Help Me When No One Else Is There <<<<sequel to my previous fanfic “These Wounds Won’t Seem To Heal”!


*WARNING* This fanfic is sad, so if you cry easily, bring tissues. :17:

This fanfic pretty much picks up where my other one left off so you might wanna read the first one before you read this one! Here (http://www.mymostwanted.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37828) is the link ! Miley’s POV is is purple, Oliver’s is in black, and Lilly’s is in light blue. My first fanfic was sad, and everybody liked it, so this one's sad too.

Chapter 1: The Message.

Miley hugged her best friend Lilly again. Thank god, Lilly’s alive! She thought.

“When do you get out of the hospital?” Miley asked her.

“I don’t know, I was a little too busy being in a coma to ask!” she said.

Miley, Lilly, and Oliver all laughed.

The nurse walked in bringing with her a lunch tray.

“Oh great! Lunch!” Lilly said, happily.

“Um, nurse?” Miley asked the woman.

“Yes?” she answered.

“When does Lilly get out of the hospital?” she asked.

“Um, in about two days.” The nurse anwered.

“Yes!” Lilly said, as she gobbled down her cheese sandwich.

“That’s great, Lil.” Oliver said, giving her a kiss on the cheek.

“I know.” Lilly said.

Then they heard a beeping noise.

“What the heck is that?” Oliver asked.

“Oh,” Miley said, “It’s my cell phone.”

Miley flipped open her pink sparkly phone and saw that she had a new text message. She opened the message. And read it.

Her eyes widened. “Oh my god.” She said.

“What?!” Lilly and Oliver asked.

“The message says…..”

Chapter 2: OMG!

Lilly and Oliver waited with baited breath to hear what the message was.

“The message says:
‘Hello Miley, or should I say Hannah?
Your secret isn’t safe anymore. I know you’re Hannah Montana and you are in for a rude awakening. This is the real world Miley, and in this world, you can’t beat me. But the best part is, you don’t know who I am so you’re defenseless. Inform the media of your secret or I will.

-----Anonymous’ “ Miley said, with her eyes bulging.

“Oh my god.” Lilly said, her mouth hanging open.

“Who do you think it is?” Oliver asked.

“Amber and Ashley?” suggested Lilly.

“No, they’re too dumb to figure this out…. Hmmm.” Miley said.

“Who else then?” Oliver asked.

“I don’t know,” Miley said, “Guys, what am I going to do? Someone knows I’m Hannah and they’re gonna spread it around!”

“I know!” Lilly said, “This is horrible!”

“But, I think I know who it is.” Oliver said.

“Who?” They both asked in unison.

“The one person you trust who doesn’t know you’re secret.” Oliver said.

“WHO IS IT OLIVER?!” Lilly asked.

“Ok, ok.” He said. “I think it’s……”

Chapter 3: NO WAY!

“I think it’s Jake.” Oliver said.

Miley’s mouth dropped open. How could it be Jake? My boyfriend Jake?

“How could it be Jake?” Miley asked him.

“Yeah, Ollie?” Lilly asked.

“I don’t know,” Oliver said, “He’s just been weird lately… He punched me in the hallway and said ‘The same goes for you’re friend Miley.’.”

“OMG he did?” Miley asked. She was shocked.

“Yeah, I still have a bruise on my arm.” Oliver said, seriously.

“Wow.” Lilly said, her mouth hanging open again, “I never though that Jake of all people would do that.”

“I know.” Miley said, “I’m so going after him on Monday.”

They all laughed.

“Why would he say that???” Oliver asked to nobody in particular.

“Maybe because he’s a lying cheating slime ball.” Lilly suggested.

“Lilly!” Miley said.

“Sorry.” Lilly said, smiling.

“What am I going to do?” Miley asked.

“I don’t know” They both said.

“Don’t worry Mile,” Lilly said, “I’ve got your back.”

“Thanks, Lil,” Miley said as she gave her friend a hug.

“Um….Ahem.” Oliver said, his arms outstretched.

Lilly and Miley gave him a hug too.

Chapter 4: Payback

Lilly walked into Seaview Middle School, skateboard in hand and a smile on her face.

“Lilly!” A familiar voice said, happily from behind her.

She turned around and hugged Miley.

“Hey!” She said.

“You feeling better then?” Miley asked.

“Much better.” She replied.

“Good! Because I’m going to need your help with something.” Miley said, an evil smile spreading across her face.

“I know that look,” Lilly said, “What do you have in mind?”

Miley pulled Lilly into the girl’s bathroom and filled her in on a little plan she liked to call “Operation Smoke Out The Rat* “.

“Ooh! I like the way you think.” Lilly said, an equally evil smile coming across her face. “When do we put this evil plan into effect?”

“After lunch.” Miley said.

“Ok…” Lilly said, “How will I know when?”

Miley handed her a red walkie-talkie and put another one onto her belt. “I’ll tell you when by use of these.” She said.

“Awesome!” Lilly said, clipping hers onto her own belt.

“By the way, I love your belt!” Miley said.

“Really? I just got it yeterday. They had lots of them at the store…” She said.

And the girls walked down the hall to their next class gabbing away.


*I know that the name of the operation is from TSL but I couldn't think of anything else.

Chapter 5: Smoke Out The Rat.

Miley gathered her books and headed to her locker. Once she put them away, she walked to the entrance to the Cafeteria.

She unhooked the walkie-talkie from her belt and flipped it on.

“Lilly? Lilly are you there? It’s Miley! Come in!” Miley said into the walkie-talkie.

Lilly heard her and turned her own on.

“Miley? Miley, do you read me? It’s Lilly, over.” Lilly said into hers.

“Operation Smoke Out The Rat is ago.” Miley said, “Meet me in front of the caf!”

“Got it! I’m on my way!” Lilly said.

Miley felt as if she was in a spy movie. The name’s Bond, Miley Bond. She laughed at her own idea.

Minutes later, Lilly appeared next to her. “Ready for action, boss.” She said. She lifted her arm in a salute.

Miley laughed. “Alright, the plan is all set up. As soon as he walks in to have his lunch, it’s payback time.”

“Awesome.” Lilly said, “Who exactly are we pranking though?”

“Jake!” Miley said.

“Oh, right….” Lilly said, “I knew that!”

They waited and in about 2 minutes saw Jake approaching the lunch line.

“OK ready?” Miley asked Lilly.

“Ready!” Lilly said back.

With that, Miley and Lilly both tugged on a rope that was above them.

For a moment nothing happened, then a box opened above Jake’s head and rained water down on him. He was soaked from head to toe.

Laughing, Miley opened her cell phone and sent Jake a text message:

‘Jake,
I’ll never reveal my secret and you can’t make me. Oh, and the whole boyfriend thing? It’s so over!
Toodles,
You-know-who’

Chapter 6: Shock.


Miley sand Lilly stood laughing as Jake walked out of the cafeteria.

“That was hilarious!” Lilly said, as she and Miley high-fived.

“I know! I can’t believe it worked!” Miley said, wiping tears of laughter from her eyes.

Just then, the bell rang. Lilly and Miley said their good-byes and walked to their next classes.

That was hysterical! Lilly thought. But what will Jake do to Miley? What if he does something really bad to her?! She thought, worriedly.

Lilly managed to stay awake during History class and Math. But she fell completely asleep during English.

“Ms. Truscott!” her snobby teacher said, “Do I need to send you to the office?”

“No, Mr. Mullins.” Lilly said, propping her head up on her hands,

She, Miley, and Oliver met up outside to walk home.

“So…” Oliver said as they walked down Johnson street, “What happened between you guys and Jake?”

Lilly exchanged glances with Miley and they laughed.

“Let’s just say he got into a soggy situation.” Lilly said in reply.

When they reached Lilly’s street, she waved good-bye to them and walked off down it.

Miley said good-bye to Oliver when she saw her Malibu beach house.

“See you tomorrow Ollie!” She said, waving.

“Yeah! Bye!” He said.

She walked inside.

“Dad I’m home!” She called into the house. There was no reply.

“Dad?” She called again, “Jackson?”

Hmm. She thought, I guess they had plans. Oh well.

She sat down and did her homework.

She was almost through with her Math homework when the doorbell rang.

She opened the door to see Lilly.

“Hey, Lil-“ She broke off, horrified at what she saw.

Lilly had a piece of cloth stuffed in her mouth to prevent her from speaking, and her arms were tied behind her.

“Lilly? What happened?” Miley asked. She was scared,

Then, a figure appeared at the door.

“If you want your friend to live, you’ll tell the media your secret.” The person said.

Chapter 7: Don’t Do It!

Lilly sat on her knees in front of Miley. Miley was scared, Lilly could tell.

“Who are you?” Miley asked.

“I’m just getting my payback on you, Stewert.” He said, as he stepped into the light.

Miley gasped. “Jake?” she asked.

“Yes, Miley.” Jake said, in a sinister voice.

“But…But why Jake?” Miley asked.

“Miley, Miley, Miley, you are so vulnerable. This is all part of my awesome plan to destroy you.” He said.

“Jake, I never thought you would stoop so low!” She said, nastily, “Let Lilly go!”

Jake laughed. “No, I won’t let her go until you tell the media who you really are Hannah.”

Miley can’t tell the press that she’s Hannah Montana! Even if he does have me tied up! Lilly thought.

Lilly managed to spit the cloth out of her mouth. “Don’t do it! Miley! Don’t do it!” she said.

Jake kicked Lilly. “Shut up, Truscott.” He said.

“Jake, you are so off my 3 hottest guys list!” Lilly yelled.

“I’m calling the police Jake. If that is your real name.” Miley said as she grabbed the phone and dialed 911.

Jake pulled out a knife, and Lilly screamed.

“Miley look out!” Lilly yelled as she kicked Jake with as much force as possible.

“AHHH!” Miley screamed as she ran from Jake.

He ran after her as fast as he could. She ducked behind the piano.

“It’s over Jake! The police are on their way!” Miley yelled from behind the piano.

“Oh yeah?” Jake asked as he grabbed Miley and slashed her side with the knife, “I thought it was just getting started.”

Lilly screamed when she saw blood dripping from Miley’s side. She wriggled free from the ropes tied around her and punched Jake hard on the nose. Jake turned, blood pouring from his nose, and was about to slash Lilly. She backed away into a corner.

“Lights out Truscott.” Jake said as he drew the knife down.

“HOLD IT!” A voice called from the doorway.

Lilly turned to see who it was. Policemen were standing there, holding guns, ready to fire. A smile spread across Lilly’s face. Thank god they’re here! She thought.

“You’re under arrest, young man.” They said, as they handcuffed him.

Then, one of the men walked to Miley, who was bleeding on the floor “An ambulance is on its way, Miss.” He said to Lilly. She was sobbing on the floor next to Miley.

She looked up at Jake with anger written across her face. “I will hurt you Jake Ryan, if it’s the last thing I do! You hurt Miley, I’ll hurt you.” She said menacingly. Jake was driven to the police station as the ambulance pulled up. Miley was put on a stretcher and given a bandage for her wound. Lilly held her hand all the way to the hospital.

Chapter 8: I Love You.

Miley was rushed to the emergency room when they arrived.

“Lilly, maybe you should wait in the waiting room.” Robby Ray said.

Lilly looked at her friend, tears streaming down her face. “OK.” She said.

She gave Miley a gentle little hug, and left the room.

How can this be happening? Lilly thought, Why me? Why now? I just got out of that coma three days ago and now Miley’s hurt? It just seems weird. Lilly wondered if Oliver knew yet. She flipped open her blue cell phone and called him.

Come on Ollie, pick up!

“Hello?” A familiar voice said.

“Oliver!! Hi!” Lilly said, trying to keep her voice from trembling.

“Hey Lil!” Oliver said, back.

“Oliver…” Lilly said, “Something’s happened. Something bad has happened.”

“What is it?” Oliver asked.

“You were right about Jake.” Lilly said, as more tears came to her eyes, “He was behind it all.”

Oliver snapped his fingers, “I knew it!” he said.

“Yeah, but that’s not all.” She said, “After I went to my house earlier today after school, he broke in and tied me up. He even put a piece of cloth in my mouth so I couldn’t speak!”

“Oh my gosh!” Oliver yelped.

“I know. Then, he took me over to Miley’s house and threatened to kill me if she didn’t reveal her secret!” Lilly said.

“The scum-bag!” Oliver said.

“But, I made her not tell and then she called the police.” Lilly continued, “Then, she went and hid under the piano, and he went over and c-cut her side with a knife. I untied myself and punched him in the nose, and then the police came. We’re at the hospital now.”

“I’ll come now!” Oliver said, “I’m on my way!”

“OK, see ya then!” Lilly said and she hung up.

Robby Ray came out of the room to Lilly. “Miley woke up, she wants to talk to you.”

“OK.” Lilly said, fighting back tears.

She walked in and sat by Miley’s bed. “I’m here, Mile.” She said, quietly.

Miley slowly opened her eyes. “Lilly…” She said.

“Yes, Miley, I’m here.” Lilly said, the tears stinging her eyes.

“Lilly,” She said using as much strength as she could, “If I don’t live through this, I want you to know that I love you and Oliver very much. You guys will always be my best friends.”

“I know Miley. You’ll always be mine too.” Lilly said, giving her friend a gentle hug.

The nurse walked over to them, “I’m sorry miss, we’re about to run a test on this young lady. Could you please leave the room?”

“Y-yeah.” Lilly said, as she slowly let go of Miley’s hand. “I love you Miley.”

Miley smiled. “I love you too, Lil.”

And with tears running down her cheeks, she left the room.

Chapter 8: No!

Oliver arrived at the hospital about 5 minutes later.

“Hey Lilly.” He said, “How’s Miley?”

But Lilly just shook her head, unable to speak because of the tears.

“I’m sorry Lilly.” He said, and he gave her a hug.

“Th-anks Ollie.” Lilly said.

Throughout this time, Lilly spent it thinking of a song to sing to Miley in her head. She decided to sing “When She Loved Me” by Sarah Mclachlan. Maybe it’ll make her feel better. Lilly thought. I hope it does. The minute Miley comes out that door I’ll sing it for her. She knew Miley would get better.

“Oliver?” Lilly asked after a long time of waiting.

“Yep?” Oliver asked, leaning his head back on the wall.

“She will get better, won’t she?” Lilly asked.

“I hope so Lil, I really hope so.” He said.

“What if she doesn’t get better though?” Lilly asked, sitting up, “What if she gets worse? What if-?”

“Lilly!” Oliver yelled, “Calm down! Don’t think about that now!”

“Yeah, you’re right.” Lilly said.

Just then, Robby Ray came out of the door. “Miley’s tests are over.” He said.

“Great!” Lilly said, smiling, “Can we go see her now?”

“Well, no actually.” He said.

Lilly and Oliver frowned.

“Why not?” They asked in unison.

“Miley…she’s…not better.” He said.

Lilly stood up, “W-what do you mean?” she asked.

“Miley….is…” Robby Ray said, tears rolling down his cheeks, “Miley is dead. I’m so sorry.”

Lilly’s eyes widened. No, Miley can’t be dead! I must be dreaming! Lilly, wake up! She thought.

“No…She, she can’t be dead!” Lilly yelled, tears stinging her face as they dripped down, “It’s a lie!”

“Lilly…” Robby Ray said, moving toward her.

“NO!” Lilly screamed.

The nurse came out of the room, “Miss, you must be quiet. You’ll wake up the patients.”

But Lilly didn’t care, she didn’t care if the whole world could hear her. Miley was dead, how could you be quiet at a time like this.

Lilly ran into Miley’s room and, seeing her best friend’s lifeless body, collapsed onto the floor, sobbing into her jacket.

Chapter 9: “I Hate This Song”

Lilly tried to pull herself up into a chair, but her arms felt like Jell-O. I have no strength left. Lilly thought. All my strength is lying on that bed, dead. Why should I even continue living? How can I keep on living if Miley’s dead? Lilly was so confused and afraid. She just lay next to Miley’s bed and sobbed uncontrollably.

“Lilly,” Robby Ray said, trying to pull her off the ground, “Lilly, come on. I’ll take you home.”

“No,” Lilly said, “I’ll stay here-“

Robby Ray looked down at her, “You can’t stay here”

Lilly thought for a minute. Then she looked up, her face dripping with sweat and tears. “Ok, I’ll go home.” She said.

He opened the door to leave, Lilly walked to Miley. She leaned down and hugged her friend for the last time. “Good bye, Miley. You will always be my best friend. I love you.” She whispered in her ear. She walked out of the hospital to Robby Ray’s car. He drove to her house, “OK, here we are.” He said, unlocking the doors. Lilly looked at her house, all of a sudden it looked mean and unhappy. “Actually Mr. Stewert, could you take me to your house?” She asked. “OK, Lilly. Are you sure you don’t want to get out?” he asked.

“Yes, I’m sure.” She replied.

He drove slowly down the road and turned on the radio. Lilly’s favorite song “Walk Away” by Paula DeAnda came on. I hate this song, Lilly thought. “Mr. Stewert, I’m sorry but I don’t like this song very much, could you change it?” she asked.

“I thought this song was your favorite!” Robby Ray said.

“OK,” he said, “We’re at the house now.”

Lilly got out of the car and walked into the house. She didn’t take time to look around, she ran straight to Miley’s room. She stood in front of the door and gathered up the courage to open it. I can handle this. It’s her room! I’ve been in it loads of times! She thought. And with that, she opened the door.

Miley room was just as she had left it. Her purple walls held pictures of Lilly and her together. Lilly walked over and looked at a picture of them at Disney World. Tears came to her eyes. The picture was taken the day that Lilly had thrown up on the Tower Of Terror ride. Miley had used the money she had saved for 2 months, to buy Lilly a plush Mickey doll and some ice cream. Tears rolled down her cheeks.

Then, she saw Miley’s guitar propped up against the wall. She walked over and picked it up. Miley taught me how to play this… Lilly thought, I hope I remember how. She sat down on the ground and played a song for her best friend.

“Wow!” A voice said from the door.

Lilly turned to see who it was, and saw Robby Ray standing in the doorway.

“I’m sorry,” he said, “I was on my way to the kitchen and then I heard beautiful singing. I never knew you could sing so well Lilly.”

“Thanks.” She said, wiping her eyes, “I never really thought about singing much, since it was Miley’s hobby.”

“I just came up with a great idea! When you’re done, come to the kitchen and I’ll tell you about it.” He said.

Lilly nodded. He closed the door and walked into the kitchen.

Lilly looked out the window. “I know you heard that song, Miley.” She said into the sky, “And I hope you liked it, because I was singing it for you. I hope you don’t hate me for singing ‘cause I know it was your thing… But I kinda enjoy it. Anyway, I dedicate that song to you. Love you, bye!” and she walked out of the room.

Chapter 7: Don’t Do It!

Lilly sat on her knees in front of Miley. Miley was scared, Lilly could tell.

“Who are you?” Miley asked.

“I’m just getting my payback on you, Stewert.” He said, as he stepped into the light.

Miley gasped. “Jake?” she asked.

“Yes, Miley.” Jake said, in a sinister voice.

“But…But why Jake?” Miley asked.

“Miley, Miley, Miley, you are so vulnerable. This is all part of my awesome plan to destroy you.” He said.

“Jake, I never thought you would stoop so low!” She said, nastily, “Let Lilly go!”

Jake laughed. “No, I won’t let her go until you tell the media who you really are Hannah.”

Miley can’t tell the press that she’s Hannah Montana! Even if he does have me tied up! Lilly thought.

Lilly managed to spit the cloth out of her mouth. “Don’t do it! Miley! Don’t do it!” she said.

Jake kicked Lilly. “Shut up, Truscott.” He said.

“Jake, you are so off my 3 hottest guys list!” Lilly yelled.

“I’m calling the police Jake. If that is your real name.” Miley said as she grabbed the phone and dialed 911.

Jake pulled out a knife, and Lilly screamed.

“Miley look out!” Lilly yelled as she kicked Jake with as much force as possible.

“AHHH!” Miley screamed as she ran from Jake.

He ran after her as fast as he could. She ducked behind the piano.

“It’s over Jake! The police are on their way!” Miley yelled from behind the piano.

“Oh yeah?” Jake asked as he grabbed Miley and slashed her side with the knife, “I thought it was just getting started.”

Lilly screamed when she saw blood dripping from Miley’s side. She wriggled free from the ropes tied around her and punched Jake hard on the nose. Jake turned, blood pouring from his nose, and was about to slash Lilly. She backed away into a corner.

“Lights out Truscott.” Jake said as he drew the knife down.

“HOLD IT!” A voice called from the doorway.

Lilly turned to see who it was. Policemen were standing there, holding guns, ready to fire. A smile spread across Lilly’s face. Thank god they’re here! She thought.

“You’re under arrest, young man.” They said, as they handcuffed him.

Then, one of the men walked to Miley, who was bleeding on the floor “An ambulance is on its way, Miss.” He said to Lilly. She was sobbing on the floor next to Miley.

She looked up at Jake with anger written across her face. “I will hurt you Jake Ryan, if it’s the last thing I do! You hurt Miley, I’ll hurt you.” She said menacingly. Jake was driven to the police station as the ambulance pulled up. Miley was put on a stretcher and given a bandage for her wound. Lilly held her hand all the way to the hospital.

Chapter 10: Your kidding!

Lilly walked all the way downstairs to the kitchen and sat down next to Robby Ray. “What did you want to tell me?” she asked him.

“I had an amazing idea!” he said excitedly, “I thought maybe since no one knows that Hannah Montana is dead…”

A tear rolled down his cheek, but he swished it off.

“Go on…” Lilly said.

“I thought maybe you could become sort of the new Hannah Montana! You could kinda follow up to Hannah.” He said.

“Your kidding!” she said, amazed, “I don’t know Mr. Stewert…Singing’s not really my thing.”

“But you sang so beautifully earlier!” Robby Ray said.

“Well…” she said, “Ok!”

“Great!” he said, happily, “We’ll call the company tomorrow! What’s your popstar name going to be?”

“Hmm…” Lilly thought for a moment, “Lanna Montana! I can wear a black wig that’s streaked with pink!”

“Sound’s great!” He said, “Actually, I’ll call the studio right now!”

“OK!” Lilly said, smiling, “Well, I should get home.”

“Alright, bye!” he said.

“Bye!” she said, as she walked out the door and to her house.

She thought a lot about what she was about to do. I don’t know whether I should or not. What if all the fans hate me? What if Miley hates me? She thought and she began to run. Finally she reached her house and walked inside.

“Hey Lil!” her mom greeted her.

“Hey mom.” Lilly said, as she walked upstairs to her room.

This is so messed up! Lilly thought. Me? Be Hannah Montana? Me?! I can’t deal with all this drama! What next? Just then, her phone rang.

“Hello?” she asked.

“Lilly!” Oliver’s voice said into the phone.

“Ollie!” Lilly said, relieved to hear a friendly voice, “What’s up?”

“Nothing,” he said, “I just missed you. You left the hospital before I could talk to you.”

“Y-yeah.” Lilly said, her voice starting to tremble. She remembered the event. A tangle of faces, Miley’s dead body, so many tears, and disappointment.

“Lilly?” He asked her, “Are you OK?”

“Oh-oh, yeah, I’m f-fine.” She said.

“Well, I’m sorry Miley’s dead. I feel so horrible! Like I could have stopped it!” he said.

“How can you feel that way Ollie? You weren’t there! You didn’t see what I saw! I KNOW WHO KILLED HER!” Lilly was shouting but she didn’t know why.

“Chill out Lil,” Oliver said, “YOU know who killed Miley? Tell me everything!!!!”

“O-Ok.” She said. She then telled him in detail about how Jake had broken into her house, and then threatened Miley. Then she finally told him about how he slashed her. “Jake totally meant to do it. H-he pulled out his k-knife and cut her right along her side. It was deep cut too. Blood everywhere and…and.” She couldn’t go on, but broke into sobs.

“L-lilly, I think I should go now, I think my M-mom’s calling m-me.” He said.

“Yeah, me too.” She lied. “B-bye Ollie.”

And he hung up.

Lilly threw her cell down on her bed and fell into her bean-bag chair, crying. I know how to take some of my pain away. She thought. She walked to her dad’s room and took his pocketknife with her back to her room. She stood by her mirror, the knife poised in her hand over her wrist. She looked at her reflection, her face was red and wet, her eyes bloodshot from so much crying. I can do it. It’s just cutting! It’s not like I’m killing myself! She thought. Here I go.

Chapter 11: The Funeral

Lilly stopped just before she was about to cut her skin. What am I doing? She thought. Me cutting? That’s not right! Why am I doing this? And then she dropped the knife on the floor and collapsed into a chair.

Oliver’s head was resting on his arm. He was asleep. Just then the phone rang and he woke up. He reached over and picked it up.

“Hello?” he asked.

“Oliver, hi.” A voice said into the phone, “It’s Mr. Stewert.”

“Oh! Hi.” Oliver said, sleepily.

“I just wanted to tell you that we are having a funeral for Miley tomorrow. If you want to come, you know where it is.” He said.

“Oh,” Oliver said, sadly, “Yeah, I’ll definitely come.”

“OK! Well, see you then.” Robby Ray said.

“Alright,” Oliver said, “Bye.”

“Bye.” Robby Ray said, and he hung up.


Lilly got out of her father’s car and walked up the pathway to the cemetery. I can handle this. She thought. This is for Miley, I have to stay strong. She saw Oliver sitting down in a chair. Then, her and her father found their seats and sat down. They listened to people make speeches about how sad they were Miley was dead. Then, it was Lilly’s turn. She walked up to the podium and cleared her throat.

She took a deep breath. “Well, I don’t really know where to start.” Lilly said, “Miley was my best friend in the whole world. We did everything together. I’ll never forget all the things we did together. Miley changed my life the day she came to Seaview Middle School. Before she became a student, I was the object of everyone’s ridicule. Everyone called me a freak because I was a ‘skater girl’. I never thought anyone would ever change that.” She paused for a minute and wiped her eyes. “But Miley did! Miley wasn’t afraid to break away from the crowd. One day, she sat down at my table at lunch. Instantly, we were inseparable. I’ll never forget that day. She became the sister I never had.” Lilly was in tears but she continued. “Miley will always be my best friend, nothing will change that. I will never ever forget her because she was my first best friend. If I could make one wish, it would be to say good-bye to her. I never got the chance to say g-good-bye.” Lilly choked out, between sobs. “It all happened so fast, and I wasn’t fast enough. I wish I could have died instead. And now I would like to sing a song for my best friend, Miley Stewert.” And Lilly picked up her guitar and sat on a stool next to the microphone and sang.

The crowd applauded her and she placed her guitar down. She wiped her tear-stained face and smiled to the crowd. “I know Miley can hear me, and I’d like to say something to her.” Lilly turned her head towards the sky and said, “Miley, I miss you. I will always love you Miley. Never forget me.” And with that, she ran off the stage and all the way to a tree. Then, she sank down and sobbed harder than she had ever cried before.

Chapter 12: Sorrow, Tears, and Kisses.

Lilly crouched down in front of the oak tree, her head in her hands. She felt someone watching her and turned around. It was Oliver.

“Hey Ollie.” Lilly said.

“Hey.” He said, “I was worried about you. Are you OK?”

She tried to smile, but it turned out to look more like a grimace. “Yeah, I’m fine.”

“OK, just wanted to make sure…” He said, sitting down next to her in the grass. He gave her a hug.

Suddenly, Lilly collapsed in a fit of sobs into Oliver’s arms. “Ollie,” She said, in a choked voice, “I can’t take this! The dream was one thing but this is for real! Why did she have do die? Why did she leave us?”

Oliver’s eyes widened. “ Lilly, calm down!” he said. He leaned over and kissed her on the lips, wiping her eyes. “It’s OK. Trust me, I’m sure she’s looking down on us right now.”

“I-I know,” She said, “But it’s just so hard to forget about it!”

“I know, Lil,” Oliver said, “But, she’s in a better place, and you can always talk to her whenever you want.”

“You’re right Ollie.” Lilly said, holding onto him, “I hope she still remembers me.”

“DUH! Of course she remembers you Lilly!” Oliver said, “You’re really hard to forget. You’re wonderful.”

“Awww, Ollykins,” She said, giving him a kiss on the lips, “You are so sweet.”

But then she saw that tears were trickling down Oliver’s nose and cheeks. “Oh, Oliver.” She said, wiping his face and hugging him tightly.

“I’m sorry Lil,” he said as they broke apart, “I know I’m supposed to be helping you get over this, but I can’t forget what happened!”

“I know Ollie.” Lilly said, “It’s hard to forget things like that, but sometimes you just have to look at the bright side of life.”

“I’m not talking about Miley’s death Lil.” He said, an uncertain look spreading across his face.

“What do you mean? Do you know something I don’t?” she asked, raising her eyebrows.

“Well,” he started, “It’s a long story.”

Lilly looked at her watch. 11:32 A.M. “I’ve got time.”

“Well…”

Chapter 13: Secrets.

“Well, while you were in that coma…” he started to say.

“Yes?” Lilly said, curiously.

“While you were in that coma…” He said, “We… Me and Miley…”

“JUST GET ON WITH IT OLIVER!” She said.

“OK! We became a couple!” Oliver finished, a scared look on his face.

The smile faded from Lilly’s face. And if looks could kill, the look on her face could have at least sent someone to the hospital.

“You cheated on me?!” Lilly asked, horrorstruck at what she was hearing.

“No, Lilly! I didn’t cheat on you. I just never really broke up with Miley.” He said, “I’m still your boyfriend Lil! I always will be.”

“You know what?” Lilly asked, standing up, “No! OK? I trusted you! I trusted you both! How could you be so selfish?”

“Lilly!” He said, standing up beside her and holding her hands. “Come on! I love you. You know that, don’t you?”

Lilly wrenched herself out of his grip, “Oliver! No, I’m not going to put myself in a place where I could get hurt again. Why would you do something so awful? Not only did you see her behind my back, you lied to me about everything! You and Miley are the biggest bunch of liars I’ve ever known! I hate you!”

And she ran off. “Lilly!” He yelled, but she was gone.

Well that’s just fantastic! Nice work, Oliver! Really nice! He made his way back to where the burial was taking place. They were about to lower Miley’s coffin into the ground. He pushed his way through the crowd of people and looked at Miley’s lifeless body. Then, he noticed two pieces of paper in her hands. He moved forward and uncurled her fingers to get them. He put them in his pocket and raced home.

He walked up to his room and opened the first piece of paper. He gasped when he saw Miley’s familiar writing. It was a letter to him! He took a deep breath and began to read.

Dear Oliver,
Hey Ollie! It’s Miley (but you already know that!). Haha. I have to keep this short because the nurse says I don’t have that much time left.
I’m sure that right now you and Lilly are pretty sad about what happened (haha, I sound all futuristic. Tee-hee.), but please don’t! I had the best life a girl could have! Mostly, because of you two! You and Lilly were the best friends anyone could possibly have, so thanks for all the great memories.
I miss you so much and I’ll never forget you. I hope you’ll do the same for me. I want to talk to you about our relationship Ollie. Please, tell Lilly about it for me. But do it gently, she’s pretty sensitive. Even though, I’m gone now, I’ll always watch you and love you. You are great, Oliver. Never change, and never forget me. I will see you again later in life.

Chapter 14: Lilly’s Letter.

I can’t believe Oliver has the dignity to come over here after what he did to me! Lilly thought. I hate him! I’ll never forgive him for this! Just then, the doorbell rang and she knew it was Oliver. She took her time coming down the stairs. She spoke into the intercom:

“Do you have an appointment? Jerk?” She asked him.

Oliver answered calmly. “Lilly, please open the door. I need to talk to you. Please.”

“Sorry, I have a strict no backstabbers policy. If I were to let you in, I’d be breaking that policy.” Lilly said, nastily. “So I guess I can’t.”

“Lilly!” Oliver said, his voice sounding shocked.

Lilly said nothing in response.

“Fine!” Oliver said. “Just listen to me OK?”

“OK,” Lilly said, “But make it quick.”

“I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings! When we were going out, you were unconscious and we all thought you were dead. I didn’t think you would take it so hard!” He said.

Lilly opened the door and Oliver tried to hug her. She kicked him in the knee and he fell to the ground. “If you didn’t think that I would take it hard, than you’re more of an idiot than I thought.”

“Lilly,” He gasped, “I’m sorry. Really, I am.”

“Leave me alone.” Lilly growled.

“At least let me give you this.” He said, reaching into his pocket.

“What is this?’ She asked taking the note from him.

“Just read it OK?” He asked, as he ran off.

Yeah, sure I’ll read it! Lilly thought. It’s probably a note explaining how sorry he is and how much he wants me back. Well, I’m not falling for it.

She walked back up to her room and sat down on her bed. In spite of herself, she opened the piece of paper. All thoughts of Oliver disappeared from her head, as she gasped. It was a note from Miley!! Through blurry eyes, she gathered up the courage to read it.

Dear Lilly,
I don’t have that much time to talk to you, so I’ll try to make this fast.
You are my best, best friend Lil, and I will never forget you. I know you said that I changed your life, but you changed mine. When I came to Seaview Middle School, I was the girl that everyone thought ate possum and the person everyone called a “hick”. But you set yourself apart from those people! I remember the day when you sat next to me at lunch, Lilly. On that day, I found the sister I never had! That girl was you. After that, things changed and I found someone who would stand by me no matter what. I found a person who made me stronger and helped me through a lot.
You are my best friend, and you always will be. I had the best life anyone could have, so please don’t mourn my death! I'm very happy because I'm with my mom in Heaven! I finally met my mommy, Lil! Be happy for me and never forget me. You are the best friend I ever had and I’ll love you forever. Never forget me Lil, because I will never forget you.

Lilly couldn’t move. She felt extremely happy but sad at the same time. I’ll never forget this. Lilly thought. Miley was about to die, but she didn’t forget me.

“I love you too Miley.” Lilly whispered in a choked voice. She wiped her face and left the room.

Chapter 15: “We Need To Talk”

Oliver sat in his room, thinking. I feel like a dork! I can’t believe Lilly hates me so much! I have to talk to her! Oliver went outside, and rode his bike to Lilly’s house. He knocked on the door.

Lilly’s voice appeared over the loudspeaker:

“Yes?” She asked.

“Lilly?” Oliver said, “It’s me. Can I please come in?”

There was a long silence. Oliver knew Lilly was thinking about if she should.

“Fine, come in.” She said, opening the door.

Oliver expected to see a sad but pretty Lilly greeting him. Instead, a sullen, dark face appeared in the doorway.

“Lilly?” Oliver asked, as if wondering whether or not she was real.

“What?” Lilly asked, aggressively.

“What happened?” He asked.

“None of your business.” Lilly snapped as she pulled him inside. “What do you want?”

“I want to talk about what happened yesterday.” Oliver said, as Lilly sat down on the couch.

“Why?” Lilly asked, “There is nothing to talk about! It’s over.”

“No. Listen to me Lilly! Please.” Oliver said.

“Fine. Make it quick.” Lilly said back.

“OK.” Oliver started. “I’m sorry for what I did to you. It was mean and I wasn’t thinking about your feelings. I was being a jerk, and I apologize. Please accept my apology Lilly! Please!”

Lilly sat in stony silence, staring at him.

“I’m begging here, Lil.” He said, crouching down on his knees in front of her.

“Well…” Lilly said. “You did say you were sorry… But you hurt me really badly Oliver. I’ve been extremely depressed since you told me. I felt awful.”

“Lilly, I-“ Oliver said.

“I’m not done yet.” Lilly said, interrupting him. “I told you that I would never forgive you for this.”

Oh great. Oliver thought. Here comes the part where she pushes me out of her house.

“But maybe I was the one who was being rude.” Lilly said, finally.

“What?” Oliver asked, shocked.

“You heard me!” Lilly said. “I was being a little touchy when you told me. I didn’t give you time to talk to me about it and I overreacted. I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings, Ollie.”

“But, Lilly,” Oliver said, “I’m the one who should be sorry! I’m the one who cheated on you behind your back without telling you.”

“I know. But if I had died in that coma, I would have wanted you to move on. So it’s not your fault at all.” Lilly said, trying to smile.

“Well, even if that’s true, I’m still sorry.” Oliver said. “I should have told you about me and Miley after you got better.”

Then, Lilly sank onto the floor and gave Oliver a hug. WOW! Oliver thought, happily. This worked out a lot better than I expected. He hugged Lilly back. When Lilly pulled away, Oliver pulled her back and kissed her.

Life doesn’t get better than this! He thought.

And as they broke apart, Lilly smiled at him. Not a fake, sullen one, a real genuine smile. And he smiled back.







A/N: This was my last chapter for four days cuz I'm leaving tomorrow! I'll write more on Thursday!

Chapter 16: In The Studio.

Lilly stood in the sound proof room in the recording studio with headphones over her ears.

“OK Lilly, go ahead and sing it one more time.” Robby Ray said into the intercom.

“OK, but then can I please take a break?” Lilly asked.

“Sure.” He answered.

She took a deep breath and let it out.

“Alright, Lilly, playback.” He said, meaning he was about to play the recorded music.

And she sang her heart out. She put as much emotion as she could into the song also.

“I miss you,
I miss your smile,
And I still shed a tear
Every once in a while

And even though it's different now,
You're still here somehow,
My heart won't let you go,
And I need you to know,

I miss you,
Shalalalala,
I miss you…”

“That was beautiful Lil.” Oliver said into the speaker.

“Thanks Ollie.” She said, smiling as she removed her headphones and walked out of the room. Oliver gave her a big hug.

“Lilly, that was all we needed, you’re done.” Robby Ray said, “You can go home now.”

“Thanks.” Lilly said, gratefully.

Oliver walked Lilly home with his arm around her waist. She leaned against him and put her head on his shoulder.

“Oliver?” Lilly asked.

“Hmm?” Oliver asked.

“I love you.” Lilly said, smiling at him.

Oliver stopped walking and pulled her head up gently. He gave her a long, slow kiss. “I love you too.” He said as they broke apart.

They reached Lilly’s house and Oliver walked her to the door.

“Thanks Ollie.” She said, kissing him on the cheek.

“Bye,” Oliver said, “See you tomorrow.”

She walked inside and up to her room. Once she reached her door, she pulled off her wig that she had been wearing and threw it down on the ground. She then entered her bedroom. When she got in, she exploded into tears. She couldn’t believe that she was doing this! How can I take Miley’s place like this. I don’t want to make her feel bad or make her mad at me! She looked all around her walls at all of the dozens of pictures of them together. Her eyes stopped on a picture of her and Miley after gym class:

I wish I could hug her one more time. Lilly thought, wiping her soaked eyes. Lilly couldn’t stand all this pain. She reached into her sock drawer and felt around until she found what she was looking for. She pulled a knife out of the drawer and rolled up her sleeve. It wasn’t just your normal pocket knife either! It was a kitchen knife! Perfect! Lilly thought. This will definitely remove my pain. She slowly put the blade to her wrist and let the blood run down her arm. She had to admit, it felt good. Maybe if I’m lucky, I’ll die! Then, I’ll see Miley again.

She looked down at her bleeding wrist and thought about Oliver. He would miss me a lot if I died. She thought. I have to stay alive for Ollie. But before she knew what had happened, everything became a blur.

She fell to the ground and her world went black.

This is my most suspenseful chapter yet!

Chapter 17: Oliver’s Accident.

When Lilly woke up, she was lying in her bed with a bandage wrapped around her arm. It took her a moment to realize where she was. Then she remembered all that had happened. The knife, cutting, blood everywhere. Lilly shuddered.

“Oh good,” A familiar voice said, “You’re awake.”

“Oliver?” She asked.

“Hey Lil.” He said.

She turned her head and saw him smiling at her. She couldn’t help smiling back.

“Hey Ollie. What happened to me?” She asked.

You passed out after you cut yourself. I came to your house and found you on the floor. I bandaged you up and put you in bed.” He said.

“Aww, thanks Oliver.” She said, reaching out and giving him a hug.

“No problem. Just trying to be a good boyfriend.” He said back.

Lilly got out of bed and motioned for Oliver to follow her downstairs. She sat down in the living room in front of the T.V.

“Want to watch a movie?” She asked, as he sat down on the sofa next to her.

“Sure.” He answered, “What movie did you have in mind?”

They settled on the movie Little Women. The only reason Oliver agreed was because it was Lilly’s favorite movie.

Halfway through it, when Oliver came back from the kitchen with popcorn, they heard a noise.

“What was that?” Lilly asked, standing up.

“I don’t know.” Oliver said back as he followed her to the kitchen.

“It sounds like-“ Lilly began to say.

Just then, someone burst through the window, sending shards of glass flying everywhere. Lilly covered her face with her hands and fell to the floor, shielding herself. When she looked up, she saw a person in a prison uniform standing in front of her.

“Jake?” Lilly asked, stunned.

“Hey Truscott.” Jake Ryan said to her, “Long time no see, huh?”

“Get out of my house.” Lilly said, backing away from him slowly.

“Make me.” Jake said menacingly.

“I’m calling the police if you don’t get out now.” She said.

“If you touch that phone, I’ll kill you.” Jake said.

Lilly ran to the counter and grabbed a knife. She held it out in front of her, trying to protect herself. Jake started to run at her, and she screamed.

Just then, Oliver jumped up and punched Jake hard in the stomach.

“Stay out of this, Oken.” Jake grunted.

“Leave Lilly alone!” Oliver yelled as he kicked Jake in the knee.

Lilly ran to the phone and dialed 911 while they continued their fighting. She was scared out of her mind.

Jake knocked Oliver to the floor and just as he was about to stab him, the door burst open.

“Put your hands up!” A voice called from the doorway.

Lilly looked and saw five police officers, their guns pointed in front of them. Jake stood up and put his hands up too.

“Jake Ryan, you are under arrest.” One of the officers said as he put handcuffs on Jake and led him to the car. Jake took one last glare at Lilly and then was shoved into the police car.

Lilly waved as he was taken away.

“Thank God that’s over.” Lilly said to Oliver, but he didn’t respond. “Oliver?” Lilly asked.

“L-Lilly…” Oliver said, weakly, “Lilly? Where are you?”

Lilly was at a loss for words. How could he not know where she was? She was right in front of him!

“I’m right in front of you, Ollie.” She said, uneasily, “Can’t you see me?”

Lilly then looked at Oliver, and screamed. His face was drenched in blood, his eyes were bleeding. “OLIVER!” She yelled as she ran for the phone and called for help.

“Lilly…” He said again. And then his breathing stopped.

Chapter 18: The News

Oliver woke up. Or at least he thought he was awake. He was laying on what felt like a warm, comfortable mattress. He turned his head to see if anyone was with him, but he couldn’t see anything. All he saw was black.

“Hello?” He asked, not knowing if someone would answer.

“OLIVER!” A girl’s voice shouted, happily. And then he was covered with hugs and kisses.

“Who are you?” He asked the girl.

“Ollie!” She said, giving him a playful punch, “Stop being an idiot! You know it’s me!”

Oliver was starting to feel worried. Who is this girl? Why can’t I see her? Am I dead? Oliver shook his head.

“O-Oliver?” The girl asked, her voice sounding worried, “Don’t… Don’t you know who I am? Can’t you see me?”

“N-No. Leave me alone!” Oliver yelled, hoping that she could hear him.

“It’s me, Oliver!” She shouted, “It’s me: your girlfriend, Lilly Truscott.”

“L-Lilly?” He asked, “It’s you? But I don’t understand… I can’t see anything. My eyes hurt.”

“Oliver…” Lilly said, sounding sad, “Your eyes… Well… When Jake came crashing through the window, you didn’t cover your eyes fast enough and some of the glass cut your eyes. We think you might be blind.”

“Wh-What?!” Oliver asked, stunned, “I-I can’t be blind! I have a life! I need to be able to see! How am I going to live without my sight?”

A soft, gentle hand touched his forehead and gently ruffled his hair. He knew it was Lilly.

“Shh.” Her calming, gentle voice said, “Calm down, you’re fine.”

“But how will I live my life? When I can’t see!” Oliver said.

“I’m still here for you no matter what happens,” Lilly said, kissing his cheek. “I’ll help you get through this.”

Oliver stretched out his hand and felt around in the air until he felt something warm and smooth. He knew it was Lilly’s cheek. He sat up in bed and smiled.

“Thanks, Lil. You’re the best.” Oliver said.

Lilly’s arms went around him in a warm hug. He put his arms around her too.

“Lilly?” He asked.

“Yeah, Ollie?” She answered.

“Even though I can’t see you,” He said, “I know you’re the most beautiful girl in the world.”

Then, he felt soft lips kiss him. And her kisses are still the best! He thought as they broke apart.

He heard a door open and then heard a woman’s voice.

“Um, sorry to interrupt,” The woman said, “But this young man needs to rest.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, Nurse.” Lilly said.

The nurse left the room and the door creaked shut. Oliver closed his eyes, even though his eyes were basically already closed, and fell asleep.

Lilly watched Oliver as he slept comfortably in the bed. I feel so bad for him! Like I could have helped him somehow. She thought. Lilly knew how she would make it up to him though. She grabbed her skateboard and her wallet and rushed out of the room. She rode across the street on her board and all the way to the chocolate store. She bought a big basket of Oliver’s favorite chocolate and tied it up with a bow. She paid the man at the register and went back to the hospital.

Oliver woke up an hour later and was overjoyed when he put the dark chocolate in his mouth. “Thanks Lilly!” Oliver said, his mouth full.

“No problem Ollie.” She said back, “Just being a good girlfriend.”

Chapter 19: Learning new things.

After Lilly left, a woman named Kaitlyn walked into Oliver’s room. She said she was to be his teacher.

“What are you going to teach me?” Oliver asked, he pulled the covers off his bed and stepped out of bed.

“First of all,” Kaitlyn said, grabbing him before he crashed into the bedside table, “I’m going to teach you to walk with a cane so you won’t run into things. And I’m also going to teach you to read and write in Braille.”

“What’s Braille?” He asked.

“It’s a series of raised dots that blind people like you use to read. It seems hard at first, but after a while, you’ll get the hang of it.” Kaitlyn said.

“Ok.” Oliver said, “I’ll try.”

“Great! Shall we get started then?” Kaitlyn asked.

“Sure! Lead the way.” He said.

She laughed and led him out of the room.

Lilly was back in the recording studio. This time, she was recording a song Miley was going to record, but hadn’t gotten the chance to.

“Go ahead Lilly.” Robby Ray said into the microphone.

Lilly cleared her throat and took a deep breath.

“Don’t let no small frustration,
Ever bring you down.
Just take a situation,
And turn it all around.

With a new attitude everything can change,
Make it how you want it to be.
Laugh about it and you’ll see!

Life’s what you make it,
So let’s make it rock!

Lilly took a big breath and sung the rest of the song as best she could.

Lilly stopped singing and relaxed. Whew! Thank goodness that’s over!

“That was great Lilly!” Robby Ray said, “The fans will love you!”

“Thanks Mr. Stewert.” Lilly said. “Can I go to the hospital and see Oliver?”

“Sure Lilly.” He said.

Lilly took off her headphones and walked out of the studio.

After about two hours of work, Oliver had written one word in Braille: Dog.

“Kaitlyn, can we stop? My fingers are tired.” Oliver said.

“Of course, Oliver.” She said back.

Then Oliver was grabbed from behind and pulled into a hug.

“Lilly?” Oliver asked the person.

“Yup.” Lilly said, as she pulled away and kissed him on the cheek. “What’cha doin’?”

“Learning Braille.” Oliver answered.

“Cool.” Lilly said back, “What is it?”

Oliver laughed. “It’s a whole alphabet of raised dots that you can read and write with. When you read it, you just run your hands over the dots and read them slowly. It’s kinda hard though.”

“Well, I’m glad there’s a way for you to still read and write, Ollie.” Lilly said.

“Me too.” He said.

Chapter 20: Lanna’s First CD

Lilly was so excited! Today, Lanna Montana’s first CD was debuting in stores! Lilly was wearing a black wig with pink highlights and was standing inside the music store at the mall.

“OK Lanna” Robby Ray said, looking at his watch, “The store opens in 3, 2, 1…”

Girls swarmed the store, running over to where Lanna was standing. They asked her bunches of questions.

“Do you know Hannah?” “Are you her sister?”

“No, I’m her best friend. I just released my own album.” Lanna said.

The girls ran over to the listening station and turned on her CD. They were silent for a minute as they listened. Then, one of them started to nod her head. And after about 2 minutes the whole store was grabbing her CDs off the shelves and racing over to her with pens. She sat down in the chair and signed each one.

Wow! Lanna thought. This is awesome! I never thought they’d like it so much.

“Thank you all so much I love you!” Lanna shouted to her fans as she left the mall.

Once she was inside the limo, Lilly pulled off her wig.

“That was great! I’m so glad they liked my CD!” Lilly said.

All of a sudden, someone popped out from behind her seat. She screamed.

“Lilly calm down!” A familiar voice said.

“Oh! Sorry Oliver.” Lilly said.

“Sorry if I scared you Lil.” Oliver said.

Lilly led him towards the seat across from her.

“It’s ok.” She said, leaning forward and kissing him.

“I bought one of your cds by the way.” He said, “It’s great.”

“Thanks Ollie.” Lilly said.
