Tin?"
"Unpacking... duh?" she laughed
"I didn't say we weren't leaving. They've booked the room already... we're leaving Virginia..."
"Sweet!" I smiled
"Really? But I thought we couldn't go back home" Kristin asked
"Don't you listen? I didn't say we were going home. Your friends have invited you to stay at their house with their friends..."

Kristin made her confused face. Which was probably the most hilarious thing I had seen. She wrinkled her nose and titled her head looking at the corner of room. "Le huh?" she asked, "Are you talking about Casey? Cause she lives in Cali too."
"Um... Joseph! He invited us to stay with him..." Her mother said
Kristins eyes widend, "Eh wh-what? I have to see Nick again? After that 'Hi I'm Alexa but you can call me Lex' girl asked if she could date him? Mom... this is a complete NIGHTMARE!"

Casey walked out sleepy eyed, "Speaking of nightmares I had this one last night-" she started walking into the livingroom
"Hey Case!" I waved
"Casey! We're all gonna DIE!" Kristin sighed
"WHAT?! WHY?" she stopped, "This is JUST like the dream"
"We're gonna live with the JONAS Brothers!" Kristin sighed burrying her head in her pillow

Caesy and I looked at eachother raising an eyebrow and smiling. I couldn't help but think that this would be fun. For Casey and I atleast...

"You're so overdramtic Kristin! Hurry up! The boys are waiting with us at the airport!" Renee rolled her eyes.

Kristins POV

I can almost garuntee I know what you're thinking... how can Nick be stuck on some spoiled brat, right? Well that my friend is the exact question I am being haunted with. I am no gorgeous modely type and I definately am not perfect. I have a teeny attitude problem that tends to drop in sometimes... temper tantrums? Sure we'll call 'em that. I had a long list of bad habbits that no normal person could handle, I didn't eat everyday American food. Mashed potatoes = gross. Hamburgers? Never tried one. Chickentarian? YUP!
The normal food Nick loved, I loathed.
The food I loved, he wouldn't touch. I was oriental... ofcourse I was going to eat oriental food.

And yet, with this long annoying list of well... annoyance, I was suprised to see that the one guy I thought would hate me for these imperfections... seemed to love them. This ofcourse made me HATE him more. I couldn't help but fall for him one more time. Ofcourse this was on purpose.
Grah... boys.

I mumbled some foul words under my breath as I stuffed my luggage into the ceiling thing. "What the heck is this?" I asked myself, feeling the need to do a total kung fo kick and shove that stupid bag INTO the space. It hung halfway in... halfway out. Delightful.
"Need help?" A voice asked from the narrow walk way.
"Oh uh huh yeah" I turned around to greet my hero... and or night in shining armor. But what a suprise. I was pressed between the chair and Nicholas Jerry Jonas.
"Oh, its... you." I sighed
He rose an eyebrow, "Is that a problem?"
Hmmm... Uh yeah. "No... no... whatever helps me get the bag in right?"
He nodded. And with a basic flick of the wrist he pushed the stupid bag in.
"Thanks, I need that to be done before I..."
"Lost your temper? Yeah I thought that would happen so I decided to help... ATC has enough problems on their hands now-a-days" He chuckled
I made my sad attemped to raise an eyebrow, "Pardon?"
"Nothing..." he laughed and slipped into the center seats. He was seated in one of the five of those center ones.
He was the furthest away from me. YES!

I read my ticket. "Yup, ok in the right isle. Now um who am I sitting next to?"
"Moi ofcourse" another voice called from the isle. It was a girl. Tall one for that matter... wearing a hoodie and sporting earphones over the hood.
"Sup?" she said pulling a small bag behind her
"Umm not much. Which seat do you wa-"
"I call window seat!" She said racing forward
I shrugged, "Fine by me... I can't handle the view..."

Ashley's POV

She had this accent. This perky Californian accent.
If she came up to you one day to ask for a cup of sugar, I garuntee you could tell she was from So Cal. She had the slight Valley Girl dialect.
She was short, and scronny. Decked out in name brands... a walking billboard.
But, I still standby the saying 'you cant judge a book by its cover'.
I started to walk closer to where I could see her face, "Hey-"
"Speak of the devil" she said softly
"Excuse me?!" I shifted my weight to one hip
"Oh no no no no no no! not you hun... um someone else" she peeked over my shoulder. I turned around... it was Lex and Maria, "You know em?" I asked
She shrugged, "Not well. But eh um yeah..."
"Shnazzy" I said sliding into the seat. I was glad she wasn't mad at me atleast she was not mad at me.

Kristins POV

Ok cool, new girl is awesome. But my problem now revolved around the fact that Lex, the girl that LIKES Nick, would be sitting....
I eyeballed her, waiting to find where she'd sit... oh no.
She didn't notice me, but she made her home in the seat behind me.
Was this WHOLE seating chart planned or something?
Probably not, Im just cursed.
I sat up to see who was sitting near Nick.

It was:
Adrianne (met her at the funeral)> Kevin> Aisle> Nick > Jenny> Joe> Casey> and some tall skinny girl.
I peeked at the skinny girls luggage 'Allison'
Oh how nice, another one of the Jonas' friends.

And now I was starting to get the feeling these seats were planned. Every Jonas friend was here except one. Casey had told me about her... Katie.
Where could that one be?

Kristins POV

I was emergering from a dream.
Awakening from the peace and entering the hussle and bussle of traffic inside the planes, I was hesitant to open my eyes.
I had this haunting dream, but because I was breaking the cobwebs from my subconsious to reality I was slowly forgetting each scene from my dreams as I stepped closer into the world of... the awake.

I blinked my eyes, hmmm not too late. The flight attendants were going down the aisles in there big bulky carts... this meant. Dinner... or lunch... or breakfast. Or whatever meal came around whatever time it was.

The attendant pushed the breaks on the cart and stopped at my side, facing me.
"Now what would cha like hun?" she said in a boston accent.
"Anything vegetarian friendly?" I asked
She cocked her head. Was it so unusual to have a vegetarian on a flight?
Oh no vegetarian call the butcher police, this child is deprived... blah blahs blah!
"You know... no meat?" I suggested
She laughed, "I know what vegetarian is... I was just shocked there was so much! I mean you're mah third one!"
"Really? Who were the others?"
She pointed to Adri and the seat behind me
I nodded. "cool... but uhh meal time?"
"Oh yeah thats right! Salad?"
I shook my head. Salad tasted like grass... haha I know Im a funny vegetarian
She wrinkled her nose, "I thought you said..."
"Got rice?"
"Oh you're one of the asian folk huh?"
"Islander" I insisted... not Asian. Just brought up by Asian tradition. Psh.

Allisons POV

I picked at my burger, "Is this even edible?"
Joe peeked over from Casey, "I dunno. Im chewing... seems like it is. I jsut can't taste anything."
"Thanks Joe" I said sarcastically laughing along
Casey tilted her head making a face at her chicken burger, "Now why'd they have to run out of Cheese Burgers?"
"Cause you took too long deciding between the chicken burger and cheese burger. And when everyone ordered a cheese burger, the only burger left was the chicken." Joe smiled, proud of his explanation.

He was hilarious.

Casey and I stayed quiet. Trying to fathom what in the world he was trying to say.
"Oooooh!" Casey laughed
"See!" Joe chuckled

Jenny leaned into the conversation, "Yeah Case. I got the chicken burger too... it doesn't look normal."
"Its airplane food" Nick concluded, "What'd you expect?"

Now this conversation was getting incredible. The whole row seemed to Join in.
"Nick, it isn't astronot food..." Kevin rolled his eyes, "It is airplane food... basically the same but..."
"NASTEH!" Joe laughed

"Well" Adri said clearing her throat, "I was smart and got zees" she held up her tofu burger, "It taste like a tofu burger... and it doesnt have a face."

"Yeah well you're food jiggles" Jenny joked.

Kristins POV

Great, I was missing out on a wonderful conversation. Ok not the besssst convo but a convo none the less.
And a funny conversation at that.
I looked at Ashley, "You like the food?"
"Its treating me well" she replied, "You a vegetarian?"
"Not quite. I eat chicken sometimes... just when Renee is around. She doesn't like me just eating fruits."
"Renee?"
"My mum"
"Why don't you call her mom. Its a whoooole lot easier for us normal folk."
I shrugged, "Well because she was never my mom. Although she did give me life and her blood runs through my veins, she didn't like in the house per se. She lived more in the meeting room."
"Oh I see... bussy-ness woman"
I laughed, "Yeah that."
"Well you can talk to the other vegetarians.. like ehhh..." she turned to the seat behind us, "Yo, you a veggie?"

I turned to the seat aswell... "Oh hey Alexa." I forced a smile
"Lex" Maria added
"My bad," I shrugged, "Well anyway I didn't know you were a vegetarian"
She nodded, "Not many people do."
I laughed, "Hah cool!"

Woah was I actually getting a long with the enemy?

Kristins POV
The plane ride was thankfully over.
I leaned against the counter of the sink, brushing a washrag against my cheeks. Soap dripped from its threads and landed in the sink below. The stalls in the airport bathroom slammed shut and flew open with every new person, and in the 15 minutes I've been off the plane the line to the restroom seemed to shrink. 'Til one person was in the stall. Weird right?
I simply turned on my iPod on a high volume to isolate myself from the rest of the bathroom goers. Washing my face, and bringing life back into my skin. Planes are never good for your skin.

The last of the bathroom goers slowly opend the stall door, walking out slowly and made their way toward the sink. They were sluggish. Obviously weary, the flight had taken a lot out of her.
In what seemed like forever she reached the faucette. Gently turning it on and running her hands under the hot water. The steam rised to the air.
She must have felt someone watching her, for she looked straight at me.
"Um hi again?" she said turning her attention back to her hands.

I didn't hear what she said, I pulled my earphones out and looked at her again. Patting my face dry, "Pardon?"
"Nice to see you again." She mumbled
Until know I had yet to see her facial features. I mostly was concentrating on the prostrate way she moved...

Oh my dear god. It was the enemy... or the kinda enemy. Lex.
During the flight we had a short conversation jumping from topic to topic everynow and then while we waited for the plane to land. We'd go from talks of vegginess, to animals, to alpackas, to russian, to austrailians, then to Jonas'. And with that last subject starting up, I shut the conversation off.

But now, I hoped she got the message. No Jonas Talk... AT ALL.
It was enough I would be living with the Jonas brothers, aka my ex and his family. The family that dispised me. The family that did not understand why I refused to eat the food they brought to the table... even though I had told them time and time again "I hate mashed potatoes".
Nicks mother seemed too intrested in Nicks happiness to tell him she didn't approve of me. Instead she smiled and nodded and mumbled under her breath as she turned away from the table. Yes, I'd be living THAT life one more time. But this time around living it 24/7.

"You deep in thought again?" Lex asked, she was drying her hands now.
"Hmmm?" I shook my head, "Oh uh yeah kinda sorta... yeah."
She laughed, "About???"
"Food? Mashed potatoes really..."
"I love mashed potatoes!" She laughed
I shrugged, "I dispise them with every fiber of my being, but I was also thinking of..."
"Jonas?"
Can this girl read minds or something? Or was it THAT obvious?
I opend my mouth to speak but a parade of girls marched into the bathroom.

Just my luck. It was the Jonas brothers pals. Allison, Adri, Maria, and Katie. Trailing them were MY friends Jenny and Casey.

"Whats taking so long?" Maria asked impatiently, "Oh you're talking. Thats why"
"Yeah miss Chitty Chitty Bang bang!" Ashley chimed

"What is that anyway?" I asked before they proceeded with their name calling
"I have no idea" the all said in unicean
Wow... amazing, the're all genius' I tell you. :P

I scanned the crowd, monitoring their every movement. Already I could tell who liked who. Quite easily actually... they were scattered a bit. In tiny clusters. Those who liked Nick were around Maria. (she informed me about her Nick obsession on the plane remember?) While the crowd around Casey... which was Allison and Katie... liked Joe.
They all talked to whom they had the most in common with. That being their favorite Jonas.
Jenny and Adri hung a little out of the main crowds.
Jenny being the confused Jonas' soul she is hovered between both Joe and Nick and Kevins group.
Kevins group was Adri's group... grah... poor Kevin.

"So uhh... Im Kristin" I said waving partially
Ashley waved back, "I know you!"
Jenny and casey laughed a bit
"Um I can see you guys are friends with my friend now huh?"

they all nodded

"Well... how about I join in this... fun... thing." I smiled.
"The names Allison" the tall girl walked through the crowd, "Have me met yet?"
I shook me head,
"Oh well yeah. If you need anyt-"
Someone pushed her back a little, "Ok she'll ramble for a bit" Adri laughed. "Im Adri. Kevin's my boyfriend"
I rose an eyebrow, "Really?"
"Not yet" she sighed, "But, lordie people. Think positively. it WILL happen."
Laughter rose among the crowd while another stranger walked up.
"I'm Katie." a red head smiled, "And uhh I forgot yours... sorry"

"Kristin." I repeated.
Now that the introduction was over I needed to get out of the potty room.
I motioned to the door, "Can we uhh..."
"Yeah!" they laughed as they made their way out.

Lex and I were at the back of the parade of girls. Slowly sqeezing throught he door.

We started to talk again when...

"Hey Lex I've been looking for you everywhere I wanted to ask you somet-woah!" Nick stopped his question as I walked out of the bathroom. Finishing our conversation... but like him stopped my sentence short with a "woah"
