my school is going downhill fast

I go to a public school, one of the best public schools were I live. I live in a big city, and a fabulous and popular one at that...

The school is new... gorgeous, etc.

But ever since sophmore year at my highschool started the freshman have been out of control!

The school is well known for our high test scores but we're starting to develop a bad rep

Here is what has happend:


A freshman overdosed on an illegal substance ON campus
A freshman slit their wrist vertically so blood was like everywhere
There was a sophmore fight with our rival school... apparently over some myspace drama. Our school kicked the other schools butt, but it happend on OUR campus, and the dude broke the other kids nose!
Girlfight during lunch. One girl got a concusion
Texting mishap => a student got his phone taken away and the VP took it and started texting other people on it. Whoever texted back got their phone taken away. And one girl sent the phone a picture of her doing drugs.
I want to stop ALL the drama, maybe make a club that stops it all or something.
but clubs arent very popular at my school

What should I do? I need all this crazy stuff to stop.

i'm in middle school but my schoool isn' the best there is only on middle school in our town. it's pretty bad. Last year my cousin told me that they had a lockdown for 4 hours. The highschool is even worse. I grew up in a pretty bad neighboorhood so i'm used to this stuff but i've moved a sorta peaceful neighborhood so it's pretty quiet. But there's been 2 or 3 shootings science i've moved there

that kinda of stuff happens at my school all the time....like we have fights like once a month, now whenever a fight breaks out, the police comes. everyone texts at our school. ppl drink/smoke before and after school. yea...and we had some lockdowns cause of guns b4....its just part of life...

huh, sounds like the stuff some other schools i know of do.
but, you CAN start a club. even if they're not that popular, im sure you can talk to other people and find others who agree with you.
and if you get enough people to join, you can start making posters against drugs and drinking [including some facts about drugs. ex: somebody dies every however many minutes from an alcohol related accident or something. my school has posters like that everywhere]. you can also ask a teacher to moderate your club, or something.
just a few ideas, but i think some people take these things a little too far.

I care about other peoples safety.

I find your posts on this thread rude. Sorry. Just because my school has problems doesnt mean I live in the slums or ghetto. Im upper middle class thank you very much.

OMG!! That's really bad, sounds like a couple of public high schools in Sydney, that I know of to have done things like this! Thank god I don't go to one of them!! At my school there are occasional fights but the school handles them really well, (its catholic, all boys), so thats kinda what you'd expect!

Most high schools in Sydney are either all boys or all girls, only a few are co-ed (both boys and girls). Elementry is co-ed though!

How it works in Australia, is that Middle School and High School are combined to make our High School. Elementry School is the same here though. So Elementry K-6 grades and High 7-12 grades.

There is quite a lot of incidences at my school, but none of them are this extreme! Although I have herd stories about other High School's! Like a girl who slit her wrists at a public High School! It's so scary!!

Well I am in middle school and, last year (before i went to that school) a boy got expelled(sp?) because cops found an illegal drug in his locker. There is some people on drugs at my school, but not that many, I go to a nice school.

in my school 2 guys in 8th grade got expelled for drugs and last year 5 cheerleaders and 5 drillteamers, who were freshmen, were expelled for drugs and just doing bad stuff and a lot of the freshmen last year did bad stuff so now this years freshmen aren't aloud to bring dates to dances or anything like tht

It was pretty scary last year since I was still getting used to the area and there being fights all the time.
But then you pretty much expected it.
I really wanna move back to San Diego but you saying this is making me think of how much it's changed since I left.

there is so many fights i cant even remember how many and ppl meeting up w/ ppl in the restrooms and in our highschool there is a list of ppl this kid wants to shoot and my brother is #1 on the list its so scary

wow...the only thing that happens @ my school is that this one kid wrote bad words on the cumputer.
The only advice i have that may and may not work is to trancefur to an all girls school or all boys school or to go 2 a private school (if u go to 1 go to a public school i g2 a private school and none of this rarely eva happens).
Tell ur parents and ask them what u should do. (like i said this may or may not work or be the best way! but it's a way)

Ok, so without giving away too much information that you can guess my school...
- About ten kids got into this humungous fight, and you can definately tell it was a gang fight.
- Way over half of them were arrested

it was all over the news.
Its scary where I live, and people's safety can definately be in danger, i see where you're coming from.

Wow! Our school is crazy about trying to prevent that. Everyone is required to do the clubs(though we choose them) but the teachers make them up and they are on wendsday, ccp period every other week.


The other weeks, we have these "classroom meetings" to play communication games, talk about bullying, talk about other stuff, watch and talk about a bunch of "Rachel's Challenge stuff" and trying to prevent everything. The teachers stand by the doors between periods and write down anyone who bullys anyone else.


Our school is really strict.

We only get to go to the bathroom 25 times every 9 weeks cause some people use their passes to get out of class.
