The original idea for this show was based on the That's So Raven (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/That%27s_So_Raven) episode "Goin' Hollywood" which was supposed to be the pilot episode for a sitcom called Better Days in which a child star of a popular TV show of the same name was to try her hand at going to a normal school. The episode New Kid in School has the basic premise as that aforementioned episode. The series' working title was changed to The Idol Life, but was later changed again to Hannah Montana.[verification needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability)] Other names considered for the title were The Secret Life of Zoe Stewart (discarded as too similar to Zoey 101 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoey_101) on Nickelodeon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickelodeon)), The Popstar Life!, and Alexis Texas, (scrapped as it would portray the state as too hillbilly). Former American Juniors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Juniors) finalist Jordan McCoy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jordan_McCoy) and Pop/R&B singer JoJo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JoJo_%28singer%29) (who rejected the role) were considered for the role of Zoe Stewart. Miley Cyrus originally auditioned for the role of the "best friend"[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannah_Montana_%28TV_series%29#_note-DVD) Lilly Romero, later changed to Lilly Truscott, but they thought she would be better for the main character (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protagonist), so she tried out for Zoe Stewart/Hannah Montana. Zoe Stewart was later changed to Chloe Stewart (due mainly to the release of Nickelodeon's new show Zoey 101 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoey_101)), which was eventually changed to Miley when she got the part. The names of Hannah Montana were changed a few times. Three of the previous names were Anna Cabana, Samantha York, and Alexis Texas. Alexis Texas was almost used, but they thought that it would overrate Texas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas) as a hillbilly state.[citation needed] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citing_sources):))

Actually, I did know that (except for "Former American Juniors finalist Jordan McCoy was considered for the role of Zoe Stewart"), but it is a lot of interesting info, so thanks for posting it here! :D

Jordan Mccoy may have not gotten the part, but she just released her first single called "Just Watch Me" I've listened to it, and it's pretty good, but I just can't imagine her as Hannah Montana instead of Miley.

That's interesting. Thanks the info! I'm glad she ended up as Hannah Montana, and not Alexis Texas, although I guess I'd be saying the exact opposite if it were the other way around.

Thankss.

I didn't know it was BOTH Zoe and Chloe at one point...When I was watching Miley's audition tape it sounded like the people in the background/Miley said Zoe one time and Chloe another, so I was like, "Did they say Chloe or Zoe?" I guess they said both...that cleared up a little confusion...I didn't know about the That's So Raven thing, but all the other stuff I did. I can DEFINITELY not picture JoJo as Hannah Montana/"Chloe", esp. since she's like 2 years older...
