Fanfiction- Don't Let Me Fall

Summary:
When Miley's cousin Luann comes to visit for New Years, Jake gets tricked into more than he expects. (Note: this is not a Juann or Jakuann or Luake or whatever story. It's based on Miley and Luann's relationship as cousins. Will be some Jiley.)

Chapter 1. A Visit
Miley was sitting on the living room couch, staring at the tv.
The tv was not on, but Miley didn't seem to care.
She had just got news that her cousin Luann was visiting for New Years.
Oh joy, she thought. Just what I need, a visit from the living form of evil.
It was a year after Miley had lost her last connection to her mother.. Grandma Josie. December, 2006. It was the saddest Christmas Miley ever knew. Grandma Josie was Miley's mom's mother. She loved to hear stories of Mom as a kid. Grandma Josie visited every thanksgiving and always one weekend in July. The shock still wandered in her. The only comfort she was given was that of her father, brother, two friends, and boyfriend.

Miley heard a knock on the door.
As Miley opened the door, Lilly and Oliver walked in, carrying big shopping bags. Or at least, Oliver was. Lilly was merely, as some people call "supervising".
"Miley, you should have seen the sales at the mall today, I bought so much clothes, it could last me forever!" Lilly squealed.
Miley only smiled, as Oliver replied, "I won't last within the next five minutes if I don't drop these!"
Miley giggled. "You can put them over here, Oliver." she said.
The only people to make me laugh until now. Surprise, surprise. Miley thought to herself.
Just then, someone came in through the front door...

Chapter 2. The Vanishing Act
Strange, Miley thought. I didn't know I left the door unlocked.
She turned around, but her expectations of someone coming in dissapeared as she could not see anything. Strange, she wondered, I thought I heard the front door open. Somethings up.
Lily caught sight of her friend's worried face and asked "What's wrong?"
Miley turned to face Lily. "Didn't you hear the door open?"
"No. I mean, I might've, but I was talking to Oliver and didn't notice."
Miley mumbled a "Hmm."
Lily went to the door. "If you say this opened, than why is nobody here but you, me, and Oliver?"
"That's what I've been wondering..."
Suddenly, she heard swift footsteps upstaires.
That better be Jackson! Miley said to herself. She quickly ran upstairs.
Lily followed, Oliver right behind.
"This is nuts! I know I heard someone up here!" Miley screamed.
"This time, I heard it too." Lily said with confusion, "But where'd it come from?"
"Oliver, don't just stand there," Lily said turning around. "Say some---"
Lilly gasped. Miley looked behind herself. "What's wro---"
Oliver was gone.

Chapter 3. Lilly See, Lilly Do?
Miley and Lilly dropped their jaws as they wiped their eyes and hoped they were just seeing things. Or rather, not seeing things.
They immediately ran with a worried feeling. They looked everywhere.
"Oliver!!" they both shouted.
They stopped, hoping for at least a distant call. No reply. Even if there was a sound, they wouldn't have heard it. Their hearts were beating to loud and fast to hear anything.
"Oliver!!" they tried again. Nothing.
"Miley, maybe he went back to his house!"
"Right! You stay here and maybe check the back yard."

Miley rang the doorbell.
Mrs. Oken opened the door.
"Hi Mrs. Oken, is Oliver home?"
"Why, no he isn't. In fact, he said he went to the mall with Lilly, and then to your house."
"Oh well um, he, he is... he just wanted me to ask you, if you, remembered!"
Mrs. Oken gave Miley a strange look.
"Well, bye then."

Miley walked in. She didn't see Lilly, so she figured she went out back.
Weird... Miley didn't see Lilly. In fact she didn't hear her either...

Chapter 4. Best of Both Explanations(Authors Note: It's a little longer than other chappies)
*(Mystery Name)* smiled. She couldn't wait to see Miley's reaction.

(AN: Okay so your wondering what's going on, right? Well, lets take a flashback trip, shall we?)
Miley quickly ran upstairs. Lilly followed, Oliver right behind. (blah blah blah Miley and Lilly talking)
Lilly said with confusion, "But where'd it come from?"
(AN: FREEZE! Now I shall take you to Oliver's standing point.)

Oliver pondered this, but he suddenly felt something grab him, and before he could scream, a cold hand slapped on his mouth, and he found himself sliding backwards. Was he tripping, and someone was catching him? No, someone wouldn't have covered his mouth. As he was considering this, darkness surrounded him, and he was in a small room. Where was he? He heard a laugh. It sounded like... Miley's??
Huh. Wierd. Miley, if it was Miley, kept quiet after that short snicker, until he heard Lilly and Miley's voices trail off? Wait, Miley again? Something wasn't right. (AN:You've caught on right? you should have. If not read this paragraph again.)
When the door opened, he realized the small room was a closet.He did not see much after this, because whoever was leaving, wanted to get out quickly.Oliver heard the door lock in front of him. Great. I'm locked in here, have no idea why, and I'm hungry!, he thought.

(AN: Okay, skippity skip, lalala,....... Ah, here we are.)
"Right! You stay here andmaybe check the backyard. (AN: FREEZE! Its... Time... For.. LILLY'S VIEWPOINT!!! Wooh! okay, anyways.)
Lilly considered what Miley said last. "check the backyard" Lilly repeated. "I might just do that."

When Lilly was outside, she saw... a note?
Ha Ha Ha.

Why, (Mystery Name), of course!
Now look left, right, up, and down,
but be careful you don't go in the wrong order.
(AN: Now you really should have figured it out, but if not, I'm planning to say "Mystery Name" in the next chapter)

"What! (gasp!) (Mystery Name) has Oliver!" Lilly looked up.
"WRONG ORDER!" (Mystery Voice) said.
Lilly ran, looking behind her. It's funny really. You know you should look where you go, but we always look where we've been.
Suddenly, Lilly tripped. She heard a door open, then somebody pushed her in a closet.
The door closed and locked.
Someone bumped into her.
"Hey! Who's in here!?"
"Lilly? What are you doing in here?"
"Oliver? Where've you been we've been worried sick!!!"
"Somebody shoved me in here, and locked the door."
Lilly's exclamation dropped to a question. "You too, huh?"
"Yeah."
"Ew what's that smell?" Lilly said as a foul odor hit her nose.
"Sorry."
Lilly's eyes widened. "Oh, gross!" and this is a small closet! Lilly thought.

Sorry if you think I'm giving too much away. Next chapter you might have to wait for, I have to think of an idea.

Chapter 5. The Evil Side of Me
(AN: now that we've caught up with Lilly and Oliver, I think we should see what Luann (duh) is doing right now, don't you agree?)
"Luann, how do you do it?" Luann said, talking to herself.
She was standing outside a soundproof closet. Inside were the
-tired-of-screaming- voices of Miley's friends. Lauren or whatever and that cute one, what's his name? Luann thought. Next was her bigger plan. Operation Heartbreak.
(AN: yes, I decided I shall be evil now and check back with Lilly and Oliver. Evil me, haha.
I could let you hear what Luann is saying and clue you in on Operation Heartbreak,but that would be spoiling all the fun)

"It's getting kind of hot in here." Lilly said. With so much heat in such a small place, she felt like an Elephant in an insect jar.
"yeah." Was all Oliver replied with.
Lilly looked up. "Hey, I just remebered! I have my iPod with me!"
"Lilly. we are stranded in a soundproof 4ft by 4ft closet, and all you can think of is MUSIC?"
Lilly slapped him on the shoulder. "No, you goof! my iPod produces light! Light, light!! Think boy, think!"
She turned it on. "Although, it couldn't hurt..." she said under her breath. She played Miley's song, "I Got Nerve". OK, now for the light. She looked around, iPod in hand. When she scanned the walls, she realized this was a coat closet. She also noticed... wait...?
"Oliver, how high can you jump?" she said.

Chapter 6. Jump Higher!
Oliver replied, "I don't know, pretty high I guess. Why?"
Oliver noticed the twisted smile on his friend's face.
"Lilly, your scaring me."
"I know."
"So you wanna stop?"
Lilly ignored him and started hoping there was stool, or ladder, or something.
Yes! she said excitedly to herself. She found a big blue tub, strong enough to stand on. She started to take off her jacket. Then she noticed it would be no use. Even if she did take off her jacket, she'd be too tall too go through. But Oliver...
"Oliver, hand me your jacket!"
"Why?"
"Just do it!"
He quickly got rid of it.
Lilly plopped the blue tub on the floor.
"Step on this." she said, guestering (sp?) to the big tub on the floor.
She wondered if he would be thin enough to get through.
"Wait, take everything out of your pockets."
"Why??!!"
"Because, A. you need to fit through B. you'll damage them in the vent."
Oliver followed instruction.
Then he finally noticed what was going on. We're getting out of here!
"Okay Oliver, now JUMP!"
Oliver jumped into the closed door of the vent. Lilly giggled.
"What was that for?"
Lilly couldn't stop laughing now.
Oliver groaned. He opened the door.
"Now jump higher if you wanna get through!" Lilly said.
"I'm in!" he said with excitement.
"But wait, Lilly what about you?"
"I can't fit through."
"But only Luann has the key to the door!" Oliver said.
"I know. But you can go to Miley and let her know we're all right. And stop whatever Luann's planning to do next."
"But, Lilly..."
"I'll be fine." Lilly said, not even sure of her own input.

Chapter 7. Darkness Surrounds Us

Lilly stepped back. She was alone now, and her only source of light was fading quickly (her iPod was using up it's battery). She had the most awful feeling in her stomach. She knew this feeling. She was scared. Lilly glanced at her "iLight". It was dead, and she had nothing else to lay her hope on.
Now, the only thing she could do was wait, and hope Oliver get's through the vent. Why did I get myself into this? Why did I make Oliver do this? For all I know, he could die in there! I'm so selfish! He could get stuck, or suffocate, or...... her thoughts rolled on. She could not stop blaming herself. She hit the wall. Ow! Lilly started crying now. Everything seemed so lost.......


Oliver wiggled through the vent. He kept crawling through the vent for what seemed hours and hours. Oliver started breathing deeply and heavily. His eyes grew dreary. The vent was very small, and it was getting hotter by the second. It was very dark, and Oliver felt weak.
He felt himself stop crawling. Increasing faintness grew extremely quick and powerfully around him. He wanted to give in so badly.....

Chapter 8. What Kept Him Going
Oliver was losing air. He felt weak. He started to close his eyes................
No!! Lilly is depending on me!! I can't stop!!! No!! I refuse to give up!!
He forced himself to wake up. Must keep going. Must keep going. Must keep going. Must keep going. Must keep going....... He recited this to himself as he inched his way through the vent. What kept him going, we may never know. Some say it was his dedication to do the right thing. Others, his friendship and care for Lilly and Miley. The thing is, we may never know. But Oliver, will always, always, remember.
"Gray clouds come out again,
Day has gone by before our eyes again,
You have a lost another love again,
Things just never be the same again,
Time is turning, running out again,
Again, it's time to take your stand.
Again, it's time to face your fears,
Again, it's time to wipe away your tears,
Again, you are here, again, you are near, again, again, again.
Same little thing. Same bad day.
Though I know I'd never give it up."
He remembered the song. The song. His sister had wrote that song. Right before she left. She left, and she never came back. She sang it, played it. Though it reached him deeper than just that. That's what kept him going. Nothing more, nothing less. Just that. He knew he would never meet that day again, but he still remembered. Again. He promised, promised that he would never forget. So he kept going.

Chapter 9. Hey, Stranger.

Miley was freaking out. Her friends were gone, and she had no idea what to do. She started pacing, thinking. Her hands were shaking. Suddenly, a voice had been outshouted behind her. Miley turned around. She saw what she was sure she'd never see again. A smile rose upon her face. It was Oliver.
Miley ran towards him. She welcomed him with a hug, then it was almost a replay of what happened with Lilly. "Where were you, I've been worried sick!"
That made Oliver laugh. He knew that line. "Why are you laughing?" Miley said as she started laughing too. "Nothing, it's just Lilly said the same thing."
Miley's smile froze. She immediately felt heavy and solemn. She started to say "Lilly" but Oliver interrupted her. "I don't know." he said sadly.


Lilly was still sitting in that closet. That stupid soundproof stuffy scary closet. She was sure she'd never get out. Never. She just gave up. She wished she could picture what Oliver might say. He'd probably crack a joke, trying to make her laugh. She wished he was there, because she knew 100% if he was, she would be laughing, smiling, singing. Instead she was crying. She shook her head. She screamed. She now was raging. She picked up something heavy, and threw it at the closet door. Oops! Lilly thought. That had made a pretty loud sound. Even though the closet was soundproof, she was sure someone heard it. She heard footsteps. Although she was sure no one else was there, they were to fast to be Oliver's, too undistinct to be Miley's, and since she knew Luann was light, and the footsteps were more of a heavier stance....
Then who is it? she thought.
Then, the door opened. When light escaped into the closet, she realized whatever she picked up and threw had knocked the lock off. When she saw who it was, she smiled.
"Hey stranger."

Chapter 10: If I Should Lose Your Lover
Jake (ahaha, bet you didn't guess him) smiled. "Hey Lilly! Gosh I was so freaked out, it's not usually this quiet. Where is Oliver and Miley?"
"Well, I'm pretty sure Oliver's somwhere in the vents, and I think Miley is out in the backyard, but one question, how'd you find me?"
"Well, I walked in, and heard a faint booming sound..."
"the lock..." Lilly realized.
"And I open the door, and here's you!" he finished.
"Well, if you don't mind, I've been stuck in this horrid closet for what seems like forever, and I'm claustrophobic(sp?)!" Lilly said, pushing Jake out of her way and walking out.
"So, you wanna find Miley?" He said.
"Yeah, she's probably worried." She said. (lol he said she said. ((AT song)))
As they walked out, Lilly heard a banging noise behind her.
Oh my gosh... not again!
She turned around quickly, proving her thoughts correct.
Jake was gone.

*out back*
Miley heard a familiar voice behind her...
Lilly? she thought.
Miley turned around. Lilly was running towards them.
"Oh my gosh! Lilly, you're here!" she said.
But then she noticed the look of worry on her friend's face.
"What's wrong?" Miley said.
"Well, I uh.." Lilly began in a roundabout way.
"I kind of... lost Jake" she finished.
"WHAT??!!" Miley said in disbelief, raising herself to her highest point in pure anger.
"Miley, don't get mad. Hey this reminds me of a song...
If I should lose your lover...
shame on me, I was just too stubborn,
too blind to see, that I could ever lose your lover..."Lilly sang.
"Lilly, this is serious!" Miley shouted, almost screaming now.
"Miley, chill!" Oliver barked at her. "It's not her fault, okay, lots of things have been happening today, but its nobody's fault! So just tone it down!" Oliver said, matching Miley's infuriated tone.
Lilly and Miley just looked at him, both in shock. They didn't expect him to blow him up like that.
"Lets um, go look for him.." was all Miley said.
They all walked forward, but Lilly pulled Oliver behind.
"Thanks for sticking up for me" she said, and gave him a hug.
"Your welcome" he whispered in her ear.

Chapter 12- Crash World- Part I

Miley looked around her. It was late. Stars were out.

I guess you could say, she had memories. Memories of him...
that one time he smiled at her in the hallway. The other time they were watching "The Ring II" in theatres. Miley screamed so loud, and even though she didn't know it, the movie freaked Jake out to. Yet he still let her cover her face and lay her head on his shoulder, even though he was scared out of his wits. It was obvious, they both hated scary movies. Looking back, Miley laughed at herself, the way she practically jumped on top of Jake during that one part of the movie.

"Miley?" Lilly said, interupting her thoughts.
"What?" Miley said.
"You fell asleep... but you were smiling. And laughing." Lilly said.
"I guess I just had... a happy dream." she said.
"Well, we have to keep looking." Lilly said.
Miley was bummed. She didn't feel like getting up, but she did anyways. She knew they had to find Jake, and get rid of Luann.

Later, as they were walking through the hallway, they realized it was morning. They had been searching all night. Dissapointed, Miley told Lilly and Oliver to go ahead home.

After they were gone, Miley heard someone scream...
someone that might be Jake?
She ran faster than the wind's top speed, dashing upstairs, the direction she heard the yell from.


But she all too quickly wished she hadn't. Right there in front of her...
was Jake.

Why was she sad? Well- you'll have to wait till next time to find out.
