Chapter One: The Concert

"Lily, you won't believe it!"Miley exclaimed, jumping up and down next to Lilly.

"What, what, what?!?" Lilly almost screamed, bursting with anticipation.

"My dad told me that tonight, I'll be performing with the one, the only, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE!"

"NO WAY!!!!" Lilly shreiked, "happy dancing" with Miley. "Oh my god, thats AMAZING!"

"I know!" Miley giggled.

Lilly gasped. "Can Lola come?" Lilly made a puppy dog face.

"I'll have to ask my dad," she said, "But I'm sure she can!"

"YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!" Lilly laughed.

"Come on," Miley said, "Let's go ask my dad!"

"Hey Dad, can Lilly come to the concert tonight?" Miley asked casually.

Miley looked at Lilly.

"What?" Lilly excalimed, "Hannah Montana's assistant has to look good!"

"Daddy, I already told her she could probably go ..." Miley whimpered, leaning against the kitchen counter.

"Well...." Robbie pondered, pausing for a moment to scratch his chin. "Alright. She can go."

"YESSSSSS!" Lilly and Miley both exclaimed at the same time.

They high fived. "See you tonight!" Miley laughed.

"See you tonight!" Lilly responded.

Chapter 10: The Studio

Headphones suffocated Lily's ears. A large, round microphone stood in front of her, glass all around and Robbie Ray sitting behind it. It felt so foreign, so strange. She had never imagined what recording in a studio was like before. Lily had one determination: don't cry. She didn't want to cry. She couldn't embarass herself. She had to stay focused, and not actually think about the meaning of the song she was about to sing. Robbie Ray gave her a thumbs up. Lilly took a deep breath, and began to sing:

"Oh my god." Lilly screamed, her face red. "If Miley could hear you now. 'Move on'? 'Forget about her'? 'Miley is in the past'?" Lilly sobbed. "Miley told me to move on with my life, but she never, EVER told me to forget about her. She told me NEVER to forget her! Who have you become, Mr. Stewart?"

She slammed her headphones down and ran out of the booth ....

Chapter 11: The Suprise

Lilly opened her cell phone and hit the number 3: Oliver's speed dial. She clicked send and put the phone to her ear. After a few rings, a familiar voice answered.

"Hey Lil." Oliver said softly, "How you holding up?" His voice was sultry and comforting.

"O-Oliver .." Lilly stammered, "I need you. Please meet me at our u-usual spot on th-the beach-h?" She ran her fingers through her hair, trying to concentrate.

"Yeah, of course Lil..." Oliver whispered. "You know, I miss her too Lil."

"I know." Lilly wept, "See you soon." And she hung up the phone.

Lilly arrived at the beach to find Oliver already waiting for her.

"Hey.." she said softly, leaning over to give Oliver a hug. She held him for a long time, and then let go to sit next to him. "Where were you at the funeral?"

"I couldn't do it." Oliver replied, shrugging his shoulders.

"Miley would have wanted you to go." Lilly rested her head on Oliver's shoulder.


"I couldn't bring myself to. I would have lost it .. just thinking about the way we used to ...." Oliver caught himself. "Nevermind."

"Wait - what?" Lily suddenly perked up. "What are you talking about?" she raised one eyebrow.

"Okay ... soo ... maybe .." Oliver stammered, "Maybe we were kinda going out."

"GOING OUT!?!?!?" Lilly shouted, nearly jumping up.

"SHHH!" Oliver put his finger to his lips. "We didn't tell anybody about it."

"You couldn't tell me?" Lilly asked, shocked.

"Well ... we knew that you had a habit of ...."

"OF WHAT? OF WHAT?" Lily said angrily.

"Of spilling secrets. We weren't sure we could trust you to keep it secret."

"I was able to keep Miley's BIGGEST secret, wasn't I? You didn't TRUST ME? You didn't TRUST your BEST FRIEND? Wow Oliver. I would have expected better from you."

"Lil, I-" Oliver started.

"Save it." Lilly got up, tears pouring down her face. "I didn't think I'd lose my other best friend so soon, too."

And with that, Lilly walked away, shocked that Oliver wouldn't trust her.

Chapter 12: The Forgiving

"Lilly, waitttt!!!" Oliver cried, running as fast as he could, "I wasn't done explaining yet Lil! Please give me a chance!" Oliver begged, stears streaming on his face. He grabbed Lilly's wrist and she paused for a moment, glaring at him.

"Why should I let you explain? It's all so simple Oliver: You wouldn't trust me. That's the bottom line." Lilly started to turn away, but again Oliver held her back. He wasn't going to let her slip away, just like Miley did.

"You're all I have left Lilly. You and Miley were the only two people who ever talked to me ... and now that Miley is ..." he froze, his heart pounding inside of his chest. He kicked the sand as hard as he could, and it went up in a cloud of particles. "Lil ... I can't lose you too."

Lilly's eyes softened. Her eyes started to water, and she was shaking in her own skin. Without saying a word, she wrapped her arms around Oliver and gave him a hug. "I don't get why it had to be her..." Lilly whispered to Oliver, her chin resting on her shoulder. Oliver rubbed her back.

"I don't know what to believe anymore," she said, her mouth dry. "Why would God let something like this happen? Why would He ruin my life like this? If he really loved us all, wouldn't he keep Miley here with us?" she questioned, holding Oliver close to her.

"I don't know, Lilly ..." he sighed, "I wish I could answer those thing. But the simple truth is that I can't. There are some things in life we simply can't understand, and death is one of them. To me, it always seems like the good people die early, and that the bad people live long, wonderful lives. I've always wondered why that happens, but I'll never get an answer ..." Oliver trailed off.

"I've never heard you say something that deep before, Oliver!" Lilly smiled slightly.

"I guess this whole thing with Miley has helped me to grow up a little."

Lilly pulled away from Oliver slightly, so her nose was almost touching his. She gazed into his deep blue eyes, and slowly shut her own. She tilted her head and moved it forward, her lips pressing against Oliver's. Lilly put her arms around Oliver's lower back, holding his body close to her's. Oliver put his hands on the back of her head, running his fingers through her hair.

That kiss seemed like an eternity for Lilly. Time seemed to go by slowly, and she could almost feel his heartbeat. As they slowly pulled away from each other, Lilly didn't know what to say, so she as she let go of him, she gave him a sweet smile and walked away.

Oliver was speechless.

Wait - what? What just happened?

Lilly was stunned and shocked, her hands trembling as she laid on her bed.

She wanted to call Miley. She wanted her great advice, her comforting words. What would Miley think? Miley had loved Oliver, obviously .... would Miley hate me forever? Lilly thought.

Lilly regretted what she had just done. She had just forgiven and kissed the man that betrayed her; that didn't even tell her a secret. They both did.

They both did. Lilly realized. Why couldn't she be mad at Miley, though? If Miley had still been alive, would things have been different? Would she have kissed Oliver?

So many thoughts were running through Lilly's head. And what about Jake? As far as she knew, Miley was still dating Jake when she died! Had she cheated on him?

Miley, she thought, hugging Miley's favorite stuffed animal that had been left to her, Why can't you just come back for one night and answer my questions? Just one more night to get a chance to say goodbye, and tell you how much I love you. That's all I need ....

Everything had changed since Miley died. Everything was so much more confusing, scary and hurtful. She was so sensitive now ... who had she become? She was a like a different person. What's wrong with me? Lilly thought, What am I doing here? Why am I living right now ... ?

Lilly walked into the kitchen, still hugging Miley's stuffed animal tight. Tiny droplets of water dripped down her cheeks. She opened the junk drawer, and pulled out a pocket knife. She stared at it for a long time, her hand shaking.

She put the blade down for a moment, grabbing three small pieces of paper. She scribbled something quickly on each one, signing each, and she left them on the kitchen table in a pile.

Slowly, she put the blade to her wrist. She shut her eyes tight, not baring to look, and made a deep cut. She could feel the blood dripping down her skin. See you soon, Miley .. she thought.

And then everything went black.

"Her eyes are opening a little!" a familiar, worried voice shouted. Her hand was linked with his, his other hand gently brushing the side of her face.

"Lilly..." he sighed, a tear streaming down his face.

"Wh--h-what?" Lilly stuttered, still in shock.

"We all thought you were going to leave us." he whispered, crying. "I'm so glad you didn't."

The ambulence pulled into the hospital, the doctors examining Lilly and her vital signs. "She seems to be okay." the doctor said, letting out a sigh of relief. "We'll have her stay overnight just to be sure. You should consider yourself very lucky young lady. If this young man hadn't found you in the kitchen in your house and called 911, you wouldn't be alive now."

"Yeah, w-well I d-don't consider myself l-lucky." she stammered, her vision blurry and her speech somewhat slurred. "I w-wanted to l-leave."

"Lilly!" Oliver pleaded, "Please don't say that! I couldn't live without you! Miley's already gone ... " he sobbed, "I can't afford to lose you too."

"Of course I am!" Ollie said, smiling. "Don't ever doubt yourself, Lilly." He lifted up her chin with his hand and slowly pressed his lips against hers.

"I l-love you." Lilly said.

"Me too." Oliver said."

Lilly suddenly jerked back.

"Somebody helpppp!" Oliver shouted, "Doctor!"

His heart was pounding fast. He almost couldn't breathe himself.

But how is it that you always write down my ideas before I post them? It's kinda weird..... I'm so not saying that you're copying me or vice versa, but my next chapter was going to be all about what chapter 11 was.... It just kinda makes me feel like all my ideas go to waste. You know?
