Everyone has been asking me how to cut images into
rounded rectangle to create a blend like this
http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/5833/mileyblendmileycyrus2rv3.png
Well, it's really hard to show you by words, so I create this tutorial.
Hope you'll like it.
[I know it's small and really hard to see, but my
photobucket and tinypic broke down so I have to
use imageshack, not a very good choice but it's
all I have, if you can't see something, ask me,
I'll try to answer them]

http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/5509/tutor05ak6.png
After that, simply just move it to your blend, and that's it, the rest is up to you and your creativity.
This is what I come up with at the end.

I can't do that. Is there anyway to do that with rectangular marquee tool?
Vicky
02-10-2007, 12:30 PM
SmileyMIley11, I think the way you blend is pretty good, but.. sometimes, less is more, try not to add too much bruses and cover everything up, I have that problem too, I always add too much brushes, but sometimes, you have to control the brush using thing, and try add some background to your blend.

if you use that, you'll end up with a rectangle, or you can use a eraser and erase the point, it won't look as good but.. still.

Yeah. Select the picture with the Rectagular Marquee tool, making sure your feather is set at 0 or else it will be all fuzzy on the sides.
Then go to Select - Modify - Smooth - 12 px (or whatever you want, more makes it more rounded, less makes it less round)
That's what I use when I round pictures ;).

oh you do??? I didn't know that, I saw you use the rounded rectangle tool to make the color thing, so I figures you use that for this too lolz.

okay, I think the blending is pretty good, but.. somehow it doesn't look right to me... do you have photoshop cs2??
if you do, when you're adding on the effects, click IMAGE >> ADJUSTMENT>>VARIATION and try to put some red or magenta, cuz I see here is that the color scheme is redish, and the pictures you put on is kinda green... it doesn't look right to me.

you see how you have the brush? i would suggest you use that under the pictures for the background, if you're gonna put brushes on top of pictures, try to not cover the picture up. you know wha tI mean?
babygirl35
02-10-2007, 01:22 PM
oh yeah i wll use that advice thanks vicky, but i am soo not going to make a blend that style until i get the mouse fixed lolz

Another thing. Darker backgrounds tend to look better ;). And like patterns and stuff look good as well :D. And textures. You don't always need to add brushes. Like in this banner that I made like forever ago, just a simple texture and some brushes and patterns are used...you don't want to go over the top. Like Vikcy said. Less is sometimes more.

cute!!
but under the text, you should use some bushes, like mine, like a little light dark brush, so the text wouldn't look so random, it makes the text relates to the blend better. u know what I mean?

thanks for the tutorial. the only problem i have is that i have PSP and it doesnt have the effects that photoshop has. =[
it's really easy to do that on PSP. Just get the selection tool and at the top when you choose the feather it should have a box by that that says "rectangle" and then click the arrow on the box and there are tons of shapes. There is one that says rounded rectangle. just use that and so the same as Vicky did.
