because it is an official fanclub.All of them cost money because you get so many privlages.Better concert tickets(that are cheaper to buy but great seats),contests,and more.You also get stuff in the mail like a fanclub package(on my other fanclub I did)There are so many privlages,it can't be handed out for free.I hope that answered you question:)

I think it'll be something in the mail, because it says free gift with your membership card, and I'd assume the card will come in the mail. yay! I can be a card carrying member! lol.
