that's offending to me
I mean, I LIVE on the west coast.
and, we work hard to, but the east coast is more experienced b/c it's older than the west coast(as a country) so, be careful what u say, it may effect someone.

i don't know, i mean, this is sort of stereotypical, but i guess it depends which school you go to.
I got to a private school, and the vast majority of graduates go to good colleges. I take all the honors classes i can take, and they're definitely not easy. there are people at my school who refuse to do work or they can't do their work w/out "help" from somebody else, though.
but i don't really know which one is harder or easier. you cant really tell unless you ask somebody who has experienced both.
and about the "check" and "cheque" thing, thats just different culture. its not necessarily laziness.
there are other examples of that, like "color" and "colour."

I live on the west coast too
so? its a fact...
West Coast test and stuff is a lot easier. Thats why there is like 1 ivy league here...
Im not being rude. Simpley stating the truth
I never said we didnt work hard... its just they teach different on that side

i have done schooling in the UK, and I don't know which is harder. I went to a private school, so i dont know what public schooling is like there. Also in the UK you don't get graded on anything. Like you can't get held back. So that makes it easier. But yes Americans arn't dumb they are more lazy, lol.

It all depends on the school you go to here, [England]
and how serious you take learning.
I go to a school that is one of the top 30 in the country, and it is certinatly [sp] not easy
5 people in my class have had to leave because of how hard it is.
I think that both countries are both the same
I mean its all learning right ..?
Don't forget though we start school when we are younger and finish when we are 16, unless you go to sixth form.

I think so because most people (what I've heard) in the british countries can speak many languages.
The west coast learns more (are somewhat ahead) than some parts of the east cost.

yeah, at 5 yrs.
when do u go, unless u count pre-skool, which isn't really school
and, I think that, different countries have different educations.

America isn't dumb[even tho, I said that we are called dumb] we are just LAZY:P

England is probably just as smart as us!

so, who cares? as long as we all go to school, right?

Depends...
I take advanced classes and they're definitely not for dumb people.
But our regular and lab (for really not smart people) classes are reallly really simple and those people who take those classes don't seem very intelligent.

That's just my school though.
And since I dunno what British schooling is like, it's hard to say.
Same here

yeah, its hard to say because most americans havent experienced british schooling, and vice versa!
but (not trying to sound braggy at ALL) my school is on of the top private schools in america, and i'm in all honors-level classes with an average of 3.5 hours of homework per night...so my school DEFINETLY isnt "dumb"

I go to school in the UK and I think that it depends where you live, what school you go to and basically who you are. There are some people who are under loads of pressure to do well, and these people will have harder schooling than others. At secondary school (high school) we have 3 different types basically 1. grammer 2. private and 3. high schools etc. most people go to 3. because you have to have alot of money or a scholariship for private and you need to pass an exam for grammer. At grammer and private schools there is loads of pressure to do well and you are badly punished if you don't try, also (generally) the people who go to those schools will have families that expects them to do well and be acedemic, so they are even harder schooled. This doesnt mean that the people that go to the other schools do not have supportive families, but they're schools have less of an expectation that they will do well and will work them less hard. Some of the other schools will have to spend more money and pay more attention to the kids with special needs, so the kids who do not have special needs might be under less pressure and be wprked harder. I don't know if its like this in the USA, but it is in most areas of the UK. So basically some schools probably work kids harder in the Uk and some USA school work people harder :D

I think it depends on many things. Obviously as the grades go up, it gets harder. But, embarrassingly enough...

"Rarely is the question asked: Do our childrens learn?"

I have lived in many places throughout South America, now living in the U.S, and the school over there was generally harder and more academically demanding than here. As for the U.K, no experience in those waters...

Actually, it probably is.
Not that anyone here is dumb, or anyone's school is dumb, but its harder.
My parents both studied internationally, and they say that the American school system is the easiest.

I think it may all just be personal opinion (sp?)!
I agree with this. My personal opinion is everyone is smart and has potential, but some people are lazy (don't use the potential) like someone said above regardless of what kind of classes they take. I've been in regular, advanced placement (AP), honors, and special ed (I've observed) classes and they're all the same. It's just the teacher's attitude that's different towards you. The teacher expects more of you in an honor class, than a regular class. Back on subject about British schooling, I think it's the same to America's schooling because we have similar, not exact, teaching systems. I've talked to friends about it too and they have similar work and classes. Only difference is they call their grade levels different things, like Primary School, Secondary Schools, etc.
