Chapter 21: Problems

Oliver walked down the street slowly, using his cane. He was going over to Lilly’s house to hang out. They hadn’t seen each other for a while.

He walked a little further and heard Lilly’s voice. He moved towards it, smiling.

“Hey Ollie.” She said, pulling him towards her.

“Hi Lilly.” Oliver said, reaching out and touching her cheek.

She pulled him gently into her house and pushed him down onto a couch.

“So, do you want to watch a movi-….” Lilly’s voice trailed off. He knew she felt a little embarrassed. “I’m sorry, Oliver…”

“It’s OK, Lil… I understand that the things we can do together are kinda limited now that I’m… you know.” He said.

“No, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.” She said, “What do you want to do?”

“Could you reach me my bag over there?” He asked.

“Here.” She said, putting it in his lap.

He opened it and felt around until he pulled out a skinny book.

“What are you doing?” She asked.

“Just watch.” He said, opening the book.

Lilly couldn’t see how he was going to read the book! All she saw on the page were little dots.

Oliver put his index finger to the first line of dots and cleared his throat.

“Chapter One…The Boy Who Lived.” He said, slowly, moving his finger along the line.

And he read all of the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone to Lilly the same way he read the first line. She was stunned.

“How did you do that?” She asked, as he closed the book.

“I just read it in Braille.” He answered, “Braille is an alphabet made up of raised dots that people like me use to read and write.”

“Wow. You’re good at it.” She said, putting the book back in his bag.

“Thanks.” He said, “But it’s pretty hard to learn.”

“Well, you’re doing great.” She said, and she slowly put her arms around his neck and pulled him into a long, slow, gentle kiss. And there they stayed for a while, sitting there on Lilly’s couch.

Thank you miles30. And I'm sorry if you mis-interpreted what I said as an insult. I wasn't trying to be mean, but Becca did have a point. But now that this is over, I'll continue writing. I was thinkin' about asking to close this thread but I won't as long as yawl are nice. :)

Chapter 22: School Days

Lilly walked into Seaview Middle School looking confident and holding her skateboard. She made her way to her locker and stuffed her books inside, closed her locker, and grabbed up her backpack. Where’s Oliver? She wondered. He promised he’d meet me here. I hope everything’s OK. After about 5 more minutes, she gave up and went to first period.

Today wasn’t the same though. It had been 2 weeks since Miley had died and Lilly had thought she was over it. Normally Lilly would sit at the desk behind Miley in Science, but instead “Saint Sarah” (as Lilly called her) sat in front of her. You’d think I’d be used to this by now. Lilly thought. Just then, a paper airplane hit her on the side of the head.

“Ouch!” Lilly yelped.

“Something wrong Miss Truscott?” Mrs. Kunkel asked.

“No, sorry ma’am.” Lilly said, picking up the airplane and unfolding it.

It said:
Lil,
Meet me at the water fountain outside the Science room now!
Love,
Oliver.

How could Oliver have written this? Lilly thought, but instead raised her hand.

“Yes?” Mrs. Kunkel said.

“Um, could I go to the bathroom?” Lilly asked.

Mrs. Kunkel nodded and Lilly dashed out of the room. She turned a corner and saw Oliver leaning against a wall by the water fountain.

“Hey Ollie!” She said, hugging him.

“Hey Lil!” He said, kissing her forehead. “So you got my note then?”

“Um yeah,” She said, “How did you write it though?”

“Well…” Oliver started to say.

But just then, the answer walked out of the girl’s bathroom: Kaitlyn.

“I wrote it for him.” Kaitlyn said.

“Oh…” Lilly said, surprised, “Hi Kaitlyn.”

“Hello…Lilly? Right?” She asked, smiling.

“Yes.” Lilly answered.

“So Ollie, what did you want me to come her for?” She asked.

“I just wanted to know if you’d like to get out of school for the day?” Oliver asked, smiling.

“Huh? What do you mean?” Lilly asked, curiously.

Oliver pulled something out of his pocket and held them in the air in front of her face. Lilly screamed.

“OH MY GOSH!” She squealed, “Tickets to see My Chemical Romance!”

They were Lilly's favorite band in the universe!

“Yep, but the concert starts in 2 hours,” He said, “So, are you ready to ditch school?”

Lilly ran forward and flung her arms around him. She had never felt so lucky to have Oliver in her entire life.

Chapter 23: The Concert.

Oliver smiled as Lilly let go of him.

“So I guess that means yes?” Oliver asked.

“Let me think…” Lilly said, putting her finger under her chin in a look of deep thought, “DUH!”

“OK Kaitlyn,” He said, “You know what to do.”

Kaitlyn nodded and walked into the Science classroom. She marched straight up to Mrs. Kunkel’s desk.

“Can I help you?” Mrs. Kunkel asked.

“Um, yes. My sister’s daughter Lilly is not feeling well and I am taking her home to rest.” Kaitlyn said smoothly.

“Alright, that’s fine.” Mrs. Kunkel said, “I hope she feels better.”

“Thank you.” Kaitlyn said, as she walked back to where Lilly and Oliver were waiting for her.

“Let’s go!” She said, pushing open the front door and helping Oliver get out. Oliver pulled away from her though, and held his arm out for Lilly to hold.

“I want Lil to help me walk.” He said, and even though he couldn’t see it, he knew Lilly was smiling.

So Oliver, Kaitlyn, and Lilly headed into the parking lot and crowded into Kaitlyn’s car. Oliver had some trouble getting in and bumped his head on the top of the car.

“Ouch!” He yelped, rubbing his head.

Lilly took his hand and gently pulled him into the seat next to her. When he finally got his seatbelt on and they pulled out of the parking lot, Lilly rubbed his head carefully. Oliver felt around and managed to put his arm around her shoulder.

After driving for about an hour, Lilly fell asleep with her head on Oliver’s shoulder. I wonder why Lilly hates Kaitlyn so much. He thought. She can’t be jealous of her, can she? I mean, it’s not like Kaitlyn likes me or anything… She’s just my teacher.

“We’re here!” Kaitlyn called as they pulled up in front of the stadium.

Oliver gently shook Lilly to wake her up.

“Lil, we’re here.” He said, softly.

Then he felt the weight vanish from his shoulder and knew Lilly was awake. She took his hand and pulled him out of the car. He slowly followed behind her and never let go of her hand. Once inside, Lilly went to buy a t-shirt and Kaitlyn left to get refreshments. Oliver leaned against a wall and waited for them to come back.

Kaitlyn came back and handed him some popcorn, but Lilly didn’t show up.

“Did you see Lilly anywhere?” He asked her after about 5 minutes of waiting.

“No.” Kaitlyn said.

“Well, let’s find her!” Oliver said, his voice trembling, “You check the girl’s bathroom and I’ll look around the gift shop.”

“You can’t go alone!” Kaitlyn said, “You can’t see!”

“Fine.” He said, “I’ll wait outside the bathroom and you can check.”

He sat down by the bathroom door and she disappeared inside. Seconds later, she rushed back out and pulled him in with her.

“What? What is it?” He asked.

“I found her.” She said, “She looks unconscious. I think she banged her head on something. She won’t wake up.”

“Well, she needs a hospital!” Oliver said, tears springing to his eyes. “We need to get her to one fast.”

Chapter 24: Recovery

Oliver sat in the waiting room of the hospital with Kaitlyn. He was waiting to hear the news about Lilly.

“Oliver, the nurse just walked out of her room.” Kaitlyn told him.

“Is she OK?” He asked her.

“We’re not sure.” The nurse said, “We think she may have fainted because of a problem in her brain. It looks like her brain may have started to bleed, causing small tumors. We’re running as many tests as possible, but we can’t be sure what’s going to happen.”

Oliver’s mouth opened, and his eyes started to water.

“Can you take me to her please?” Oliver asked the nurse.

“Of course young man.” The nurse said, taking his arm and leading him into a chair. He could hear a faint beeping noise which he assumed was the machine keeping track of Lilly’s brain activity.

“I’ll leave you two alone.” She said.

He heard the door closing and reached out to grasp Lilly’s hand.

“Hey Lil.” He said, “It’s me Oliver. I know you can hear me and I know you’re going to get through this.”

He cleared his throat and continued.

“Listen, you and Miley meant more to me than anything. When Miley died, I felt like…Like half of my heart was empty. You were the only thing I had left to rely on. You were the only person I could always count on. But if I lose you, I don’t know what I’ll do. I don’t want to feel empty inside Lil. I love you Lilly, and without you, my life won’t be very livable. Please don’t give up on me Lil, don’t leave me alone. I can’t live without you, you mean the world to me.” He wiped his stinging eyes and kissed Lilly’s hand.

Oliver fell asleep in the chair next to her bed, still holding her hand.

Lilly woke up to searing pain in her head. She wiped her forehead and opened her burning eyes. Oliver was asleep next to her, holding her hand. She smiled and fell back asleep.

Chapter 25: Confusion

Lilly woke up and felt as if someone was trying to crack open her skull. She cleared her burning eyes and saw Oliver awake in the chair next to her.

“Hey Ollie.” She said.

He smiled. “Lilly?”

“Yeah.” She said, leaning forward and touching his hand, “Who’d you think I was?”

“But, we thought you were dead!” He said.

“Well, I’m not.” She said.

He smiled and hugged her.

“So what exactly happened to me?” Lilly asked.

“We were at the concert and you went to the bathroom. Kaitlyn found you in there on the floor. The doctors said that your brain started to bleed or something. But I think maybe you’re alright now.” He said.

“I feel ok… But my head hurts a lot.” Lilly said.

Then, a nurse entered the room. “You’re free to go Miss Truscott, but you will have to take medicine every day for a while.”

“Thank you.” Lilly said.

The next day, Lilly was out of the hospital and feeling great. She was at Oliver’s house watching a comedy movie on TV when her cell phone rang.

“Hello?” She asked.

“Lilly, this is Robby Ray.” He said.

“Oh, hi Mr. Stewert.” She said, “What’s going on?”

“Today the hospital called and told me some news about Miley.” He said.

“W-what did they say?” She asked.

“They said that….”

Possibly my most SHOCKING chapter yet!! :o

Chapter 26: How?

“They said that some of Miley’s test results have shown them something amazing.” Robby Ray said.

“What is it?” Lilly asked.

“They said that she might still have life left in her.” He said.

Lilly’s mouth dropped open.

“Are you serious?” She asked, her voice shaking.

“Yes, they said that they are going to get her body back and run another test.” He said, “And if that test proves positive, then she’s still alive.”

“Oh my God!!!” Lilly screamed, “When are they doing it?”

“Tomorrow.” Robby Ray said.

“I’ll be there.” She said and she hung up.

Lilly ran upstairs and sat down on her bed. She was so happy that she was crying. How is that possible? She somehow survived Jake stabbing her? That’s amazing. I hope she’s still alive.

And with that, she fell asleep.

She had a dream about Miley. Miley was alive, and she walked over to Lilly and hugged her.

“Don’t worry Lil,” She said, “I’m going to be fine.”

“But what if you end up dead?” Lilly asked.

“If I don’t test positive, then things will go back to normal. The way they were before you found out that I might still be alive.” Miley replied.

Lilly hugged her best friend and said “I believe you.”

Lilly woke up and realized that today was the day. She jumped out of bed, got dressed, and ran to the hospital.

Oliver and Robby Ray were waiting for her.

“Hey Ollie,” She said, kissing him, “Hi Mr. Stewert. Is she here?”

“She’s right in there.” He said, pointing to a door, “You can go see her.”

Lilly slowly opened the door and saw Miley lying on a bed with wires stuck to her head. She could hear a faint beeping noise, which was the machine that was keeping track of her brain activity. She walked over to her and hugged her gently.

“You’ll get through this Mile,” She whispered, “I know you will.”

Chapter 27: Oh my gosh!

Lilly and Oliver were sitting in the waiting room patiently awaiting the results. Lilly could hardly stand this! She wanted to be with her best friend again! In her heart, she knew that Miley could overcome this. She was sitting next to Oliver with her head on his shoulder.

“Listen Lilly,” He said quietly, “If Miley doesn’t make it, don’t be disappointed. OK?”

“I can’t guarantee that Ollie.” She said, forcing a smile onto her face.

They sat in silence for a while, Lilly listened to the sound of his breath. Oliver put his arm around her shoulder.

“What are you thinking about?” Oliver asked, breaking the silence.

“I’m thinking about how much life has changed without Miley around.” Lilly answered.

“Yeah, I’ve thought about that too lately.” He said, “I remember how everyday, when I went to school, she’d be right there with you waiting for me by my locker. I miss that.”

“She always knew how to make me laugh so hard. I miss the sound of her laugh.” She sighed.

Then, a nurse came out into the hall.

“You may go in now.” She said.

“You go in Lilly,” Robby Ray said, “You deserve to go in first.”

“Yeah,” Said Oliver, “Go ahead Lilly.”

He nodded and walked with the nurse to Miley’s room. When she got to the door, she took a deep breath, closed her eyes and went inside.

When she opened them, she gasped.

Sorry it took so long, I wasn't quite sure how to write this chapter.

Chapter 27: Unbelievable

Lilly stood there stunned, not believing it. Miley was lying there with her eyes closed. He best friend was gone from her forever. Lilly sunk to the floor sobbing uncontrollably. She pulled herself over to Miley’s bed and sat in the chair, her head in her hands.

In-between sobs, she managed to choke out a few words.
“Miley, I can’t believe you’re gone forever. I had h-hope that you w-would make it. I guess that wasn’t enough. I love you Mile.”

Then, a miracle happened. The machine keeping track of her heart rate started to beep again.

“M-Miley?” She asked, looking up.

“Lilly…” Said a very faint voice, “Lilly…”

Lilly grabbed Miley’s hand and held tight to it, hoping for another miracle. And then, Lilly’s wish came true. Miley’s eyelids opened very slowly and her stomach began to move up and down, she was alive! Lilly’s scream of happiness made Oliver come into the room.

“What is it, Lils?” He asked.

She put a finger to her lip and pointed to Miley. She was breathing heavily, as if she’d just run a race, and her eyes burst open.

“Miley!” Lilly screamed, leaping forward to hug her best friend as tightly as she could.

“Lilly! I thought I’d never see you again! Jake stabbed me and I thought I was dead for sure.” She said weakly. She looked up at Oliver. “Hey Ollie!”

Oliver stood very still for a moment, then ran forward with tears in his eyes and hugged her too. Lilly was crying harder than ever, but this time they were tears of happiness. Robby Ray came into the room and smiled a big smile.

“Hey Bud!” He yelled, giving her a gigantic hug.

“Hi Daddy.” Miley said, she was crying as well. “I can’t believe I’m seeing you all again, I thought about you all before I died. I’m so happy!”

Lilly hugged her again, “I missed you so much Mile, I didn’t think life would ever be the same again! This is a miracle!”

“I missed you too Miley!” Oliver said, smiling.

“Me too, Bud.” Robby Ray said.

“OK, but I have just one question.” Miley said, sitting up in bed.

“What is it Miley?” Lilly asked.

“Can we go home?” She asked.

They all laughed, and right then and there, Lilly realized that everything was going to be alright again. She never wanted it end. And she knew she’d be OK as long as she had Miley and Oliver to live life with. She’d be fine.

The End!!!!!

I will start another one as soon as I can! I promise! It'll be a three-quel.
