Hey Guys, I love books and I love reading and writing. I thought it would be fun to just share what books you guys are reading for school or just for fun. When sharing this, just fill out the form:

Book Title:
Author:
Grade you are in:
Summary (What the book is about):
Your thoughts/feelings on the book:
Appropriate Age Level (what ages you think will appreciate this book, or will understand it):

Chances are many of us have read or are going to be reading the books you are reading, so why not talk about it?

It's better if you are at least halfway through or done with the book before filling out the form. ;).

Also, you can chat about any books you have read that you liked or disliked. Same forum as above, but fill out the last thing with more detail, or you can add onto another person's thoughts.

Like if someone said "I am reading A Year Down Yonder, it's pretty funny." You can talk with them about that book.

I'll go first :D.

Book Title: The Old Man And The Sea
Author: Earnest Hemingway
Grade: 8th
Summary: The book is basically about an Old Man and a Young Boy, trying to catch a fish...lol.
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: I just started it today, and its very interesting. It is a novella (which means it has no chapters). It is basically about an old man fishing, but there are many metaphors...like how you need to work hard to earn something and not give up not matter what. I like it so far, but it's a bit boring. My teacher says English Scholars read this book in like college and stuff, so I'm really excited to read it, and hopefully I will get a lot from it, even if it isn't the most entertaining book.
Appropriate Age Level: This book obviously isn't the most exciting, and you really need to be able to comprehend what you are reading and think outside the box. You need to know what metaphors are and it uses some advanced vocabulary. I think anyone above 9th grade will be able to handle this, 8th grade as well, 7th grade possibly. You just really need to be good at English for this book to mean something, otherwise you might feel it is pointless...I mean an old man fishing all book?

Don't feel bad to disagree, but don't bash anyone for liking a book you don't or viseversa. What makes a good discussion/chat is to disagree, so feel free to disagree politely with what anyone says.

Now your turn, fill out your own form of comment on mine :D. Hehe, I'm such a bookworm :P.

Book Title: Uglies
Author: Scott Westerfeld
Grade:9th

The authorities find out, and send Tally out to find Shay, and threaten that if she dosen't, she will never be pretty.
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: It's really good, definately a page-turner and im almost done.
Appropriate Age Level (what ages you think will appreciate this book, or will understand it):probably any girl in middle school through high school would understand it and most likely appreciate it. i really like it. theres also a sequel, called Pretties, which i want to get when I'm done.

heres one i just read for school

Book Title: The Bean Trees
Author: Barbara Kingsolver
Grade: 9th
Summary: A young woman named Taylor who's grown up in a small town all her life decides to get out on her own. she is on her way to who knows where when she stops at a restaurant and a native american woman forces her to take a small child, and when Taylor refuses, the woman puts the baby in Taylor's car and then runs away. Taylor is then stuck with a native american child, and still needs to find somewhere to live. her adventures take her all over America.
Thoughts/Feelings: It was a really good book and I would like to read a sequal, if there is one. There were a lot of differnt characters, but it all made perfect sense.
Appropriate Age Level: hmm thats a tough one. well 9th grade reads this every year in our school, but I'm pretty sure I would have liked it last year too. so maybe like late middle school early high school aged kids would like the book and get the full meaning of it.

Wow, I read that last year in 7th grade and I understood it lol. Have you read Angles and Demons? I honestly loved that book, and since I'm not Christian it wasn't all that insulting to me. My Aunt hates it and I'm not allowed to talk about it around her cause she was very insulted by it. But I think its so though provoking and it really makes you wonder...

Yeah its by Dan Brown too. Honestly, The DaVinci Code and Angles and Demons are his only two books that are really good. It has Robert Langdon in it also(and his mickey mouse watch :P), and I have started it but never finished. From what I have read of it, I like it more than DaVinci Code.

Aww thanks, I saw it in the theatre though wiht my friend Claire. It was funny, we were sitting like next to these big guys who were Italian so we were like "Mobsters..." And we had been drinking tea all day at my friend Liv's and every 10 seconds we had to get up and go to the bathroom and eventually the Mob guys just moved..:P.

Since this it the Book Chat, I'm just gonna mention a book a started reading before school, but never got to finish.

Book Title: Wicked
Author: Gregory Maguire
Grade: 8th
Summary: Well, some of you might know the broadway musical Wicked, which I have seen twice :D, anyways the musical was based on this book. It's so good and its about what happened before Dorothy came in the Wizard of Oz, but from the 'Wicked Witche's' point of view.
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: I aboslutely love this book and the characters, it's so well written, along with Gregory's other books.
Appropriate Age Level: Probably like high school and up - mature 8th graders. It has a lot of sexual 'stuff' in it and some violence.

Gregory Maguire is a great writer, most of his books are about Disney stories but from another person's point of view. Like Mirror, Mirror (Sleeping Beauty), Confessions of An Ugly Stepsister (Cinderella), Son of a Witch (Wizard of Oz - "Wicked Witch's" son). If you are in the age level I said above and are interested, try out these books ;).

Appropriate Age Level: For me girls ages 11 and up can read this book because it's about boys, friendship , fashion , and many more but for some series I'd say girls ages 13 and up

At her aunt's place, she discovers more than about herself, but also the reasons behind the feud between her mother and aunt.
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: It drags on a little at the start, but it is really really moving. A story about self discovery, its excellent for girls, as all protagonists are females ;)

Book Title: Gossip Girls (series)
Author: Cecily von Ziegesar
Grade you are in: 8th
Summary (What the book is about): A series which is centred around a group of filthy rich teens living on the Upper East Side in New York City. (think SATC for teens lol) It is 'narrated' by a unknown character, however 'her' alias is Gossip Girl :)
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: TOO GOOD TO PUT DOWN!!!! A collection of trashy novels, which focuses on friendship, love, dare I say...s. e. x and gossip.
Appropriate Age Level: 15+? Some bits are rather explicit, so explicit, that the book cover has a sticker with a warning :P

For instance, one story intitled "Masque of the Red Death" by Edgar Allan Poe was centered around the "Black Plauge," and taught skills of setting and atmosphere. In this story, the king is basically a selfish brat who thinks he and his rich friends are perfect and know everything. So, they try and escape the desease by locking themselves away in a castle. But after an unexpected guest arrived, it turns out to be the Red Death himself and not a single soul survives.

Your thoughts/feelings on the book: So far, it's a really good book. The kids are like stranded on an island. But the people on the island are really strange and they're like brainwashed. Lol, That's about as far as I've gotten.
Appropriate Age Level: This book is probably good for anyone who can read it. I definitely suggest reading the last 12 though. There are too many characters to know if you havem't read them.

lol i just got done reading that book! it was soo good! lol you're right, if you havent read all 12, it would probly be a bit confusing! lol. but it's a fantastic book. Lemony Snicket has this awesome way of writing.

Book Title: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Author: J.K. Rowling
Grade you are in: 8th
Summary (What the book is about): Well, I'm sure like, at least 60% have either read the book or seen the movie, but if you haven't here's what it's about: Harry goes to Hogwarts for his fourth year of school, and he learns that there's gonna be this Triwizard Tournament. one person from each school (Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang) can enter, but they have to be 7th years. But, Harry's name comes out of the Goblet (hence the name Goblet of Fire) and he's in the tournament. He now has to battle a dragon, go underwater for an hour to save his friends, and travel through a terrifying maze that and I quote, "changes people". He and another boy from his school, Cedric Diggory, get to the Triwizard cup first, and touch it at the same time, leadig them into a dark graveyard Harry has nightmares about. There, Cedric is killed, and Harry witnesses Voldemort's return. Harry and Voldemort, the Darkest wizard EVER, have a duel, and their wands connect through a really weird spell and Harry escapes the graveyard. It's really, really exciting. But, lol it's like, really, really long...
Your thoughts/feelings on the book:
Appropriate Age Level (what ages you think will appreciate this book, or will understand it): I don't know, probably like, 6th grade or 7th grade and up, cuz there's a lot of big words they use, and it's like, super duper long, so, if you LOVE Harry Potter, (like, I do, (for sure, lol)) and if you're up for a challenge, or if you just want sonething to read, read this book. IT ROCKS! lol, I've probably read it like, 5 times already...

i read this book for school this year, but i read it on my own 2 years ago, in 6th grade. its my FAVORITE book of all time!!!

Book Title: Catcher in the Rye
Author: J.D. Salinger
Grade you are in: 8th (read it on my own in 6th)
Summary (What the book is about): this book is about a wealthy teenaged boy named Holden, who has been kicked out of yet another boarding school. the story is narrarated (sp?) by him, about the 3 days he spends on his own in manhattan, before his parents find out about him being kicked out of school. It takes place in the late 1950's/early 60's. It is a coming of age story that i could relate to (the second time i read it) even though Holden's life has been very different then mine. In reading this, you learn about the ups and downs of a smart, self-conscious, fragile boy who is just taking time to find himself, while fighting the fear of growing up.
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: It's FABULOUSLY written!! the story really touched me even though i havent experienced most thigns that Holden has experienced. While reading this, i felt that Holden was sitting right in front of me, talking to me like he was a real person. His character is so lively, that i could hear his voice (as i imagined it) telling me the story.
Appropriate Age Level (what ages you think will appreciate this book, or will understand it): I read it on my own when i was 11 or 12, and i loved it, but didnt quite understand it the way that i did when i read it this year, as a 14 year old. So probably most appropriate for anyone 13 and older

another great book by JD Salinger is Franny and Zooey

Book titles(I'm reading two): Yoss, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Author: Odo Hirsch(Yoss), J.K. Rowling(Harry Potter)
Grade: 7th
Summary: Yoss- A 14 year old boy named Yoss has come of age(which is 14)to do a manhood thing. He goes off w/ his friend Herman(who is 14, too)and they are suppose to go out for a day and come back and then they are treated like adults. But after two day(Yoss refused to go back and Herman stayed with him)Herman went back and left Yoss. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire- Harry Potter(who is a wizard)has returned 4 his 4th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They are hosting the Triwizard Tournament this year. Two other schools come to compete(they are Beauxbaton and Durmstrang). There's an age line, though(17 years old). Someone enters Harry in the tournament(he's 14). They have to let him enter cuz of the rules. Everything is going pretty(I've read this book already)good until the end when they have to go though the maze. Harry(oh, I forgot to add he's in Gryffindor) and Cedric Diggory(he's in Hufflepuff)get to the cup at the same time, they touch it at the some time but it's a portkey and they go to a graveyard and Wormtail kills Cedric with the Killing Curse and some stuff happens(I'm trying to sum these up)and Voldemort(the most feared Dark wizard of all times)come back and him and Harry dueled and right before Voldemort tries to kill him with the killing curse Harry says the block spell and something happens called a Priori Incantatem were their wands sorta connect by gold string and every person Voldemort killed came out of Voldemorts wand and they were talking to Harry saying don't break the connection till they said and Cedric said take my body back to my dad and so when they said to do it Harry broke it got the Cedris body and the cup and came back to the entrance of the maze. I have to stop now or I'll go on forever.
Your thoughts/feelings about the book: I think Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire was a great book! Yoss I haven't finished yet but so far it's good!
Appropriate Age Level: Harry Potter I'd say 12 or older cuz it's a very long book and it has very scary stuff in it(that's why the movie is rated PG-13). Yoss I have finished yet but I got it from the Young Adult section from the library.

Wow, I wasn't expecting to type that long of a summary. Well, It was kinda hard giving a summary of Harry Potter w/o typing the whole book:)

Title: The Ransom of Mercy Carter

Author: Caroline B. Cooney

Grade: 7th

Summary: I haven't begun it yet, but it's supposed to be about a girl who gets captured by Native Americans in Colonial America. My mom is having me read it for history, because we're covering Colonial America. I have to do a book report on it at the end of the week.

Appropriate Age Level: Because I haven't read it yet, I coudln't tell you for sure, but probably around 11 + up.

Title: Alex Rider Series (Stormbreaker, Point Blank, Skeleton Key, Eagle Strike, Scorpia, Ark Angel)

Author: Anthony Horowtiz

Summary: A British 14-year old boy named Alex is forced into working for MI6 when his spy uncle is killed on assignment. Along the way he encounters a crazy computer businessman, a school for rich kids run by a lunatic, and a Russian General trying to revert the world to Communism. He meets a millionaire who is more than he appears, and later discovers secrets about his long-dead father. And in the last book, he battles a group of eco-terrorists. That was tryng to sum up the series without giving away too much.

Personal Thoughts: Definitely read this series. I absolutely loved it and there's constant adrenaline. If you're American (like I am) don't let the author's jokes against Americans ruin the series for you, because everything else rocks.

Age Appropriate: I would say 11 and up, because there are some things on politics and other stuff in there that might be tough to understand for anyone younger. But I'm no expert, so go ahead and read it if you want to.

Okay, remember guys, don't give away the full book. Just give a breif little explaination (if your book has and you want to use it, you may use the explaination of the book that is on the book). Someone filled out a form from Harry Potter and told the main parts of the book and the ending, don't do that. Just simple state some few things about it.

Hehe, I'm such a bookworm :P.I read hannahmontan truth or dare and I am In 3thr grade

Anyway, I have another book I just read.

Title: I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
Author: Maya Angelou
Grade: 9
Summary: It's about a girl living in times when people were really prejudiced, and theres a lot of really bad stuff going on. It's actually an autobiography. I had to read it for English class ;)
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: I didn't like it. It got a little too uncomfortable for me. I don't know why I am telling you about it since I really don't like that book. Touching it makes me feel gross lol.
Age appropriate level: Well I'm in 9th grade, but maybe a middle schooler could read it, if they felt they were mature enough. There's just a lot of stuff in there I really didn't want to read about if you get what I'm trying to say. I wouldn't reccomend that you read it. Sorry to anyone who likes it. It was just a little too much for me. And a lot of my friends who had to read it too.

:O. I read that at the beginning of the year. It was good. But I mean, that was her real life. Her real childhood. So, its not just her being all dramatic and making the book overly weird :S.

That's a really good book.
The sequels to it (it's a whole series) are kinda....eh....a bit of a let down, but you'd probably still like them.

Uglies, Pretties, and Specials are like my FAVORITE books. A lot of people already wrote about them, so I won't. But I really like them a lot. I'm really into future science fiction type stuff.
I wouldn't reccomend them for anyone under 12.

Ooh, I had to read Great Expectations last year...not fun.

Also, someone mentioned "Eragon" earlier and said a movie was coming out on it. I guess that was before the movie came out, but I've seen the movie and read the book, and although the movie was good, the book is a whole lot better. The movie summarizes the book too much and leaves out many of the things that made the book unique. Even if you have seen the movie and weren't crazy about it, I would STRONGLY recommend the book. As far as age goes, I would wait until you are at least a teenager just so you can more fully appreciate the book. But all in all, a definite must read.

Summary (What the book is about): Harry Potter being suspended from Hogwarts and possibly expelled because of use of underage magic but it was to save his life from dementors

ok well I went on sparknotes.com and i read the summaries of the whole book. didn't take too long, better than reading the actual book. I think the plot was good, I just didn't understand how Charles wrote it. Anyways I read the possible essay questions and answered them, kinda memorized, and those were the ones on the test.

Your thoughts/feelings on the book: I am a horrible explainer/summarizer, but Twilight ROCKS! It is such a compelling, suspenseful book, and you can't stop reading 'til the very end. It may seem like a veryy strange book, but it wasn't on the New York Times Bestseller List for nothing!

Grade you are in: 9th
Summary (What the book is about): After having a middle class geek move into her enormous mansion, Massie Block along with her extremely beautiful and rich friends is going to stop at nothing to NOT be friends with her. In simpler terms, a poor girl moves to a rich neighborhood filled with Range Rovers, MiuMiu, and BCBG.
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: This is one of my favorite chick-lit books because it gives an insight to the rich and fabulous showing that they have their drama, but also insecurities like everyone else.
Appropriate Age Level (what ages you think will appreciate this book, or will understand it): Middle school and up.

EDIT:
Do I even wanna know what the 'IT' is supposed to mean?

um, the IT in "IT GIRL" means the girl like the most popular girl that every girl wants to be and every guy wants to date.

Book Title: The Giver
Author: Lois Lowry
Grade you are in: 8

There is no color; everything is in black and white; there is no music, just the sound of others talking, there is no love, no romance, not even the love of a family. They call it "safe", and "sameness". When Jonas turns eleven, and is assigned the job of "The Reciever" (a great honor), he recieves the memories of people years ago, when they had all the things we have today. Book Title: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Author: Robert Louis Stevenson
Grade you are in: almost out of 8th
Summary (What the book is about): (from the back of the book): Robert Louis Stevenson's masterpiece of the duality of good and evil in man's nature sprang from the darkest recesses of his own unconsious - during a nightmare from which his wife awakened him, alerted by his screams. More than a hundred years later, this tale of the mild-mannered Dr. Jekyll and the drug that unleashes his evil, inner persona - the loathsome, twisted Mr. Hyde - has lost none of its ability to shock. Its realistic police-style narrative chillingly relates Jekyll's desperation as Hyde gains control of his soul - and gives voice to our own fears of the violence and evil within us. Written before Freud's naming of the ego and the id, Stevenson's enduring classic demonstrates a remarkable understanding of the personality's inner conflicts - and remains the irresistibly terrifying stuff of our worst nightmares.
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: I didn't really enjoy the book, but at the end it does get really interesting

Book Title: The Lighting Thief (first book in the series Percy Jackson & The Olympians)
Author: Rick Riordan
Grade You Are In: 6
Summary:
Percy Jackson is a twelve year old boy who has been in 6 different schools in 6 years. But then he goes to Yancy Academy, the school where he met his best friend Grover, and his so-called worst enemy, the latin teacher, Mr. Brunner.
One night it was storming, and Grover came to the front door and then Percy realized why Grover was in a wheel chair and never wore shorts or sandals. He was a satyr. Half-human, half-goat.
They reached there destination, but as soon as they started running towards Half-Blood Hill, a minotaur attacked.
What Percy found out was that this camp he found past the hill wasn't your normal summer camp. It was a camp for sons and daughters of Gods and Goddesses.
What Percy would soon find out was, he was a demigod, claimed by Poseidon, the God of the Sea. Mr Brunner, who turned out to be a centaur, (and who's name is Chiron) told Percy that he needed to go and find Zues' lighting bolt, which Percy was blamed of taking.
So off Percy went with his two friends, Annabeth, the daughter of the Goddess, Athena, and Grover. They traveled from New York, which was where Camp-Half-Blood was, to L.A. to reach the underworld and to find Zues' lighting bolt.
But things don't turn out as well as planned....

While she and her brother join the resistance, their Mother keeps connections to the past, and their father holds tight to the Violin that had been his livelihood for so long. But life grows harder and harder as they are forced to relocate to Shanghai's ghetto. Book Title: The Thief Lord
Author: Cornelia Funke
Grade you are in: Goin into 7th
Summary (What the book is about): (since i didnt finish it yet, this is from the back cover of the book)
Welcome to the magical underworld of Venice, Italy. Here, hidden canals and crumbling rooftops shelter runaways and children with incredible secrets...
After escaping from their cruel aunt and uncle, orphans Prosper and Bo meet a mysterious boy who calls himself the "Thief Lord". Clever and charming, the Thief Lord leads a band of street children who enjoy making mischief. But the Thief Lord also has a dark secret. And suddenly Prosper and Bo find themselves on a fantastical journey to a forgotten place. What they discover there will change to course of their destiny.
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: Good so far. My sis had to read the same one for seventh grade and she said there was something in the book called the Time Machine Farris Wheel so I am hoping to get that far before the summer ends. I am the slowest reader ever! She can read a book in a day! Well i got off track but anyway, it is really good so far.
Appropriate Age Level (what ages you think will appreciate this book, or will understand it): People who are in 5th grade-8th grade. I only had trouble pronouncing some of the names in the book(i had no problem with Bo and Prosper. pretty easy if you ask me!)
Book Title: The Last Book in the Universe
Author: Rodman Philbrick
Grade you are in: Going into seventh
Summary (What the book is about): (I didnt even start reading this one yet so again, here is the stuff off the back cover)
"If your reading this, it must be a thousand years from now"

Nobody around here reads anymore. Why bother, when you can just use a mindprobe needle and shoot all the images and excitement straight into your brain? I've heard of books, but they were long before I was born, in the backtimes before the Big Shake, when everything supposedly was perfect, and everybody lived rich.
Personally, I doubt the backtimes ever existed. It's like a story you tell to make yourself feel better. As if having past makes the future somehow worth believing in.
In real life, nobody comes to your rescue. Believe me, I know. But then I met Ryter, this old gummy who had a lot of crazy ideas. Together we tried to change the world...
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: dont have any. didnt read it yet.
Appropriate Age Level (what ages you think will appreciate this book, or will understand it): I will post this after I read it.

There it is!

Book Title: The Bumblebee Flies Anyways
Author: Robert Cormier
Grade You Are In: Going into 9th
Appropriate Age Level (what ages you think will appreciate this book, or will understand it): 8th grade and older
Summary: [off the back of the book] Sixteen-year-old Barney can't remember life before the Complex, an experimental clinic. He knows he's different--he's the control subject. Then he uncovers a terrible secret about himself, a secret that drives him to fulfill his and his fellow subjects' ultimate dream. The Bumblebee must fly!
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: I finished it in an hour, and I didn't really like it much. It was based in an experimental medical clinic, and everybody there has a terminal disease or cancer and they all know that they'll die soon, which is sorta depressing.

Book Title: Animal Farm
Author: George Orwell
Grade you are in: Going into 9th
Appropriate Age Level (what ages you think will appreciate this book, or will understand it): 9th grade and older
Summary: [back of book again] A farm is taken over by its overworked, mistreated animals. With flaming idealism and stirring slogans, they set out to create a paradise of progress, justice, and equality. Thus the stage is set for one of the most telling satiric fables ever penned--a razor-edged fairy tale for grown-ups that records the evolution from revolution against tyranny to a totalitarianism just as terrible. When Animal Farm was first published, Stalinist Russia was seen as its target. Today it is devastatingly clear that wherever and whenever freedom is attacked, under whatever banner, the cutting clarity and savage comedy of George Orwell's masterpiece have a meaning and message still ferociously fresh.
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: I haven't started this yet because my friend told me it wasn't very good and I haven't felt like it yet, but I think I will soon.

Well, I'm supposed to be reading two books this summer before school starts, 1984 and Rebecca, but I have always been a procrastinator, so why stop now. I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows several days ago, and liked that very much, but I'm gonna talk about the book I am currently reading.

Book Title: Twilight
Author: Stephenie Meyer
Grade you are in: Going into 9th
Summary (What the book is about): The book is basically about this ordinary girl, Bella, who moved from Phoenix to Seatle to live with her dad while her Mom travels around with her new husband. Bella is your basic seventeen year old girl, she's intelligent, hates the rain and is unbelieveably clumsy. At school she is fascinated by a group of beautiful teenagers and later gets to know one of the gorgeous boys, Edward. His dazziling looks and constant heroics cause Bella to fall for him, even though he happens to be a vampire. It's part one of a trilogy, the second book is New Moon and the third isn't out yet.
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: I just started it this morning cause my friend lowned it to me after forcing me to read them, and I simply love it. I just can't put the book down. It's a lovely dark romance that is so beautiful and terrifying at the same time. It is equally suspenseful and has some action in it too. I'm only about 300 pages into it, but it's such a great book. Bella is a relateable character, and as I mentioned before, the story is just so gripping.
Appropriate Age Level (what ages you think will appreciate this book, or will understand it): Right now I'd say about 13 and above, but according to my friend, it gets darker as you read on.

I'm not usually into too many romance novels, other than the classics, but this is just such a great book. All of my friends just kept talking about how great it was, and now I know what they mean. If it sounds even the least interesting to you, I'd check it out, cause I so far, really love it :D.

Book Title: A Lesson Before Dyeing
Author: Ernest J. Gaines
Grade you are in: 12th Grade (Senior)
Summary (What the book is about): Jefferson, a black plantation boy of 21, living in 1940's Louisiana, is accused of murdering the white general store owner. In his defense, Jefferson's defense lawyer attempts to appeal to the racism of the jurors by calling Jefferson a hog. The attorney says, "Why I would just as soon put a hog in the electric chair as this," (8). This is heard by his godmother, Miss Emma, and her friend, Tante Lou, who are sitting in the courtroom. Jefferson is, of course, sentenced to death. This causes Jefferson to believe himself to be an animal rather than a man, so Miss Emma and Miss Louise ask Grant, the narrator and teacher of the plantation school, to teach Jefferson that he is a man, and to walk to his death as such--the lesson before dying.

Theres eight of them: The Clique, Best Friends For Never, Revenge of the Wannabees, Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, The Pretty Committee Strikes Back, Dial L for Loser, It's Not Easy Being Mean, Sealed With a Diss, and the ninth one, Bratfest at Tiffany's, comes out in february! Im soooooooo excited! i love them, im a freshman and its like middle school reading level but i still love them!
Hahaha well currently-while waiting for the ninth one- im reading the sisterhood of the traveling pants series. Im on the third on called Girls In Pants. Anyone read those?

Book Title: Twilight
Author: Stephenie Meyer
Grade you are in: 9th
Summary (What the book is about): After moving to Forks, WA to live with her dad, Bella might just have found her perfect man except he's a vampire.
Appropriate Age Level (what ages you think will appreciate this book, or will understand it): I would have to say high school or a high reading level middle schooler because it is a veryy long read.

i'm reading that right now ;)
im only on like chapter 4 though. we get to pick a book for outside reading @ school & like half the school is reading it lol. so many people have told me it was really good. my mom thought it seemed really odd that i would want to read it, but its really good!

Summary (What the book is about): Rosalind's two moms have died (yes moms, plural), and now she must
live with Sean, the sperm donor that gave her life.
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: I thought it was really good. It isn't written like a normal book, its
through e-mails that Sean sends, Ros's journal... It also deals a lot with grief and how she gets over it and such.
Appropriate Age Level (what ages you think will appreciate this book, or will understand it):

Book Title: Macbeth
Author: William Shakespeare
Grade you are in: Senior
Summary (What the book is about): On the level of human evil, Shakespeare's Scottish tragedy is about Macbeth's bloody rise to power, including the murder of the Scottish king, Duncan, and the guilt-ridden pathology of evil deeds generating still more evil deeds. As an integral part of this thematic web is the play's most memorable character, Lady Macbeth. Like her husband, Lady Macbeth's ambition for power leads her into an unnatural, phantasmagoric realm of witchcraft, insomnia and madness. But while Macbeth responds to the prophecies of the play's famous trio of witches, Lady Macbeth goes even further by figuratively transforming herself into an unnatural, desexualized evil spirit. The current trend of critical opinion is toward an upward reevaluation of Lady Macbeth, who is said to be rehumanized by her insanity and her suicide. Much of this reappraisal of Lady Macbeth has taken place in discussions of her ironically strong marriage to Macbeth, a union that rests on loving bonds but undergoes disintegration as the tragedy unfolds.
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: It's interesting.

Book Title: The Pigman
Author: Paul Zindel
Grade you are in: 7th
Summary (What the book is about): I only read a few chapters so I don't know the whole story yet. From what I know, there's a guy named...Something Pignati. John and Lorraine, the main characters, nicknamed him the pigman since he's really obsessed with pigs. Somehow (not sure how yet) the pigman dies and Lorraine and John write the story of how he died while it's fresh in their minds.
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: Honestly...I don't like it that much. I'm kinda only reading it cause the school I go to is making me. But it's not as bad as what I was expecting and I don't COMPLETELY hate it! I sorta like the characters...and it's not to bad compared to what my old school made me read at all. So let's just say its okay, but its not something I'd read if the school didn't make me.
Appropriate Age Level: It's not a little kids book at all, but its defiantly nothing inappropriate from people around my age group. The book usually blocks out bad words using "@%*&!" or whatever that sign is. The book also mentions smoking and drinking. I think it's mostly for people in the 7th and 8th grade. MAYBE 6th. 9th seems a little to old for it.

The car is stolen and when the police are chasing it they crash the car and Martin gets serious burns on his face. The rest of the book is basically about how he recovers and gets to grips with what has happend.
Your thoughts/feelings on the book: I loved reading it because it has a message of now matter what happens you can still succeed.
Appropriate Age Level (what ages you think will appreciate this book, or will understand it): I think from about 12+ it all depends on how mature people are.
