Lawsuit Claims 'Hannah Montana' idea stolen

I was on Yahoo News UK and i saw this!!!

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The Los Angeles comedy writer-producer who penned Fox's "In Living Color" and created Nickelodeon's "Roundhouse" has sued the Walt Disney Co., claiming it stole the idea for its hit Disney Channel show, "Hannah Montana," from him.
The lawsuit said that in late 2001, Morris Taylor "Buddy" Sheffield pitched Disney Channel executives the idea for a children's TV show about a junior high school boy named Roland Dillard who leads a secret life as a pop star named Rock Ryder.
A Disney Channel spokeswoman said on Friday the cable network had no comment on the lawsuit.
According to the lawsuit, Sheffield said Disney executives appeared interested in the concept after an initial meeting and asked him to write several sample scenes. A week after he turned in the scenes, Disney Channel passed on the project, the lawsuit said. It was filed on Thursday in Los Angeles,
Disney Channel launched "Hannah Montana," a series about a teenage girl who leads a secret life as a pop star, in 2006. It has become the channel's top-rated series, and the No. 2 rated U.S. TV series with kids ages 6 to 14, and has spawned two best-selling soundtracks.
The lawsuit claims Disney could owe Sheffield and his production company "millions of dollars" in lost profits and damages and he demands compensation for his legal fees.

Personally, i think the guy left it a little too late so its kinda suspicious. I mean, has he JUST heard of Hannah Montana now??

Now i wouldnt exactly say Nick is "jealous," just angry. Maybe they did come up with a show like this, but maybe they did it after HM aired, or maybe they just never decided to air their show and want to make some money. And it isnt like Nick doesnt have some classic amazing shows. hello? Spongebob! They're the birthplace of that little annoying yellow sponge that everyone has to love. I sort of agree with you, and sorta think they are jealous.

Most of the Disney shows are waaaaay better than the Nick shows, but there are some Nick classics as well.

I just want to add my two cents...

First, Nickelodeon has NOTHING to do with this lawsuit. This guy worked for them over 10 years ago, and hasn't done anything for them since.

Second, the worst that could happen is Disney could have to pay this guy some money and add him as a creator or give him a "Based on a concept by" credit to either the opening titles or the credits that go across the bottom of the screen at the begining of every episode.

I doubt that it will get canceled because of this.

So, is hannah montana canceled?? please reply fast guys! It will really calm me down. According to epguides.com, its done! with 44 episodes.. but in other sites hannah montana has 45 episodes. What is the truth?? I don't have any clue. Please help. I'm a huge fan of Miley.
